Anyone other than myself experimenting with this? I have set on 60% so I can give the button a quick tap, giving the stage 3 turbo on my aristo insta-spool. I pretty much leave it in 3rd gear now, letting the car struggle to spool in low speed turns, and then tap the spray on exit.

In my eyes, it's just one more aspect of tuning, which is a good thing. Sure there's other things I would have preferred more, but at this point any new tuning options are a good thing.

I can't wait to start seeing how people use it. My hope is that it will allow some of the slower cars to keep up, allowing a wider variety of cars to drift together.

I would expect it to be used in certain competitions since NOS is used a lot in Formula D which is a good thing. I'll have to do some testing tonight but while I reckon it will help link certain sections and get a bit more angle I don't think it will give a large speed boost because it will spin the tyres more than they can grip to move you forward. Same philosophy as with GT5, anything over about 550 HP and you won't be going any faster and you'll just be getting more angle and having an easier time linking corners.

It costs more than most of the drift cars I plan to build, not really interested.

I do want to see how other people use it though, maybe it will change my mind.

From what I have noticed with the nitrous is that if you try using a full shot (turned up to max) while drifting all it will do is spin you out, but setting it a lower setting will give you a tame blast. Now grant it I have only tinkered with it for maybe an hour or so and I like everyone else is still getting used to the physics and setups but i dont see alot of people using it depending on the model of car using.

Certain situations especially for competitions, where i see nitrous being used alot:
  • low hp car (following) vs high hp
  • huge sections needing to be linked
  • Nitrous is actually beneficial for really grippy cars on initiation to induce oversteer
  • cars with low torque on tight course
I may have missed a lot but these are some of the things that i could think of that it would help. As of right now it is not fully tested and comps have yet to be run. These are just my theories I'm open to suggestion.

I've been using it on the competition car I'm tuning. I won't disclose details for its use, but I have to say that getting it balanced with your tune/driving style will allow you to pull off some insane stuff. Deep entry at streets of willow 120+ mph initiating before the pit exit on CH tires, absolutely insane. My team and I intend on using it a lot.

I've been using it on my ae86 for longer corners, kinda feels like going from 300hp to 400 or 450hp with the setting at 50%. Going to wire up a toggle switch to one of the buttons on my e brake controller so I can flip it on and use both hands on the wheel.

Assuming that the competition allows use of NOS.

Just realised you can restrict it in lobbies.

Most of us agree its acceptable as its only one more method you can use to manipulate the vehicle behavior. Though it should go without saying that if you already have a large power advantage on an opponent, you shouldn't use it. Its pretty obvious when its being used anyways.

I'm not too sure about you guys, but JZX90 (my cousin on GTP) uses NOS for his JZX100 1JZ-GTE with a T88-34D Turbo. Some of you may know that it's a large turbo which means large turbo lag. So for little sections, he will have the NOS running permanently for that specific 100secs (Usually the whole D1 Section) for the D1 Run only! (Saves NOS & Cash). Usually running at maybe 2 PSI. So it, cuts out the lag. But doesn't provide ridiculous HP overload that it unbalances the whole cars setup. This is what GT6 is missing, and what i presume is, people will be creating a setup that permanently runs NOS for a temporary time. Most likely for Wheel users.

one of my teammates is trying to setup something like that but so far hasnt had any luck. We also have to take into account when using it in comps that we probably will not be able to go back to the pits and refill if we have mulitble runs so you will have to use it very wisely.

Correct, I recommend using a brake caliper of some sort and attaching it to one of the buttons on the shifter 'Assuming' it's a G27! NOS is definitely a game changer, hopefully there won't be a minority that ruins it for the drifting community. As it's destroying the drag community.

Small minority? Would that be people who have fast drifters who want to pull away more?

Pretty much! Kinda like the DF Mods on GT5, ruined tandems in GT5.
It would "irritate" me more if they were leading in a battle and hit the nitro as we were accelerating toward initiation. Gives me the 🤬's bad enough when people don't courtesy roll since I always have a weak getaway.

I started doing some testing with my Z33 yesterday....

Naws is addicting...like Meth....

But for real, it's a lot of fun. I was using it on Apricot Hill, both at T1, and the straight before the long sweeper. It's a cool feeling to have it pinned in 6th gear while on the bottle :)
