Shaggy, you are kidding me, 1,11 is more than enough for you to wipe the F1:ce race clean *, if I'm not mistaken the best I did was 1,14 (although I admit, it was my first time with F1:CE, so I can improve, but I doubt I'll have the time needed).

* - Unless other F1:CE aces join the party, of course, but I know none interested

Biggles, call your sister and tell her it's a life'n death situation. You NEED a PAL copy of F1:CE delivered at your door until next friday :sly:

Any chance we could add competitive mandolin-playing as one of the events? :)

ChilledAnt is pretty handy at F1:CE as I recall, and if New Soul can replicate his SCC pace in this, he'll be hard to beat. If you get any practice I'm certain you can take a couple of seconds off that lap time, Mario. It's not as punishing as something like SCC is if you don't get a great exit from a corner, owing to the crazy acceleration these cars have anyway. But eking out those final few tenths is the real challenge 👍

You've got to be kidding me Shaggy! I would say F1CE is the MOST challenging game in terms of refining your times - every muscle twitch has consequences. Interlagos - because it's the last track on the circuit - I have barely run at all, in spite of having well over 200 hours in F1CE.

Although it would be fun to run in this (what is sure to be the mother-of-all-piles-ups) series, I'm happy to have F1CE as my off-line game. It's never impressed me that much on-line. And I should warn the F1CE online virgins: running decent laps offline in practice & putting them together online are two completely different things in my experience ... :ouch:

I just think the gap between a top SCC racer and an average one is a lot bigger in lap time than the gap between a top F1:CE racer and an average one. It's not that one is more challenging than the other, it's just that if you get a poor exit from a corner in SCC you're losing all that speed till the next corner. In F1:CE the same rule obviously applies, but the effects are negated somewhat by the speed that your car is accelerating at anyway. So if it was a mistake that loses you a second in SCC, it might only lose you 1-2 tenths in F1:CE IMO.

On another note, if you're looking for each race to last about 20 minutes Mario, I suggest making the F1:CE race 17 laps. This way it also makes sure of people having to do a two stopper. 15 or 16 laps makes 1 stop the best option - not as much fun. BTW pit stops are something you'll need to have a look at before you get to this race Mario, or else you could lose about 5 seconds per stop :scared:

I'm a bit dubious about that analysis Shaggy. As you are much more experienced at F1CE than SCC, it may seem that way to you. To a relative F1CE newbie, just getting around the track in one piece with damage on is a challenge. I would fully expect to see a fairly accomplished F1CE newbie falling 4 secs/lap behind your pace, & that's before factoring in the strangeness of the online experience. Then you're going to add a couple of pit stops?! Another 5 to 8 seconds each! :ouch:

I find F1CE, at least on manual & with a wheel, requires finding a fluid, almost subconscious rhythm of shifting, braking, accelerating, that takes a lot of practice to achieve. SCC is a lot more visceral where you can more easily make adjustments on the fly. And in F1CE one small misjudgement can end easily in a very costly spin.

One thing found after returning to SCC after 7 or 8 hours playing F1CE - it took me a while to get used to the fact that the car's weight would slew all over the place coming out of a corner, whereas in F1CE as long as you get your timing right, you can pretty much put the pedal to the metal coming out of a corner.

Have we decided on cars, tracks and rules 100% yet?
As I race all of they in pro ect we need to be singing off the same hymn sheet.

Sorry I probably should have clarified, i'm only speaking purely in terms of lap time, that's pit stops and spins aside. My case in point is that on Mario's very first outing with F1 CE he was lapping within about 3.5 secs of my pace, and I've spent god knows how many hours with F1:CE (I daren't check the exact amount). I'm an average but relatively experienced SCC racer and i'm anything between 4-8 seconds behind Alan and Sarrinen usually. When I say it might only cost 1-2 tenths in F1:CE whereas it would cost a full second in SCC, that was probably an exageration. I think maybe half a second would be more accurate now that I think about it.

Just my experience with the two games I suppose though in all honesty i've probably spent literally 10 times the amount of time with F1:CE as I have with GT5P, SCC and V8SS:NC put together! So you may have a point :dopey:

Hey Jay I'm sure that Mario will have figured out the final settings by Monday but in Scc I think we'll be racing in SPA-only the car isn't figured out -in GT5 P~the race will be at Suzuka with a 700 p rated car.In SHIFT we be racing the Green Hell with some tier 1 or 2 stock car,probably...👍

Ohh and with this crowd be sure they will run with assists off in all games.

You have one week to get some pratice in SPA...in Suzuka I'll take the picnic basket, care to join?:)

Mario? Mario! You can't use Mario as an example. He's an actual, real-life racing car driver!

Hi brother Shaggy. I used to be handy at F1:ce, its been many moons since i played F1. Yes we did race each other in F1 about a year ago.. Your still a F1 boss.. Happy racing bro..:)

I just got invited to a friends after-dinner birthday celebration at his home so I won't return to my own home before midnight. However, if when I return I still have enough stamina to play, I will join you guys.

I'm thinking tomorrow we could do a GT5P night, wednesday a Shift night, thursday a SCC night and Friday a F1:CE night. Just practising of course.

I am sorry to say to all those that can't take part sunday that, unfortunately, the event will have to be run that day.

However I plan to make a simulation of the full event next saturday, to check on all possible gremlins that might affect such an ambitious project. And I would very much like that all the ones that are unable to race sunday would join this saturday full and final rehearsal.

In any case, IF the Pentathlon concept proves successful this won't be the last one to be run, that much I can assure you all.

Finally, checking this thread I think I spot two more people registering for the event, chilledant and Biggles. Is that the case?

I ask this because we are reaching the 16 player number and if we get over that number I must split the Pentathlonists in 2 groups for all games (in GT5P that split will be a necessity in any case)

My plan was to check on several things tonight, it won't be possible. But you guys keep a close eye on this thread, news, rules and info will be posted here. Thanks for your patience :)

Hi Mario
As I wrote you at jeff's event I wont be able to run on sunday. But I'll be joining saturday
if you deside to run a rehearsal.

That's a shame Henrik, you would have been one of the favourites without doubt 👍

I'm very curious to know what cars/weather we're going to be running for this event. As it turns out i'm either working or just busy every night this week so I doubt i'll be able to join in the fun until possibly saturday, which will probably end up being the majority of my practice.

That too bad Henrik! But don't worry, Saturday we will do a full simulation of the Event (all 5 games) and I'm counting on you to deal with all those last few oddities that all games have in their online modes, even if each of them in a different way.

A few more notes about this Event's organization, all of them concerning one of the most important aspects of it. No, nothing about racing, all about player communication:

1 - BEING IN MY ACCOUNT'S FRIEND'S LIST IS MANDATORY

Sorry, I'm not a pushy fellow and surely not a PM spammer :D so, as soon as the event is over, you guys may trash my psn icon at will. However, for the event I will need an easy way to send (and re-send, and re-send) out invites for lobbies and for the XMB chat, and also to easily PM you guys if needed.

I may be running out of available slots in the friend's list, but can always free a few more, I have people in my friends list I don't meet playing for ages. So, if you get an error message saying that my friends list is full just PM me.

Also, Although it isn't mandatory, I strongly suggest you people to befriend all other Pentathlon players. In the first (and so far only) test I did with SHIFT I had a few problems to send invites and arvore took over hosting duties. This may happen again with Shift or any other game so it would be good if all participants were also PSN friends with each other.

2 - ENTERING THE EVENT XMB CHAT IS MANDATORY TO TAKE PART IN IT

This is crucial, specially in GT5P (to have all players pressing "START" at the same time, without waiting for a special minute in the ingame clock; to know fast & easy who got in the race and who didn't) becuase that game has "pre-historic" online, but is also very important in all other games to easily communicate when things are getting setup

3 - GET YOURSELVES WORKING HEADSETS (NOT MANDATORY)

SCC is the only game where they will be fully effective, but Shift and V8 allow their use also so they can be a useful communication tool. However during races the use of headsets is not allowed so please remember to switch them off.

Ok, end of notes/rules (whatever you want to call them).

Now for something (hopefully) more fun:

Tonight I will run a PRACTISE SESSION, starting at approximately 21:00 GMT (That's 22:00 in PT, UK and Ireland, 23:00 in most other european countries and no precise idea but about 17:00 in the ATlantic Coast of NA).

I will focus mainly on:

But if we have enough time (and will), we will also test this one:

I will open a XMB Chat window, hope to meet many pentathlonists later and hope you guys can help me sort out a few last details about the event, concerning GT5P and SHIFT. I have my own ideas but I'd like to hear yours! 👍

I'll likely join you guys later for some prologue races, after I convinced my wife to go earlier to bed so I have the living room for me and can set up the wheel.

Until then I'm "exiled" in the kitchen, next to the dogs! :(

Hi guys I need some help in finding a good tuning for a 700 p rated Clio in GT5P .I know Mário posted a link for GT5P tunes but I kind of lost myself in so many threads...:guilty:

I already know I wont be competitive in this venue-my best so far 2;09,xx-but I would like to give my best shot and after Jeff stating that with a good tune he was able to shave 2 whole seconds from his P.B I got curious if I can also improve my time.:)

Thanks in advance.👍

Not quite what you ask but I managed to get 2:04,xxx / 2:05,xxx laps on the F430 with the tune you'll find under the Lion's Den Performance thread https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=111490

Try it and see how it goes.

@ drivatar: Suzuka 700 PP is W.E., not sure if there are others! Glad you can join, have you decided about the Pentathlon? Tomorrow is the deadline to submit entries :)

Ok guy I will be racing in the shift league saturday night and won't be able to race sunday as I start work at 2.30 am monday. I have early stats this week also but will try and get on for a practice.

Thanks guys:tup:

Just one final doubt should I go into my garage and tune the car or I have to wait until the pre-race menu to insert those tunes?
