I really liked both the Ring and the Ringu(Japanese), so I wanted to see this sequel pretty badly.

Well, I just got back from the theater and I gotta tell you................................................................ it was ok.

Plot, acting and intensity were nowhere near the first one IMO, and the horror of the original was almost absent. Weak horror was especially disappointing to me, because the first Ring was the scariest movie I had ever seen. Naomi Watts was very sexy in it though(in a subtle way). :P  I give this movie a "C", but if you include Naomi into the calculation, it's an "B-".

Instead of watching this film in the theaters, I recommend renting it for a couple of reasons:

1. Because the movie is just ok.
2. Seats will be filled with bunch of annoying kids who will talk thru the entire movie. Seriously, this was the most annoying experience at the movie theater ever(there were three cell phone interruption, one guy actually answered it). Last time audience got this out of hand was the Fast and the Furious. Even in that movie, the punks shut up 15 minutes into the movie.

Anyways, what do you guys think about this movie? :) If you've seen it, what did you think?

I saw it last night, and you are SO RIGHT about the teenage ****S that invade the local AMC every time there's a horror movie playing. Teenage girls who are so scared all they can do is laugh and giggle at all the parts that are somewhat scary. Teenage boys with their hats on crooked. More teenagers flipping open their cellphones constantly throughout the movie to see if anyone's called them (which is hard to believe because all the friends they have are sitting right next to them). People eating Nibs and M and M's who seem to have a real problem extracting the candy from the bag without making so much noise you can hear it out in the lobby. So much cologne covering up so much adolescent BO that you'd almost rather have the BO.

Add to that how much this movie stunk and you've got a waste of a perfectly good Friday night. I saw The Ring, and didn't understand why a sequel was necessary. Then I remembered why ALL sequels are made. For MONEY.

Hideo Nakata directed this sad excuse for a follow-up to a remarkably scary movie. He sucks. The movie sucks. Naomi Watts' nipples make yet another appearance through her wet bra and shirt (they can be seen poking through in almost all of her movies). The little boy is even more freaky and weird than in the first movie, leading me to believe he's like that in real life. Did anyone see him eat that sandwich on the couch with Watts? He looked like a raccoon that just found a weiner in the trash. And he blinks so often I wished I had Samara's powers to reach through the screen and punch him in the face.

The movie was bad because it had absolutely NO flow or momentum. No tension was being built up. I didn't feel anxious at all through the whole movie. It was just a series of episodes tacked on to one another and strung up in the hopes of passing for a coherent narrative. The plot makes sense, but only barely. It's a horror sequel, and you're supposed to out-do the original in frights and overall scariness. Didn't happen.

I know this turd will make a lot of money, which means that in a year or two I'll be walking through my neighbourhood Blockbuster and see The Ring Three as a straight-to-video threequel. And that will be bad, but at least I won't be compelled to pick it up and rent it, like some adolescents I know who are as capable of pissing you off in the video rental store as they are of doing the same thing whilst sitting behind you in a movie theatre.

:sly: Man, you guys actually WENT to see that ****? Wasted money, indeed. I weep for you (silently laughs inside with all his strength). :sly:

Your comment hurts. Let me tell you the last few movies I paid full admission on:

The Village - would've made an good Twilight Zone episode, sucks as an motion picture.
The Forgotten - might've been worse than the Village.
Alien Vs. Predator - It was so silly, I wanted to start laughing towards the end of this movie.
Constantine - It was pretty good.
Ring 2 - Nowhere near the first one.

Yes, I'm a big winner! 👎

All the above films mensioned i actually liked:
The Village - 7/10, Yes it was a rubbish "twist", but i thought the film & acting were very good.
The Forgotten - 7/10, slightly stupid, but enjoyable.
Alien Vs. Predator - 7/10, even if the movie was full of daft holes, the actual AVP fight was absolutely ace!
Constantine - 6/10, this is easily the worts out of these, very dissapointed & the finale fight against all the demons is the biggest blade rip off ever

And the ring two. Well IMO the american The ring i think was better than RIngu 1 or 2. I found Ringu to be extremely tedious & boring. Ringu 2 creeped me out a lil bit, but after a re-watch of the 1 scene that did creep me out, it didnt succeed a 2nd time. The Ring is the best film & The ring two was a good sequal.

I no wat u mean about all the annoying kids sitting thru these films, but The Ring is a 15 and u shudnt have them in there, i watched this with a mate in the easter hols & there was only 2 other ppl in there & i didnt here a peep from them! lucky us.

Actually The Ring Two is rated 14A here in Canada. That means anyone 14 or older can get in. Little kids were nowhere to be seen when I saw the movie in theatres, and they would have actually been PREFERRABLE to the teenage submorons that WERE there. I hate all people, male and female, between the ages of 12 and 18. They should be rounded up and shipped off to a plantation where they can be properly trained to exist in society.

 Sometimes, you say the funniest things. 👍
Edit:
555: I remember you! Didn't we disagree on bunch of movies in the Bourne Supremacy thread too?

Maybe, I know I hate The Bourne Supremacy, but hey, that's what these forums are for, disagreeing with each other!

edit: darn, didn't realize you weren't talking to me.

Cant remember. But yes i do hate the boure identity. Supremacy is slightly more likeable. But its just Matt Damon, he cant do action!

It should be anyone under 18 should be shipped off somewere. (i am 19 few!)

When we saw a trailer for Ring 2, there was a group of girls infront of us talking all the way through until that traielr came on and they jumped out there seats and was quiet from then on! lol

 No, I didn't like Supremacy either. I loved the Bourne Identity. I think we agree on most flicks.

It was you! I remember little bit more now. I think you said that Bourne Supremacy and Long Kiss Goodnight were still better than Bourne Identity. :scared:

Not exactly in those words, but yes I do think The long kiss goodnight is better than either Bournes.
Identity i think is just plane bad, but supremacy is more watchable, but still quite boring.
1 thing i hate in supremacy was that the fights were to close up, kinda P WS Anderson style. Yet when he does it everyone moans that he cant direct. But when its done in a Matt Damon movie its ok!??

The Ring Two comes out on DVD this Tuesday. I thought the movie was just OK. Maybe a "C-". You shouldn't buy this movie, but I think it's worth a rental, if you like horror movies. :)
