I thought they said this about the game, "The most ambitious Tomb Raider game ever built.”
Microsoft sure seems to have deep pockets for this kind of thing, still quite an achievement though given the worst selling platform of last Tomb Raider game is now the only platform the sequel will be releasing on.

No it was a few months ago, maybe around E3. This exclusive deal will ensure its the biggest yet.

Dear Tomb Raider Community,

As you may have seen, we’ve just announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider, coming Holiday 2015, is exclusively on Xbox. We consider all of you to be the lifeblood of Tomb Raider and the work we do at Crystal. I’d like to give you some insight into this decision, and why we feel this is the very best thing for the Tomb Raider sequel we’re creating at the studio.

Tomb Raider in 2013 was a success due in large part to your continued support. Our goal has always been to deliver something truly special with Rise of the Tomb Raider. Today’s announcement with Microsoft is one step to help us put Tomb Raider on top of action adventure gaming. Our friends at Microsoft have always seen huge potential in Tomb Raider and have believed in our vision since our first unveil with them on their stage at E3 2011. We know they will get behind this game more than any support we have had from them in the past - we believe this will be a step to really forging the Tomb Raider brand as one of the biggest in gaming, with the help, belief and backing of a major partner like Microsoft.

This doesn’t mean that we’re walking away from our fans who only play on PlayStation or on PC. Those are great systems, with great partners, and amazing communities. We have Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris coming to those platforms this December, and Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition is available on PS4.

We know that there are probably many more questions and concerns. Please do send them to us, and we’ll answer to the best of our ability. Meanwhile we’re going all out to try and make something truly special - the most ambitious Tomb Raider game ever built.

Thanks,

Darrell Gallagher - Crystal Dynamics Head of Studios

Kicking off Gamescom: More social features, new ways to watch TV, and USB and DLNA support are coming soon!

We’ve been bringing tons of new features to Xbox One fans worldwide throughout the year. Thanks to our recently launched Xbox Feedback, our fans have played a huge role in shaping these updates. In fact, we’ve received thousands of posts and more than 400,000 votes to date.

Starting in the early access program later this month, new social features making it easier for gamers to connect with their friends and new ways to access their TV and entertainment throughout their homes will be coming to Xbox One. The updates include:

New “Friends” section – The new Friends section has been available for a few early access Preview members and we’re expanding it to everyone enrolled in the Preview program. The new Friends section enables users to see at a glance what’s going on with their friends. They can stay up-to-date with their current activities, the most popular games their friends are playing, and a Gamerscore leaderboard to see who has improved their Gamerscore over the last 30 days.

Snap Center – Some of gamers’ favorite features in the Xbox 360 guide, are coming to Xbox One in a way that’s now truly be side-by-side with games. Messages, friends, parties, and achievements will all be available in the new Snap Center, providing a seamless way to switch back and forth without having to leave a game.

Threaded Messages – Keeping gamers in their games while they multitask has been a huge focus. The new Messages app features threaded messages with the full conversation history – including embedded links to Game DVR clips – that can be viewed without interrupting gameplay.

Media Player – A new app will be available soon that enables users to play media files from either an attached USB device or from a network connected home media server that supports DLNA protocols. The preview version of the Media Player app will initially only support USB devices, with DLNA support coming soon. Xbox One will support more formats than Xbox 360, including support for dozens of new file formats like mpeg 2 TS, animated gifs and mkv which will be added by the end of the year. See below for additional file formKats.

Xbox One Digital TV Tuner – Announced last week, this new accessory will enter a limited preview program in Europe (UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain), in advance of its retail launch beginning in October.

Stream TV to SmartGlass – Launching first in markets receiving the Xbox Digital TV Tuner, Xbox One owners will be able to stream their TV across their home network to their smartphones and tablets using the Xbox SmartGlass app. They can also pause, play and rewind as well as change channels, without interrupting gameplay on the Xbox One. This will work for SmartGlass apps on Windows, iOS, and Android.

Boot to TV – Now Xbox One owners will be able to set their console to boot directly to television when coming out of connected standby.

Live TV mini guide – For markets where OneGuide is available, a new mini guide on the bottom of the screen will display details about the TV content that is currently playing. Users can quickly change channels and see what’s on other channels, while still watching TV.

Country Expansion – We’re doing a lot of work on the backend to prepare for Xbox One to launch in 29 new markets in the coming weeks.

As with previous updates, these may be rolling out in general availability to Xbox One owners at different stages in the coming months. We continue to be amazed by our fans’ enthusiasm for our Xbox One system updates and their fantastic input. We’re working hard to make Xbox One more social and the best place for all your games and entertainment, and we can’t wait to roll out these new features, and more, in the coming months.

Later today, my Gamescom co-host Acey Bongos, and one of the lead engineers on Xbox, Ashley Speicher, are demoing the new features. Stay tuned and we’ll post that demo a little later.

Here’s to a great Gamescom 2014. Auf wiedersehen for now.

Camaroboy69...My Receiver does'nt have a HDMI either. I used Optical from TV to Reciever. I realy dont know how it knows its there...If I remember my setup is......Cable box-HDMI-Xbox.....Then Xbox-HDMI-TV....Come to think about it I might have went from TV-Optical Audio-Reciever...It will take a little bit to figure out but once you get it right it works well....Also dont skip the little Kinect Tutorial that is on the Xbox...it helps out alot when it comes to Commands...

I finally hooked up the Kinect last night and went through the tutorial. My video commands have some major problems with the hand gestures. BUT the wall behind me is kinda shiny so I think that is part of the problem. I might even re-paint the wall behind me with a flat paint to see if that helps. The voice commands work VERY well and that's about all I care about. I actually used the voice commands a LOT last night and will use the voice commands quite a bit. At one point I was eating dinner while in the F5 menu. I was able to invite 2 different friends to the lobby without EVER touching the controller. I just used the Kinect commands. Kinect home, friends, friend 1, friend 2, invite to game and party.....Done. Worked very well. Starting to enjoy this X1 more and more every day. Also used the "Xbox record that" feature a couple times last night!! The primary reason I wanted a Kinect. :D

I had some audio issue with F5 last night but it was something with F5 for sure because everyone in the room had the same issue. I am discussing this in the F5 forum right now to find an issue. Very annoying.

I just started to take a peak at some of those audio and video settings late last night. I will experiment over the weekend and see if I can get everything to turn on with the X1. My audio is optical from X1 into Receiver. HDMI into TV. I could experiment and send the optical audio from tv into receiver. As I get more comfortable with this, I will get it closer to the way I want.

Also to tag someone make sure you put the @ in front of their name. ;)

Perfect if you want it to match your original 360 (are any really still alive?)

Are they random popping and crackling sounds? Not the one coming from the exhausts...

Few folks have raised their voices. Check out the forzamotorsport.net FM5 section.

Random and nothing to do with the exhaust. I posted more in the GTP Forza section...

I just found something VERY cool that I did not know. We all know we have the ability to say "xbox record that" and then it is saved in your file for others to view on the X1. HOWEVER, did you know if you go to xbox.com and click your friends names, you can actually view yours and your friends videos on the computer? I never knew that but LOVE that feature!!!!

I didnt know you can do that through the computer, I thought you can only do it through the console. Cool to know!

Articles like this make me nervous about my decision to buy a One over a PS4

http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/1...while-xbox-one-still-sits-at-around-5-million

What this means for the Xbox One, though, is unclear. On the one hand, ~5 million consoles sold in nine months is still objectively very good — but as far as gamers, and more importantly developers are concerned, it still makes the Xbox One the loser. Just a couple of days ago, Crytek, which developed the Xbox One exclusive Ryse, said it’s “not 100 percent happy with Xbox One sales right now,” and will wait for console sales to increase before considering a sequel. If the sales gap continues to widen and the Xbox One becomes an also-ran like the Wii U, you can certainly expect some developers to jump ship to the PS4, or at least be much more reticent about developing Xbox One exclusives. (Though, Microsoft did just announce that the Rise of the Tomb Raider sequel will be an Xbox One exclusive.)

If the gap continues to grow, expect Microsoft to continue making changes to the Xbox One to make it more desirable to gamers. A hardware upgrade for the Xbox One could be on the cards, or more price cuts and game bundling. Even then, though, it’s not like Sony won’t fight back. I think Microsoft will struggle to close the gap in the short term, and it doesn’t look good for the long term either.
We’ll have more Gamescom coverage later today; stay tuned.

I wouldn't worry about it. The PlayStation 3 got off to a slow start and it has a ton of absolutely amazing games now. While I don't really expect the Xbox One to surpass the PlayStation 4 in sales I do expect the system to have some awesome exclusives (hopefully most of them won't just be timed exclusives like Tomb Raider) but we're not even a year into the systems life, early adopters have to be patient.

I know, I was just hoping to see a bigger sales bump after the $399 price point was introduced, largely because I want to see both systems do well not just one of them.

I also am hoping for PS4 exclusives like No Man's Sky to eventually make their way over to Xbox One, but the console sales numbers have to be there for that to happen.

Announced today, PS4 is number one seller again for July and for seven straight months in the US.
Xbox One has maintained its June sales according to the report. June was the $399 month which saw sales double from May, so its not dropped but still beaten by PS4. Actual numbers will be probably leaked soon.

PS4 is 187k - last month 269k
XBO is 131k - last month was 197k

Not really continued momentum like the Microsoft guy said. They both lost 70k. Bad numbers all round.

To makes sense of it all the US PS4 is leading but its 3.6 million to XBO 3 million.
Outside US PS4 has sold 7 million to Xbox One's 2-3 million which is a pretty huge gap.
PS4 Japan is vey low sales so its PAL region going crazy for PS4. Mainland Europe sees the XBO almost non existent.

Microsoft have plenty of money to assuage developers fears, I wouldn't worry about that.

EA Access for example; £20 a year to play the 2015 versions of FIFA, NHL, Madden and NBA. At £50 a game you'd be mad to have an Xbox One and not take advantage of it.

I haven't been playing many EA sports games in the last console generation. I used to play Madden and NBA back in the PS2 days though

On a side note, I'm really loving the White Xbox One, too bad I have just about zero interest in Sunset Overdrive. I wonder if they will make it available by itself someday.

I don't think you get to play the 2015 editions do you? They would be really stupid to let you do that for that price. It about has to be the last year's editions. I think you get early access to the 2015 editions but then it goes away if you don't buy it after the release. At least that's how I've understood it but it's been kind of confusing so I may be wrong.

You're right. The games included right now are Madden 25, Fifa 14, Battlefield 4, and Peggle 2. You have 5 day early access to I believe most of their new games coming out. And discounts on buying games as well.

I've read into it, they say there's no set time for adding a new release to the vault, but it could be 30 days. A month's wait is no real hardship for such good value. As a service it will fail if they don't add the newer games, because used copies of the older games will be cheaper than the subscription price.

I think No Man's Sky is also a timed exclusive (feel free to correct me).

Does anyone understand how the EA early access of Madden works? Do you get to play early just for subscribing or do you need to subscribe and buy the game to get in early?

I've looked it up online but no one really explains it that week. Everyone just said the only way to play early is with EA subscription they don't mention if all subscribers get to try it or not. I'm really wanting to subscribe for a month juston my sins xbox to tryout Madden before I buy it for the ps4.

"PLAY FIRST
If you’re an EA Access member, you can download upcoming EA games five days before the release date to play for a limited time. Madden NFL 15, NHL 15, FIFA 15, NBA LIVE 15 and Dragon Age: Inquisition are all included, with more to come. If you love it, buy it, and you can pick up right where you left off."

It's an early access trial and your game save carries over should you decide to buy it. All members get 5 days before launch to try the game out

Is it a hour trial or something or do you get to play unlimited for 5 days ?

Is it just me or does chat volume seem to be really low on the headset's, even when its full volume? For a while I thought that maybe it was just the as loud as it goes, but after getting a gaming headset the chat feels a bit low on that as well. Or is it just the fact that I play my games to loud?

I tried scrolling through settings, but couldnt find anything to adjust it.
