The Mighty Monaro CV8z

The mighty monaro!!

Australian born and bred and then stolen by America; who called it a pontiac and made it just a bit ugly, and the UK couldn't keep their hands of it either with vauxhal welcoming the beast into its ranks!

V8 engine, well over 300 bhp, rear wheel drive two doors, and most of all a MIGHTY MIGHTY DRIFT BEAST!!!

This is a thread dedicated to anyone who loves sliding this baby around any track in the game... el capitan is my current favorite!

Settings, videos, pics, opinions, tips, challenges all welcome!!!

My most successful set up is the Australian version of the car with racing suspension dumped loooooww on to some N2 tires and full transmission upgrades and a racing chip.. Not too powerful but beautifully balanced.

I just wanted to spread the word on this fantastic car and hear from anyone else who loves (or hates) it!!! It is quite a common car in my area (Coastal Victoria in Australia) and i could help but race it more in the game after seeing the Vauxhall version tested on TOP GEAR (great great show!!) they bought in the D1 drifters to help them test it!!! very good veiwing!!! hahaha it is very funny and its on youtube!! if you haven't seen it, check it out!

Anyway thats my two cents.

Catch

YES!! I completely agree! I saw that CAPA drift monaro driven by Robbie Bolger at Mallala, smoke going everywhere, the roar of the V8 drowning out the competition, crowds and loudspeakers!! :sly:

Very good idea, ill try to build a drift monaro, right after I buy the black cars, and if i have enough money left over (Im on day 688 with just over $9mil)

Its good to know there is another monaro fan out there!!

I'll post a video soon i just need to get one on my USB flash drive but haven't really worked it out yet.... won't be long now.

I to enjoy the Holden Monaro but I am a Ford Falcon Fan

But I do agree with you about the Monaro been called the Pontiac GTO
:grumpy:

Cant Pontiac come up with any good designs of there own but no they cant

Sure you can, with a Max Drive.
You can't. What you can is save replays to a flash drive. You can not watch that like a video though. A replay just is a small file containing info about what cars were used, where they were used and what they did. To watch that, you need Playstation hardware.

And an everyday flash drive is not a max drive. You need a max drive and the software that comes with it.

Actually you just need the max drive software, it works with the majority of flash drives. :sly:

But without that, you won't get anywhere.

Yeah, I know that, I know that you knew that, and I hope that you know that I knew that :dopey: but the message here is that you can't just plug in a flash drive and transfer replays.

haha well this went off topic!!!!

but thanks for the info anyway i appreciate it there is another forum about getting videos on here i'll work it out soon enough.

It's not exactly an uncommon thing to do, GM has several car company's making the same model under a different name.

Besides, Holden is just an Australian division of GM, so it's basically American...

Oops, you're entirely correct. My mistake, and my apologies.

Yeah you're right. I wish Pontiac could come up with a good design that LOOKS like a GTO. But as for GT... I prefer the GTO to the Monaro simply because it has more horsepower, and has the nice hood scoops. But next time Pontiac, make your own design!

i agree, for many car companies it is easier and cheaper to re-badge one of their sister companies cars and call it their own.
eg. ford laser is a re-baged mazda 323

you can even get a big compant buy a design from another.
e.g. toyota lexen is a holden commodore.

it's a bit of a cop-out, but it is funny though. When they first took the GTO in to america and the customers were saying there is nothing like an american built muscle car, when in fact they are made in the elizabeth plant in south australia.

i love the menaros looks but i i can't stand the grille on the GTO:grumpy:

Yeah totally agree on the bumper they just tryed to americanize it too much!

The power boost is a plus for the pontiac but it is nothing a few upgrades can't fix in the game!!!

Also i would sacrifice the SMALL amount of HP to drive something that looks HEAPS nicer in my opinion!

IMO:

Redicolous heavy (3730lbs, 1700 kg)
Brick aerodynamic (no aerodynamic)
And with that size it would deserve at leats 4 doors.
And last but not least it looks like the average brick everday car.

Dont forget I added IMO, I only wonder why such a ''normal'' car gets that much hype.:dunce:

Why does everyone hate the grill on the GTO. The only difference is a vertical bar in the middle make two instead of having a wide open space.

Besides, that's Pontiacs trademark grill style, most all of the new cars have it like that.

Well i have a few things to say.First of all,the Holden Monaro is basically an Australian built muscle car!!!!Its heavier and less powerful than an ordinary muscle car (that what makes it Australian) But i do like to drift this car in GT4 (weirdly enough,i beat all the driver during survival mode in D1 Grand Prix with a Pontiac GTO )I also like the Ford Falcon.Would be great to watch V8 supercars again....

by the way,was there ever a Ford Falcon Coupe? (i think it was a BA model)(or whatever it is....) Saw it in a magazine a few years ago but can't remember how it look like.It supposed to be a rival of the Holden Monaro....does it look like this one?

I don't think there all that heavy, for a modern car with all the luxury features and a V8 engine and room for four adults.

It has a very slippery shape with a low cD.

The Holden Commodore is basically the same car with four doors, but a foot longer.

Have you seen one in the flesh? Every one who has seen one in real life agrees, it is a great looking car!

i am not a holden fan, Ford for me all the way. however IMO the monaro and clones are all very nice looking cars. but i just would not own one.

for me it is the ford fpv all the way.

Agreed entirely!! it is quite sexy even though it is a take on a pretty standard car... and it is the two doors wich make it so.

And it is reasonably fast for its class (ie. the other commodore SS and fords) just not when put up against the exotic supercars and other super expensive coupes that are in this game.

I really want to see the HSV cars in the next GT because they are even better!!

bang 4 buck theres no better... but i am biased :)

i'd like to see some drift settings and vid for the monarodore! :)

(ps: going to oran park this august to see the v8s... last race ever at oran park :( )
