The stock Lister V12 at the Dream Car Championship

I decided to try the Lister for this series because it still had 0 miles since I won it, I had read not very flattering comments on it and after reading O.G.s threads i was feeling a little guilty about having picnic races.

I previewed some of the races and saw that the Zonda, Fairlady and GT 40 Spec II were the strongest cars with the Zonda and the Fairlady blowing everybody out of the water in the races I previewed.

So I went through my list of cars and other than those three (and the BMW MCLaren), the next one down (in HP - but still with a wing) was the Lister. Almost 100 HP down on the Zonda and Fairlady and close to in regards to the GT40 II.

Race 1 (131 points) looked fairly promissing. I qualified 1st just 0.7 seconds ahead of the Fairlady. I worked out that my last couple of laps would be tough since the tires would be red all around. The whole race I had the Fairlady not farther than 2 seconds behind. "This is fun" I thought. I would put on one second on him up until the long straight and then he would take that second away in just that straight.

Then the tires started going and he became a permanent fixture in my rear view mirror. I wasn't making any mistakes but he was eating away my lead by .2 per lap. Then on the second last lap he drove past me on the straight. My tires were shot and within 1/2 lap I had lost 5 seconds to him and had my mirror full of Zonda... not good :ill:

On the last lap the Zonda tried the same manouver as the Fairlady but I went off the racing line trying to block him. He was on my left and we both ended up doing a sideways slide in to the tight right hander. I (Unwillingly) used him as a turning aid and he got a nose full of concrete barrier. Finished 2nd 9 seconds behind the fairlady.

Race 2 qualifying was the nail in the coffin for the lister. I did lap after lap but could not qualify better than 4th. I started the race and got jumped by 5th place and pushed out of the way on the first turn by the one other car... I called it quits at the end of lap 2 since all I can do was trail 5th place....

So it was so long to the Lister. No point in racing the series if all I can expect is to finsih second in the slow courses.

The next car up in HP was the BMW McLaren. 10 points per race and that thing blows past the Zonda and the Fairlady like they are not there. It also has much better tire life than the Lister. But the races are almost too easy to be worth a write up. I mean, After race 1 I started not qualifying and still won by more than 5 seconds.

I don't know if you have this, or if it would make it too easy for you, but I used the XJ220 LM and got a decent challenge out of the Zonda and GT40 spec II.

The Honda S2000 LM has the least available HP of any of the "dream cars". I tweaked it a bit and won the DCC with it, but left stock it should make the series the challenge you're looking for. It isn't a prize car. You have to buy it.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. I did it in the BMW F1 as I wasn't looking for a challenge as much as I was looking for a way to do it for $0.

But then again I got into the PD Cup and that was a really weird one. The difference in performance between cars is so silly. Pitting a Mini and a Jazz against the SL55... what was PD thinking of? I choose the Syline 400R and it offered 7 points per race. So I dropped down to the HSC (80HP less) and then it took away the SL and put the Audi S3 and the Integra as the tougher cars in the line up (1 point per race). I couldn't be bothered looking for a challenge so I left B-Spec bob to run the series int he HSC. Which he totally dominated.

At least the Like the Wind race seems like it is going to be interesting...
