The car stands 58mm higher and 174mm longer than it's previous model and has a longer wheelbase too, making it the largest Clio to date. Styling cues have been taken from the Megane, with a crease running the length of the body into the bulbous rear end.
The boot carries 288 litres because of the increased wheelbase. Up to eight airbags are included, along with anti-whiplash headrests and ISOFIX childseat mounting points in the front and back (I thought no child under 10 is allowed to sit in the front of any car ).
UK specifications have'nt been confirmed yet but all models will get a full size spare wheel. Extras will include adaptive headlights, an MP3 audio system and key-less go which Renault claims is unique among superminis.
The basic chassis is shared from the mini-MPV Modus. Transmissions will be a manual or a paddle-shift sequential option. Power is from a 75bhp 1.2, 100bhp 1.4 , a 110bhp 1.6 or a 140bhp 2.0 which will join the range next spring. Diesel engines include 1.5-litres with 70, 85 or 105bhp outputs.
The prices will range from £9,000-£14,000, roughly £1000 more than the current line-up.
Personaly, I quite like this car. I think it will do quite well. 👍
