another 2 of my "realistic" efforts

I will Give Shinzah some credit for his "IN YOUR FACE" picture... it captures the moment... Its dark and rainy in Japan streetlights reflect off of the road, I can tell exactly which model of Skyline he is driving... But it is not "Realistic" It in no way tricks me into thinking that the picture, sans the GT watermark, could ever be real.

This is the REALISTIC photo thread, not the Artistic, or AwEz0m3 P1X thread... don't get it twisted... if you want criticism, post it in the correct forum, and you will get all the praise you want, but don't expect people to buy a cow if all they want is bacon.
And to be quite honest, none of what you've posted so far has made me think even twice that they could be realistic. In fact, 95% of this thread won't fool people. Some of that is people just posting for the sake of it, & some of that is because you just can't hide the fact this is a game.

For the other 5%, they achieved their photos through just the right lighting, angles, etc.

BTW, you're nobody to be telling anyone that they shouldn't have never uploaded a photo. Some of the photos on your flickr are no better than his.

Wonderpill never said that they shouldn't have uploaded them. And before sinzah started his quest against wonderpill there was no bashing of anykind. Just critique... Which in my opinion is only a good thing.

He did indeed.
I'm not going to lie... That Camaro Picture should never have been saved on your PS3, never been booted to your XMB, never been copied to a thumbdrive, never been uploaded to the internet, and definitely NEVER used to end an argument about photography, with someone that is out of your league.
No one in this thread has any kind of authority to say such things to other members.

God this thread is full of some awful trolling, why the mods dont make these sort of posts in the photo forums IMAGE only i have no idea. would solve alot of dramas.

Wasn't that answer to Shinzah?

Maybe wonderpill was a bit too harsh but Shinzah bitching about critisicm is a bit childish. So I don't blame wonderpill for losing selfcontrol for a moment with him. This thread is about realistic shots not just about random snaps.

99% of pictures taken in the era of digitalcameras are.., what they are. So maybe all of the photos in this thread are realistic...

This whole deal would be a totally different thing if this were "post your shots" or "post your artistic photos".

I'm not trying to be elitist or see myself as a better photographer than you or him.

I think peoples problem with him is the fact he starting going on and on about stuff without even posting pictures, then he submitted 2 pictures after a rant as some sort of justification and continued on his merry trolling ways.

why can't there just be a seperate thread for discussion and one for photos only? i stopped coming in here because of all the trash talking and back and forth its become ridiculous.

In the beginning this thread was an inspiration to an aspiring photographer, now it makes me question weather i want to even get into the business at all with all this elitism.

Maybe all of us can learn something here.

#1 Don't let anyone unwilling to take critique get under your skin.
#2 If you post here be ready to take some advices when given.
#3 If someone unnecessarily bashes others photos ignore him/her. Don't feed a troll

Wonder is just as guilty. You don't come in here saying things like this....
Nice Shot! I don't know if people are taking my advice, or if its just coincidence, but the quality seems to be getting closer together... again, some folks still want to just post pictures somewhere.

but I can say honestly that there has been a HUGE jump in the last few posts!
Without someone questioning you.

However, the fact that he told another member his photo wasn't worth uploading & that he pointed that this was the "Realistic" photo thread in turn not posting anything that looked like a real photo himself was hypocritical.

Shinzah didn't just question him. Do not overlook wonderpill's or Shinzah's other posts. (wonderpill did post link to his flickr account)

wonderpill gave constructive criticism and then shinzah started to question wonderpill's view on realism. Maybe wonderpill should have left it there but in this case he was right. Realism isn't relative. Art is or someone's view on what is good photo and what isn't.

Maybe both did a foolishly but wonderpill only tried to help others. And he only gave the right "ideas" for realistic photography

I used to do this professionally for about 7 years so maybe I should be photo king?:sly:

In all seriousness there's some damn good stuff on here but I think if you ever take it up professionally or even just take your camera to the track you'll find it very constrictive compared to GT's photomode!

P.S. don't expect to make much money off it either!

I know you have been a member here for at least 10 days now, and that you are the BEST photographer GT5 has to offer... but my Recommendation to you is to do a color check on your monitor... perhaps you have your whiteness setting set to Cool, or Warm... instead of clear.

You could continue to try my patience... or you could open the picture and look at it... and discover what you are doing wrong.

The fact that your OLDER picture, that was Just "LAYING" around on your computer, is thousands of times better than your newer stuff, tells me one of two things...

Either you are a fluke, and just happened to land a decent photo... or that you have no quality control.

I'm not going to lie... That Camaro Picture should never have been saved on your PS3, never been booted to your XMB, never been copied to a thumbdrive, never been uploaded to the internet, and definitely NEVER used to end an argument about photography, with someone that is out of your league.

Like I said, The Corvette Picture I am Jealous of... its a GREAT picture, but I wonder if someone with your attitude deserves to take pictures like that, and after seeing what you have produced lately, I doubt it is even yours.

So what... I erase color from REAL pictures all the time

I think the Camaro pic (which isnt even one of Shinzah's best from the others I've seen) looked more real than anything I've seen you post wonderpill. Not trying to get involved here or anything, but I think you should maybe take a step back from the keyboard and have a wee re-evaluation... Your pictures really aren't that good, in my opinion.

apparently people that want my opinion... I'd show you my inbox... but that is not necessary.

It's ok that some People Don't know who I am... I don't plan on explaining myself... But if you plan on asking my opinion and then bashing me... you might want to do it via PM instead of in front of the community... it takes some Humility out of it.

If you want to know a little about me... Click on My Name... Or search on Google for Wonderpill... Chances are you will find Gran Turismo related things back into the 90's...

At some point I got into photography, Namely ATV racing... didn't do much with it for money, just for friends... I started taking some HORRIBLE pictures back on GT4... which opened the flood gates for me when Forza 2 came out... Winning Photo competitions often, I bowed out, and decided to work on Photo Projects with other members of the ForzaMotorsport.net site.

In a contest Held By Microsoft and Hyundai, I won actual prizes, of which were all photography related... I have gone on to make tutorials on Photography tricks, and mostly known for teaching people how to find the perfect Composure for a photo.

If you decide to look for me on Forza, You Should Look For Apex Omega instead of Wonderpill... but only if you are curious

I been reading the shenanigans and I simply must stick my foot in the festivities.

For a teacher of 'perfect composure' for a photo, you surely love your seemingly unimaginative full frame shots of cars. Where, pray tell, does the rule of thirds come into any of the following?

Not Sure These are Realistic Enough to keep you happy, but here.

^This one is more of What Should be in an Artistic Photo Thread^

^ How on earth does a full frame 3/4 shot of a car on a slight angle qualify for 'aritstic'?

If you seem so intent on blowing your own horn, I'm sure the uber skilled entrants of the 2.0 comps would love for you to go and wow them too..

Also, + rep for use of the selective colour filter - commonly used by the elite photographers on this forum...

I'm not trying to break your great spirits, but give it a rest, eh?

/\ hahahaha at thia thread..........best forum advice is to post about the things you like and ignore the things you dont, do I heed to this, not nearly as often as I should.

Hey cool, you found out how to spell my name properly.

As for the rest, at the risk of getting a second warning. I'm not even going to bother. But I hope both you and your friend got one as well for your clear and much worse then my, AUP infractions.

You and Wonderpill can rant about how false colours are realistic vs artistic all day. Obviously I, and the thread, is downright sick of it.

Also +1 to Veryferry, takki, Mclaren, Dredre, 80Y 2C2 and any other person who "Gets it" that I might have missed.

And +5 Internets to Ragnar. Making photos mandatory would fix this thread and the people in it.

Another picture.

Actually, food for thought edit:

Also I would like to add that in my humble opinion realism isn't subjective. Artistic style is another matter. There's a lot of good photos in this thread that would qualify as art. But this is "Realistic photos" not artistic...

I'm more of a artistic type. Apex on the otherhand has always nailed the realistic and I've learned a lot from him in that matter.

If this debate has not proved to you anything, it should be that any artform is subjective. Including ultra realism.

Reality is entirely subjective. Nobody has the right to say who or what is "Realistic". Not even scientists know every aspect of "Reality" And its clear that Photographers know even less. If I were colourblind, and posted a purple car on a green road with a pink sky and a fuschia sun with indigo clouds, because that is how I percieve reality, who would you be to tell me otherwise. Theres a difference between criticism, which neither of you have offered and elitism, which there are oodles of.

Get back to the thread and end this. My inbox is always open.

I really like this shot, and thanks for agreeing with me.

I dont mind all the debating and back and forth etc but I just fail to see how there can't be seperate threads for discussions/debates/philosphies whatever and a thread just for posting pics.

Maybe we can petition the mods or something.

Realism =/= Filters/Film

This.

There's a difference between a photo from GT5 that looks like a real photograph, and a photo from GT5 that looks like reality.

Neither are wrong in this thread, since the OP didn't specify.

There is a dedicated thread for seeking feedback on your pics, so if you want to play art critic all day, do it for the people who want their pics critiqued.

I actually went in after a race the other day to try and get shots to look as realistic as possible...guess I found the right place to share 'em. :)
