As some of you have seen in the "Post a pic of your car" thread this is my Camaro:

And I'm currently thinking about painting it the following colors.

Blue as seen here:

Black as seen here:

Teal as seen here:

So of these which would you choose? I'm leaning towards black, but the blue really shines.

Normally I'm a white/blue guy when it comes to Camaros, but I think with the 3rd Gen the Teal may look better. Have you ever looked into copying GM's Bermuda Blue? It is a pretty wild teal, and if you are planning to mod the Camaro, it would be a pretty eye-catching color...

(Problem is, from what I understand it is expensive...)

Black most certainly. May be more difficult to keep clean, but is worth it. The blue dosent look too bad either.

Nice car!!!👍

I agree that the black is a great color for Camaros, especially 3rd gens. The blue is also equally as good, but I've always wanted a teal 3rd gen. The teal just has a different look to it than any other color. Still, it's a hard decision, I like all three colors. Thanks for the compliment on the car, those formula rims that are on it right now are not staying on the car. The ZR1 style wheels that are on the blue IROC in that pic are the wheels I will eventually get.

Take teal. I've seen some tuned examples in my town.

Got any idea how expensive that GM teal would be? I've seen some teal 3rd gens with some mods and they are great. 👍

Got an example of the bermuda blue? I'd like to see it. And as far as the expensive comment, I can't have it too expensive...I've still got to replace all of my tools that were stolen as well as getting the rhino lining done to the interior among other things.

I had it black before (primer) and it looked pretty good, but black (along with white) gets dirty way too easy and would be a nightmare to keep clean. I've even thought of painting it the Subaru WR Blue Mica...but that paint is expensive. *sigh*

I'm looking forward to all of the votes these next few weeks to help me make up my mind. 👍

I'm gonna go with my favourite colour here, black. I honestly only like 3rd gens in black.

Bermuda Blue:

Unfortunately the photo doesn't do any justice to the color. You would have to see it in person to get the full effect, one that changes color from blue to green depending on the ammount of light reflecting on it. Simply put, it is a stunning color on the GM products. Its too bad that as of right now, you can only get it on their trucks...

(I think it would look great on the Corvette)

I voted in favor of black, because with good bodywork and prep, and a good paintjob, it'll look great. But, if you half-ass the bodywork and prep, don't expect too much. With black especially, the quality of the prepwork done on the car is just as (if not more) important as the paint applied to it.

I voted black, but if you really would like it teal then go for it. 👍

You can say that again! Prep work most usually sets apart the great/quality from the poor/dodgy body/paint work.

One thing I have learnt, Don't skimp or dodge on the prep work, it makes a world of difference in the end (not directly pointing at you JCE3000GT, just making points in general)

Black doesn't really do it for me in that kind of Camaro... It's too common of a colour overall over here, too, which makes most black cars even more dull.

That first blue, on the other hand, is HOT. I'd say go for that if you want to stand out a little; black you just won't.

The teal is just ugly - it looks as if the car (or me) is about to throw up...

Out of the three choices, I'd pick blue without any hesitation. My favorite color for your Camaro is red though. I also liked white, maybe as much as I liked blue.

The blue would be my choice; if you're picky about the finish and appearace, then black always looks dirty or shows swirls. You've got to get those rear window louvers if you're not tinting it; quite the 80's aftermarket touch for any Camaro or 300ZX!

Teal is a bit of a trendy color to me; every automaker had their own version of it from 1991-1994 which killed off it's originality. In my opinion, the only teal color that ever looks good was the teal used on the 2nd-gen Integra GS-Rs. That last pic doesn't appear to me as "teal" to me on my monitor, though.

I would say go for the teal, but if you choose blue, a nice bright blue that rivals WR Blue Pearl for visual pop is Dodge's Intense Blue Pearl (and it should be cheaper).

It is this color (it was on late 90s Rams, Durangos, and Dakotas).

Daytona Yellow/Tuxedo Black stripes? Glacier Blue/Ermine White stripes?

I like the Blue best, out of the choices you gave, but I think it's be cool with some retro colors. ;p

I picked blue. I am really becoming a fan of blue and I think it may be the next "it" color for the show/collector car world, much like silver is in right now.

...Well if we are going to talk blue on Camaros, you must go with the only blue that most die-hards love; Le Mans Blue...

(BTW: That is the color we are going to repaint my Dad's '68 once we strip her back down, patch the rust spots [the right way], and re-prime her)

What color is the interior? I can't really tell from the pic, however the car looks really nice.

Right now there literally isn't an interior. Observe:

I'm going to resand down the interior, rewire everything, and get the interior rhino lined. The same stuff that they spray in the back of pickup trucks. I'm going to install a roll cage, custom aluminum dash and console. There really isn't going to be a proper interior. :sly:

Agreed on the prework. Black looks like ass if not properly done.

Agreed. I'm not going to half-ass the prepping of the car. The paint in the one thing that must be done @ 110% with me, I don't feel like having to repaint the car every few years.

Black isn't as common as red or white around here. I had it black at one point and it looked ok, but it was just primer mind you. Black paint with some smoked tails/corners and those black plastic headlight covers might look sweet.

Out of the three choices, I'd pick blue without any hesitation. My favorite color for your Camaro is red though. I also liked white, maybe as much as I liked blue.

It was originally red when I bought it (OEM color) but I learned to hate red. Now I'd never get any shade of red for any car I buy. I just loathe red.

Teal is a tiny bit trendy, but I still think it looks good ont he 3rd gens. I couldn't find a better pic of the teal...you can't really tell in that pic.

I like that blue, if I decide to go with blue I'm going to have to sit down and list all of the blues that I like...which could take bloody forever.

I originally thought of doing yellow with black stripes but it just would look weird to see a yellow 3rd gen. I can tell you that my favorite yellow is dandelion yellow from...guess what...the EVO.

LeMans blue is decent, but without seeing it already on a 3rd gen I don't know if I'd like it.

Maybe I should get samples of some blues and just paint a body panel or something to see how it turns out.

Thanks for the input guys. 👍

Right now there literally isn't an interior.
In that case, I think the blue would look nice. As someone else said, black cars are everywhere, and someone else pointed out that black can show, even highlight, every little imperfection.

The differences between blue and black would be minimal there. We have had green, blue, black, and grey cars/trucks, and although common knowlege would generally make the black car the hottest, it isn't always the case. You also need to consider the interior colors as well.

I'd say that my Silver Jetta with the black cloth, and my Grandmothers former New Beetle with black leather were by-far the hottest cars to get into in the summer, as the paint certainly reflected the sunlight, the seats and dash liked to hold it in...

I quite like Sunburst Orange Metallic, but I'm not sure how it'd look on a Gen 3 Camaro...

Although Victory Red could look fantastic on a Camaro such as yours...

But out of the colours you have chosen, I like black

Although Victory Red could look fantastic on a Camaro such as yours...

"Victory Red" is neither victorious nor red; it's actually a hideous pearlescent color that pretends to be burgundy, red, or pink, and fails miserably at all three attempts. It's quite the effeminate color (in my opinion) and ridiculously trendy at the same time; yet every automaker has some version of this terrible shade of puke.

Sorry, I had to vent. This has been bothering me for some time now. In any case, it's not a color for any man's Camaro, no matter how flamboyant he is.

A red Camaro is too cliche.

The Sunburst Orange would be nice.

I also always thought Acura Sundance Gold Pearl would look great on a Camaro, it is darkish and has a heap of pearl in it.

Now that's an interesting color...but it still looks to "tan" for my tastes I think. The sunburst orange on the other hand...I never thought about orange.

So let's see some oranges guys and gals! I might add orange to my list of choices.

Gloss black seems a bit boring so i voted for blue
Are you getting your car resprayed?? if so why don't you go for a more unusual colour???
