The NFS 3: HP thread

I was just wondering if anyone was still playing this old gem and, if it still works (it takes more than one person to properly test it), would want to have a few fun online races once in a while or in general just share your memories?

For those not familiar with the game, it was released in 1998 and was the game that brought cops back to the series in the "Hot Pursuit" mode in which you can also play as police yourself. Other than that, there's a Knockout and a Tournament mode. Beating these on different difficulties, as well as outrunning the cops and busting some racers, will unlock extra cars and tracks for you to play on.

If anyone is still playing this, show yourself. It's not a crime to play the old ones

I can throw it in every once and a while and play it for an hour or so and have stupid fun with it, and I absolutely love how distilled it is as an arcade racers.

I suggest you play it in a PS3 if you have one, because the framerate stays at 60FPS more frequently than it did on the PSX.

Wow, that was quick.. And I thought I was the only one though I'm on PC so I'm not that concerned about the frames

Oh. Well, I was never really a fan of the PC version of Hot Pursuit. High Stakes and (especially) Porsche Unleashed were a lot better on PC vs. the PSX version, but I never could get into the PC version of III. Didn't like the car selection as much, and I liked the physics of the PSX one a lot more.

The versions were so different they were different games. Personally the PSX Porsche Unleashed blew away the PC version. The others were equally good with each other.

Still got it ready to go on my desktop, with no-cd patch. All first gen NFS are installed with no-cd patch except NFS 2 SE and TNFSSE which is played through DOSBox. DFGT works with all except NFS 2. 👍
