a little back story on what it is http://zhome.com/History/ZXR.htm

I don't have any pictures of where she sat when i found her.
Long story short I literally TRIPPED on this car sitting in the "To be crushed" line at one of the local scrapyards

after having a mild freakout when I realized what I had landed on I managed to talk them out of the car for $260.

while cleaning the interior (windows where down everything was wet) I somehow managed to find a key under the passenger side carpet, put a battery in the car and it actually started up... on 10+yr old gas!
new rear springs and a bath later:

I daily drove the car without issue for 2 yrs and 150,xxx mi before a spun rod bearing took it off the streets...
wich only gave me the incentive i needed to start cutting the rust out and...

PLENTY of other mods planned, with the exception of the webers and rollbar nothing more than bolt ons...mostly...

and don't ask me to sell it to ya...
I sold the rest of this collection just to rebuild this diamond in the rough

Freaking awesome dude. Have the biggest respect for people who get cars and restore them and the fact you saved it from the junkyard is even better.

Also I couldn't help but laugh when you mentioned the tripping part.

Car looks so sick in the front. Can't wait when it's back on the street.

Got damn that is absolutely awesome. I can't beloieve you just stumbled upon a ZXR on a junkyard. Amazing. I also love how we go from the "rescued" picture to one drifting and in the 1/4 and doing stupid stuff instead of the car torn appart in your garage. Do you have the rear wing, or at least a rear wing?

Also, susbcribed.

thanks for the comments.

to answer the question YES, I have the wing, some SOB ripped the original out of the decklid when i ran home to get the dolly to bring it home... Nissan discontinued the wing several years ago and had 2 left on their warehouse shelves and promptly sold me one, then refunded me because they felt the car needed it.

and there are no pictures of it torn apart in the garage because... untill the rod bearing spun it never got torn apart lol.
I literally got it running, drove it a couple weeks and took it to the autoX (I'm crazy like that)
video from its first event out *yes the shocks where BLOWN*

I got waved off that run and the camera never came back to me... but I did clinch the E-stock win.

It's been to several shows with the local Z club where she gets as much or more attention than the completly restored cars in the group.

and managed to get our club featured in Sport Z magazine (now NISmO sport magazine)

she is torn apart in the garage right now... guess I should take some pics tomorrow...

and I've just noticed that photobucket no longer properly embeds videos... guess I'll start youtube...
the dragrace picture up there is actually a video... wasn't even an 8th mile... just some "street wars" at the Nashville Fairgrounds back when I was back in college... I was the only import to have beaten any american cars that night most notable was the firebird

That is pretty awesome, and you're freaking lucky for having found such a stupidly rare piece just sitting in a Nissan warehouse.

That a beautiful story of how you got the car. Huge kudos to you for saving such a fine car from the crusher. Can't wait to see more updates! 👍

been a long spring of working on everyone else' s stuff... found myself way behind on trying to get her back on the road by end of summer...
in the meantime I managed to find a couple old video clips and made some GIFs out of em...
enjoy
