Some hints for Kazunori concerning the Online Car Life Simulator for the (near) future.

I have been dreaming about this since i was a kid...

-What about making it a real time game, including a map of the complete world with random traffic and possibility of coming across everybody that bought the game.
-What about including all real race tracks but you have to drive towards the track or go by public transport (drive to the airport, railway station...). That means you dont have to race if you don't feel like. Could be fantastic just to cruise around in your 60's Vette.
-What about having the home location set to the exact buyer's home location
-What about constantly updating the game so that buyers can upload for instance pictures of their home location to make the GT world look exactly like the real one.
-What about having the possibility of making custom racing challenges, where you can invite people to. The friends list could be filled when you meet people at regular races or even with the friends of that people you meet...
-What about the idea that, to buy a new car you gotta go to the dealer somewhere near you, or you can buy 2nd hand cars online. People can offer their own cars for sale also.
-What about the idea to be able to actually start the engine
-What about the idea to have a social status in the game (how many crashes, what kind of cars do you own, how many...)
-What about the idea of some cars are limited in amount (fe concept cars) so they are hard to get and you need certain status to be able to buy em.
-What about if you crash real hard, you need to go to the hospital which means u can't play for a couple of realtime hours/days

I could go on much longer, Kazunori r u listening?

How about let's just forget about actually racing altogether! It had almost slipped my mind that GT wasn't about racing, but about cruising the suburbs and making friends.

Half of those ideas would be impossible to implement, the other half make the game incredibly tedious. There is a realism, and then there "so realistic, I might as well not play a video game game, and just start racing for real". No offense, but your ideas are pretty reaching. Having to travel to location? Most of the tracks are on entirely different continents, and waiting to get there would be an enduro in and of itself. The crash and wait idea, also, would make game play so long for many people, that all fun could quickly vanish if you have to wait 3 days to play because of one wrong turn. I know I sure as hell wouldn't put up with it. The beauty of GT is that it is very realistic, but you don't have put up with the little stuff like you do in real life.

As I read that list, I kept thinking that it sounded oddly familiar... Then I realized I've played that game already. It's called Test Drive Unlimited. Which, aside from having cars in it, bears no resemblance whatsoever to Gran Turismo. So you could hardly turn GT into TDU without losing everything that makes GT GT.

I'm looking forward to this real racing life simulator, but what that life will entail will probably be focused on the race track, on or offline.

What will Kaz put into it? Who knows, but I expect it to be a magnificent ride, involving much of what real live racing is all about. Will we have to manually pay for repairs, or they don't get fixed? I do hope so. I laughed last year about how funny it would be to total a car, and have it sitting in my garage unfixed. And what difference does it make if the damage is paid for by the game automatically, or I push a repair button?

Dealerships? Yes, I want them. I like the maps that the game provides as a UI to navigate to different functions. No, I don't want to drive down the roads on them, but I do like the concept of giving us a world, even if it's just an overview. I like the idea of having dealerships separated into new, elite, new and used, used, used bargains, fixer-uppers, junkyard, classifieds, whatever.

I'm begging for a Career Mode that reflects reality, that has you starting from scratch with only some money to go car shopping with. One game actually starts off like my dream of Career Mode, with an email. This kind of stuff has me drooling at the possibilities. I want this career to have different leagues operating at different tracks in a specific schedule, so that some days certain tracks are closed because races are scheduled for them. I want to have to follow that schedule while I'm in Career Mode. If I want to goof off and have fun, there's still GT Mode or Arcade. Or mayb3 with Career Mode, GT and Arcade could be folded together, who knows. But I'm expecting Kaz to finally flex his muscle and show off something truly spectacular, and show the world what a racing game should have been like all along.

GT5 Prologue is pencilled in for a fall release, and I can hardly wait. Oh well, there's GT4 I have yet to finish.

That's just impossible.

No way, GT is about cars, not ships or planes or trains. And no-one wants to own a Ferrari 599 GTB and just cruise.

What about having the home location set to the exact buyer's home location

Lord, can you imagine how much work would be needed to replicate a full-sized earth?! I'd rather PD spent all these delay times working on cars, not the racing world.

What about constantly updating the game so that buyers can upload for instance pictures of their home location to make the GT world look exactly like the real one.

No offence, but what is it with you and this magical free-roaming world?

What about having the possibility of making custom racing challenges, where you can invite people to. The friends list could be filled when you meet people at regular races or even with the friends of that people you meet...

This would be quite good, actually, but only in PS3 Online. You know, make up a race and invite other users you know. Not a bad idea.

What about the idea that, to buy a new car you gotta go to the dealer somewhere near you, or you can buy 2nd hand cars online. People can offer their own cars for sale also.

The "dealer near you" is not going to be possible considering
that PD will NOT be including a free roam world. However, the buying and selling cars online thing is an excellent idea!

What about the idea to be able to actually start the engine

This would be great... :D

What about the idea to have a social status in the game (how many crashes, what kind of cars do you own, how many...)

A kind of "ranking" system would be a good idea actually.

What about the idea of some cars are limited in amount (fe concept cars) so they are hard to get and you need certain status to be able to buy em.

Another good idea, but only if they include the ranking thing.

What about if you crash real hard, you need to go to the hospital which means u can't play for a couple of realtime hours/days

This is just plain silly.

I wish these types of threads would just go away in the GT forum. If this is what you want then create a thread in the NFS or TDU area that states "I wish NFS would have more real world race tracks and race cars". GT should never become a "open world" type of game. We want a track racing game and lets leave it at that. I don't want all racing games to mesh together into every game having the same goals and qualities as the last. Stop hitting up PD to be like the others and spend your time getting EA, Rockstar or whoever to be more racing like.

Actually, GT2 had a great event creator where you could define the type and capabilities of the cars, the course and number of laps, and it was offline. I played the heck out of that, and I think it would be a fantastic addition to GT5. Although it may take forever to get to it, if GT5 is as big as I think it's going to be. :P

MightyL, your desires might be finally met! Considering what we have heard AND seen from Sony at this year's GDC, the new HOME platform could be a launching pad for many other attachments.

Imagine your HOME virtual apartment having a virtual garage where you keep your GT5 rides. From your HOME you can invite friends and start a GT play session.....you can showcase them your cars(walk around your garage (PGR3 + TDU style)..endless possibilities. Also, P. Harrison said that "KY has some very AMBITIOUS goals for GT5...." What a teaser!

Ah, found this thread with search. Amidst all the crying, I think everyone has forgotten about KY's plans for a "car life simulator." I can't believe there hasn't been more speculation as to what that would mean. GT might be very different..

I take "car life" to mean your driving career, and everything that would revolve around it. Create your character, get started racing. Build a name for yourself as a racer or maybe a tuner. Get sponsored, become a celebrity. Start your own tuning garage with your own signature "livery." Manage your race team (or just join someone elses through sponsorship.) And hell yes, drive on public roads where you try to obey the law (would be harder than any kind of race.)

All the while being very social throrugh PSN.
