The time has come - a bit of advice on Racing Seats

Having got hold of a T300RS as I was getting sick and tired of stripping down the G29 pedal set to clean the pots every few days, I was somewhat disappointed this morning to find the the T300 won't fit on my table - the table has a supporting strut near the edges that's too large for the clamp. Ah well.

So a racing seat it has to be. I've kind of narrowed it down to these choices, but I'm obviously open to others.

I'm really looking for something that will scale with me, so if in a year or so I decide to go to a DD wheel

Playseat is out as a brand as I think the centre shaft for the wheel is an utterly stupid design choice, their products appear rather flimsy, and I'm really not down with a company that tries to charge nearly €250 for a bloody camping chair (Playseat Challenge)

Out of the 3 above the Next Level Racing has most of my interest as it's readily available here, plus they do a motion rig which might be an option further down the line. The others I'll have to import and that means playing a stacked game of Roulette with Herr Schweizer Zollmann (Mr Swiss Customs Man), who when faced with something he's not sure about will just pull a figure out of his arse and slap it on as duty.

So, what do you guys think?

Go for an 8020 style rig, Sim lab have plenty of options, if you are thinking of dd or something to build upon then this is what you want.

The only one I have experienced is the next level rig and I would heavily dissuade you from that, especially if you are thinking of going DD down the line. They are very heavy and the sturdiness doesn't match the weight. The seat is also very flimsy and creates and incredible amount of static.

I've had an 80/20 rig from www.sim-lab.eu for just under a year and it has been a revelation. It is rock solid and I can't imagine it being possible for any other rig on the market being as solid. The ability to adjust it to your own situation is second to none. I've been able to add my own bespoke monitor mount solution, speaker mount solution and was even able to very easily add my Next Level Motion Rig to it.

And because you can order individual pieces from an 80/20 supplier you can easily makes specific changes to your rig in the future at very little cost. It's incredibly easy to put together and adjust. Without a doubt this will be the last rig I need to buy as it bullet proof so will last forever and the ability to add what I want to it in the future means I won't need another new rig.

I have a Playseat Evolution in black vinyl (10 years old this month), & have to say that it's not in the least bit flimsy. Apart from some kind of natural patina that's formed on the metal work, it's as good as the day I bought it. I got used to the center shaft quite quickly, & it doesn't bother me. That said, I would prefer a seat without one. Although the frame is rock solid there is some movement, as the metal parts are not exactly locked into place (just screwed together) & can move slightly under heavy usage.

All in all it's a great seat & I'm very happy with it, but, there are what seem to be better seats on the market these days so I think you're right to go with one of them instead. I haven't ever used anything else, so can't recommend based on experience, but, have you considered something from the GT Omega range?

👍

I need a adjustable rig with caster support (to have an ability to put everything away because now I get alot of complaints for my rig in the middle of the room :D ) and max lenght of 1.6m to fit between my sofa and tv.

To my understanding Rseat S1 checks all those points? But they are out of stock in europe since black friday.

I would also put the simetek k2 on that shortlist.
