What do you think? I think its very good. Its brutal and im shocked seeing this movie being referenced on almost all film websites, forums, and videos.

Also its from Indonesia :D Yes the director is from Wales but he is very interested on Indonesian culture and now lived here.

The Raid: Redemption (Indonesian: Serbuan Maut, meaning The Deadly Raid; also known as just ) is a 2011[9] Indonesian martial arts action film written and directed byGareth Evans and starring Iko Uwais. This is the second collaboration of Evans and Uwais after their first action film, Merantau, released in 2009. Both films showcase the traditional Indonesian martial art pencak silat, with fight choreography by Uwais and Yayan Ruhian, who also worked on Merantau. The U.S. release of the film features music by Mike Shinodaand Joseph Trapanese.

The Raid 2 (Indonesian: — English: "Thug")[4] is a 2014 Indonesian crime action film written and directed by Gareth Evans; it is the sequel to the 2011 hit The Raid: Redemption. The film was released on 28 March 2014.[5][6][7] It follows SWAT member Rama, the protagonist of the first film, as he is sent undercover to take down both corrupt police officials and the gangs of the criminal underworld.

Being an Indonesian which movies had become crap nowadays (lots of horror movies mixed with "sexy" girls so it would sell) i'm surprised at how amazing The Raid movies were. Ss much as brutal the second one is, i like the first one more, it's more of a thriller. (The scene where Jaka hides in the shower room and one of the thugs with the big machete is opening the doors one by one is scary). Can't wait for the third one, as i'm curious at how the story will go which starts around 2-3 hours before the ending of The Raid 2.

Words can't describe how much love I have for these films...

The Raid 1 pretty much got me into foreign films to begin with, Gareth Evans has done such a great job with both of these.

The Raid 2 has pretty much topped my Best of 2014 list so far (hence my profile pic and signature).

However, Mr. Evans says he isn't doing The Raid 3 for another 3-4 years, which does suck, but it's something I understand because he wants to do 2 films outside of Indonesia, which are called Blister and Breaking the Bank.

But if you want something to tide you over until then, get yourself excited for films called Killers and The Night Comes For Us. (They feature actors from both films and Gareth Evans produced the former and helped write the latter.)

Yeah pretty much excited for Night Comes Before Us.

It does sucks that we have to wait for a long time for the third film but i look at it like this, it could give Mr. Evans some time to think about something that could top both movies. I mean setting up a story that starts 3 hours before the ending of The Raid 2 is pretty hard and interesting.

Brilliant movies. Not all about action, but it kinda is. They're the best of the best and am happy to hear Gareth Evans isn't rushing it into a trilogy. The third has to be just as amazing as the first two.

Wow, you were missing out before this then. Can you recall when you first saw either of "The Raid" movies?

👍 for Killers and The Night Comes For Us. I might have heard about them eventually, but now it's a sure thing.

Yeah, same this not long after the original .REC (also set in an apartment building - but otherwise quite different ;)) Great film with a very nice Oldboy reminiscent scene in it too. good to hear that there will be a third film at some point.

May I suggest Chocolate as your next film then? Not the Hallstrom film - but the Thai one:

i got the first Raid from a guy at work free who said it was rubbish and way over the top, thought i'd give it a go not expecting much, and really loved it! that last fight scene with Mad Dog in it was soooooo epic :-)

got the second one on day of release and fully enjoyed it

the US are remaking the first one and Gareth Evans wants Scott Adkins in it, a perfect casting i think, but, i dont think hes got the star power for a big budget hollywood film
