Because sometimes a certain amount weight transfer is needed for effective cornering, and adding a roll cage reduces that weight transfer(as a result of the car being more stiff).
 
Rollcage does not add weight. and it does not reduce weight transfer. it makes the body stiffer, just like chassis refresh plan. without rollcage, the car's body will flex under hard cornering. and understeer depends about your driving style. if you know how you can do weight transfer, the rollcage does not cause understeer, on the contrary, it makes cornering more stabile and easier to control.
 
Your car may understeer with the cage, and it may not. Even if it does, in many cases you can also tune out the understeer by adjusting your suspension. As long as you know how to do that, you really don't have anything to lose(other than 50,000 cr).
