I mean, it's the world's worst picture of the guy, but what's so wrong with the site and message? He's a state representative candidate, for bob's sake, and not a major-party one at that. He probably had a budget of a hundred bucks.

Dude, his name is Jerry Kohn. He was an Illinois U.S. Senate candidate, he pulled in more votes than Alan Keyes.

Its got to be a joke site...look at these pledges

Abolish the federal income tax and replace it with NOTHING. Jerry believes that what you earn belongs to you and that you should not be forced to surrender 40-50% of your income to government.

Restore the stability and integrity of the American dollar and end persistent inflation and recessions by returning to a currency backed 100% by gold.

There is so much info on the site it looks real...crazy world!

I don't get it. Why are we saying that it's a joke? I mean, OK, I get the Jerry Kohn thing, but I truly fail to understand why everybody's mouth is open in disbelief.

More votes than Keyes? Cool!

I just breezed through the site. He is not joking. Everything in his platform is 100% by-the-book Libertarian.

I think the reason you don't see many strong, viable Libertarian candidates is because most libertarians who possess those qualities are off actually leading productive lives rather than trying to run for office.

Now I'm just confused – I thought Doug pointed it out just because of his name?

So what happens to the US if the gold standard comes back and income taxes are eliminated ? Think about that for a second or two. I do not care to revisit the stone age any time soon.....maybe THATS why a libertarian will never be elected. ( BTW the US economy is so large that ALL the gold in the world x 100,000 would still not be enough to match the current value of the dollar ). So what thought process went into that ? you destroy to create ?

It was meant as a joke against his name, but you came in and thought it to be a joke against either his platform or his Website. I have no problems with Libertarians running for office, so long as they're never elected, because the people voting for them are wasting their vote, which I like.

More votes than Keyes? Cool!

Yeah, but a trained monkey could've gotten more votes than Keyes.

They're Libertarians. They frequently don't think.

Actually, this guy seems fairly intelligent, but Libertarians have no grasp of the real world if they think their policies can work. In a world completely full of Libertarian government, it would be perfect. But in THIS world, their policies cannot be implemented.
