Here is how it works.

General

Points system:

Driver's points are awarded for the first thirty places in a race sequentially, with thirty points for the fastest total time and twenty-nine points for the second fastest, etc. The fastest driver of a race will be given one point. If the race features multiple classes racing in one event, the fastest driver of their class will get one point also. If a driver cannot race that driver may be replaced for an event but the driver's points earned, if any, go to the team and not the driver was unable to race for whatever reason. One to six points will be added depending on what position a driver finishes in ahead or behind the computer opponents.

Team points are the sum of driver's points.

Manufacturer's (Owner's) points are the sum of team points in a race for all teams using the same make and who are registered
with the manufacturer as official teams.

Practice/ testing:

Practice may be performed at any time during the season.

Teams may practice with any set up they wish, but I would like teams to post in the Practice/ Test thread,
which will soon be made, what you are trying and the subsequent results. But you must use the car you are currently racing.

Team/ Company rules:

A limit of four members per team.

The team captain chooses the other members of his team and the car they willl race with, as well as the his team's name.
Driver's selected for a team must agree to be a part of that team or it is not official. Send apllications to
here with the subject line reading GTP Race Teams entry.
Independant drivers are to put the same line in their email subjects as well.

Manufacturers may choose up to four teams to represent them. Those teams nominated must agree or it is not official.
Only the team captain's approval is needed.

Manufacturer's Teams may not change cars during the season. Independent teams and drivers may.

Racing rules:

All teams and free drivers must register no later than three days before a race is scheduled. Races will be held every
two weeks.

Here are the races

Yes, well i'll delete the ones that arent buyable!

I have decided to advance this further and select the cars for the this series. The selection process was as follows.

I used the cars in the new car lot because the used car sections have the problem of losing and regaining cars, I prefer consistency. The cars selected for each class were based on value. I excluded specials except for in the cases where there are less than three cars available. C class=cheapest of new car lot. B=average of prices in new car lot or middle car in price. A=most expensive of the new car lot, generally. When the results are tied, I included the tieing cars. I'm hoping this method is sufficient to avoid too much favoritism.
Some cars, such as the specials, may not allow for the rules of aclass to be applied fully. Just apply what can be then.

Allright just to clarify this, all those races are 4 each of the classes, right? Is the date the due date 4 times?

good question. yes, submitted by that date. l

few takers :(

I wish some would tell me what they want, i incorporated the class idea, to some degree, that Cerbera submitted. i'm not frigid.

if some would prefer pm, i'll consider it, but if this ever picks up, i don't know how much space pm can hold. I have to sort time, calculate points, announce winners, address complaints, etc, that will take time. The e-mail allows me to auto sort things. Hopefully the subject line would be entered as requested. If pm is preferred, ok, but please be precise.

This looks great! Is anyone doing some sort of intermediate level races? I think this would be great practice for those of us not up to a world class skill level yet!

I am just totally confused right now:confused: A race series for GT2, has this taken place yet? I just read this now, and I am totally:confused:

Gosh I wonder why:confused: Maybe if every1 who might be interested took & passed calculass & had a secretary to keep track of all the events & classes, maybe ,if they had the spare time ,maybe, might participate.I wonder  Well by the response I,d say [ NONE :( ] And simulation tires !, C,mon ,get real

1. Calculus? Try simple adding and subtraction.

2. I am the one that would have been doing all the secretarial work.

3. The point was to balance the cars. In truth the restrictions were either too forgiving or not as exact as in some real life series.

4. The series was advertised and any that wanted to could have suggested things much earlier. Nothing by me prevented this.

5. I am sorry, but I wanted this to be a bit special, as close to an actual series, like GT racing, as I can could (some leeway, of course), if I make the rules super simple, where it is nothing more than your standard challenge times three events, I am doing nothing. Should it have been
Car x at course x, no more than 300 hp, race at 5 events? Season over?

6. I did give several championships to choose from, and even set some up for owners and manufacturers.

7. All that needed to be done was to either write down or printout the data appropriate to the series, and send the information I'd requested, what car you will be using, are you part of a team, would teammates verify this, do you wish to be a company (Nissan, etc.) owner, what teams would you like to represent your company, would company team(s) please verify, etc. I needed to know these things to get the series up and running.

8. I know it was a bit of work, but if it had been successful, I, I repeat, I would have been the one that might have had to sort out over 3000 member entries.

9. I am sure GT3 would have been preferred, but I am simply not ready for it.

10. If Jordan wants to try this with someone else, I will be fine with that decision and bear no ill will. I tried the best I could.

I think I have said enough.

"I tried the best I could"

yeah you did try talentless you just got the same sort of response that most of the challenges on this forum get ! only few challenges or race events seem to be able to attract attention , i think it may have a lot to do with it being gt2 , most people want to move forward to the next edition , but you tried man and thats as much as anybody can do , at least you have the imagination to be able to organise something like that , maybe concentrate on gt3 next time and you might have more interest , i'm in man just give me a shout when you want to start a new event , TAKE NO $H!T MAN !!! ;) :D

Let me preface this by saying this is coming from a fairly new member at this board.
Personally I think Talentless did a remarkable job coming up with this race challenge. Not only offering his free time to compile the emails, verify the teams---not to mention organize and detail the race challenges themselves!
I think he made quite an effort, and it really shows! It's really a shame that more people didn't participate, whether they're more into GT3 or not. Even taking that into consideration, there's got to still be some play-value for those people in GT2.
Hopefully Talentless hasn't given up totally on future events. I think we should all encourage him further! For whatever reason people didn't participate in this challenge, it certainly wasn't for lack of creativity or originality on its creators' part!

I say good job Talentless!

Tallentless, your efforts to detail & finittes are beyond reproach. You should if you are not already , be a valuable CEO, but the carbon copy ceo can only understand the thinking or language of another ceo. This here is a passive ,casuel, hobby like envoronment, where the math whiz kid, the nerd, the jock, the one that sits at the back, the one that,s dimmer than a burnt out light-bulb, the hussler, the family man or mom, the blue-coller floor sweper to the super-viser. You have to take them into account. Many of which could be very good competetors, if not alone then teamed up with someone that would have made a team competitive. Also the little snippits of time that we may find ourselves the opportunity to indulge in this hobby for some of us is rare. The series outlined seemed time consuming and very lengthy. Sry it didn,t get off the ground, I would have enjoyed just reading about the races.

Your point is understood, but My intention was for it to be a series that would be close in competition, and while I can understand some reduction in features, regulations, I do not want it to be overly simplified. I have no interest in taking every day challenges and putting them together. One of the most unpopular things in racing is when the same person always wins, only regulations have a chance of combating that. I have avoided the weight penalty system. And would rather not boot people for being good. Hoping people are honorable, those with terrific times would be prevented from using trick settings, if any, if they follow the rules, and hopefully this more level field would give others a chance. Some with great times may just now a little trick.

I need to know what simplified means?

I do not feel great sympathy for having to send data, I need to keep records, don't I?

The fact that a message can be edited here is the point.

I am sorry, Cebera, but I just don't think it is that complex. Have you been to the FIA's website?

I can't restrict on just horsepower alone, that would be stupid.

I am curious, did You read the rules all the way through or skim it?

If there is confusion, people can always ask.

I do hope that You will not take my defenses as My telling You to not question me. I would also like to point out that I did simplify it. Now settings are plus or minus the stated number, instead of a percent of or more than the standard setting.

oh, and that power to weight stuff. take the weight and times it by 0.15 for 15%, o.125 for 12.5%, etc. 2800lb*.15=420. 420 hp. the weight can be any in the game as long as it does not make the pw too high.

Votes please.

What does everyone think of keeping this series and making a second version, a sort of amateur version? Less features and races.

I just want it known that I am still willing to run this, take suggestions, and anyone wanting to suggest something may. I will also assist ZeroCool85 with the GT3 version if he asks. I've made a few errors, but they will be rare.
