The revenge of B9 Tribeca

Hey all -

Although I've recently only limited this knowledge to a couple of friends here on the boards, I'll be blunt - last week I settled a two-month-old lawsuit for an "undisclosed" sum of money with the City of New York concerning a car accident I had there in December.

Tuesday I purchased an oil field south of Kilgore, Texas. The town's tiny - maybe you can find it on an atlas. The story goes that this was an active oil field for sixty years, however in the last month, it has become economically unfeasible for larger oil companies to drain it of its natural resources so they packed up and left, leaving people like me - evidently I'm some sort of business man - to come and dry it out.

Not the point.

From now on, I'll be splitting my time between Texas and Chicago and will be basically unable to post on GTPlanet during the week, excepting the occaisional post here and there. On weekends it'll be the same as always. Normally I wouldn't be sad under conditions like this, however I love this place!!

I hope this explains why I won't be around much. This should all change in late April, when my fiancee (what a title!) and I move to Louisiana and I'll be able to make the commute very much easier (provided I have the correct fast car).

Thanks for listening and I'll see you around. :)

I took delivery of my new Volvo XC90 SUV today. I wasn't supposed to get it until around my GTP join date, but somebody cancelled theirs and the local Jaguar-Volvo dealer called me up and told me about this 'once in a lifetime opportunity.'

The point is, I got it a month early. I wanted silver, but black will certainly do. Unfortunately, this one's got seven-passenger seating. Perhaps I'll have five kids to compensate. Without further ado...

[I have more pictures, but I'll post them at another time.]

As long as we're databasing, and this is for research :P :

- '03 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8
- '03 Volvo XC90 T6
- E46 BMW M3 Coupe
- '99 Ford F150 extended cab 4x4 (I don't actually use or own this car, I just pay the taxes on it. What a gyp.)

M5Power Jun 9 2003 in the "GTP Member's cars directory. What do you drive?" thread
- I have three cars (Volvo XC90, E46 BMW M3, Lancer EVO 8)

I have a '91 300ZX. :D
Why do you lie? Why?

I have this now.

I've grafted my license plate into the top right - I urge you to memorise it or write it down then come stalk me. Sometimes I get lonely, after all.

I'm going up to a BMW place tomorrow to get a 330Xi

If you want any of my other cars, you can have them - pay what they're worth, and you pick the car - as long as it isn't Japanese, no - I'm keeping that (it's singular) a year.

Don't you all feel happy to be informed?

By the way, I'm in New York. Manhattan, actually. Stop by and say 'hi' - I bet there's only about 3 million people besides me here, I should be easy to find!

That's all.

M5Power Sep 03 2003
I can now happily say I drive six million cars, as of the most current update:

- '97 Jeep Grand Cherokee
- '88 Lancia Delta Integrale
- '99 BMW 740i
- '03 Subaru Outback VDC H6 sedan (and loving it!!)
- '03 BMW 330xi sedan
- '82 (or something) Nissan or Datsun pickup (or something)

Most of those are for sale, but I'm not selling them yet (excepting the pickup). Seems like a contradiction? It isn't.

Maybe I should list my cars.

I've got a 2002 BMW M5 and a few others. I'm very proud. :D

When I joined here I was a pretty normal, boring professional - kind of like milefile.

That would be funny, but milefile's basically stopped posting here.

Anyway... on a business trip in late 2002, I had a bad car crash in New York City with a city-owned vehicle, I sued the city and settled. With the money from the lawsuit, I bought an oil field in east Texas (which I recently sold for a good profit) and I made several other solid investments. I got married recently, and in hopes of raising a family and living a great life with my wife, I bought a house in Tennessee on 100 acres - and with a four-car garage. Hence all the cars.

That's the deal. 👍

Okay people. This thread is inspired by ///M-Spec's thread of similar purpose several months ago. Although we all know he had his mind made up loooonnnnng before he made that thread. :D

Anyway - as many of you know I have a few cars but the one I use most is a 2004 Mercedes CLK55, the best car I've ever owned. I've had it seven months now, but in a month I'm moving it down to my "vacation house" where it'll live a few more years. Consequently, I'll need a suitable replacement.

Basically it must follow these stipulations:

- Less than 190" long
- Automatic transmission w/ manual shift capability
- Four seats but not necessarily four usable seats and certainly not necessarily four doors
- Under $85,000 MSRP new
- Good spec: DVD navigation system, heated leather, sunroof, etc.

Those are basically it. The $85000 stipulation is false because whatever I choose I'm not buying new, but an $85000 MSRP is about the kind of car I want used. Or something. Anyway, I've got these ideas already:

- Audi S4 sedan
- BMW X3 3.0i
- Infiniti FX45
- Mercedes C55 AMG
- Mercedes CLK55 AMG
- Volvo S60R

I'm not actually asking if you agree with those but rather simply for other ideas given those conditions. When it comes down to it, this car is my daily driver and I want it to be good enough to follow the CLK. Any suggestions?

Just so you know, lots of people buy the Cayenne for reasons other than "being seen." When I bought mine, I had three objectives:

- fast as hell
- significant off-road ability
- lots of stuff

A lot of vehicles met two of those requirements, but not the third; the Cayenne was an exception.

Then again, not a lot of people have that second requirement, and I suggest something else to them.

I have a 2004 Mercedes CLK55 AMG with an aftermarket supercharger from Kleemann Tuning. Before the supercharger, my car had 362 horsepower; after the supercharger it's 555. Without launching my car with 362 horsepower, I was able to run a 14.019 second quarter mile; with the addition of the supercharger and with moderate launches (with traction control on) I can now run 12.558 - with a full tank of gas. I'm hoping that can improve by about a second by fooling around with the traction control and losing some weight with all that gas. I love my car. I've owned nearly forty and this has been the best by a long measure. I've had it a year and a half and have absolutely no plans to get rid of it at any time in any near future ever.

My wife has a 2003 Audi S6. When it was built, it was the quickest station wagon ever built; it's still the fastest. Myself and my wife don't complain about the vehicle; it serves its purpose nicely and it's a quick grocery-getter. I love the interior, but I wish the control panel were nicer. We also have a 1993 GMC Typhoon. I like it very much, but when you get right down to it, I only keep it around because I like how rare it is. Otherwise, I already have a two-door vehicle that's more luxurious and quite a bit quicker. Still, Ty is the quickest factory SUV ever built, and it's twelve years old.

We also have a Volkswagen which we bought like a month ago and we're getting rid of soon. I told my wife we didn't need the damn car and she disagreed. I want to get a brand new 545i to serve as our new car since we're in the process of getting a new house and those two things go together. I found two perfect ones, but new 545is are so damn expensive for what they are, so I'm reconsidering.

That's my life right now.
What happened? Being able to spend $85,000 on a car 2 years ago to only $9,000 now? Did your oil field run out of oil?

How was the M5?

How was the AMG Merc?

How was the Cayenne?

How's the wife?

See, you always new I would bite your face.

OK, we all know now that M5power made all this stuff up. There's no reason to let him forget it, ever, but there's no reason to rake him over the coals about it, either.
