Hi all! This is my first thread on :gtplanet: after being here for quite some time. I've been designing two new cockpits with sketchup since my current rig is uhh... temporary.....yeah temporary. :sly:

A few pics of my current rig:

I made that in about an hour without really planning anything out, this time however I've planned out all the details.

Here are a few renders of my rig(s), I plan to build one later today (after I get the supplies ofcourse):

The last two pictures are showing the major difference in the two rigs, and how I plan on mounting the shifter and a bit of a table to hold controllers etc.

As of right now I don't have the list of what I actually need to go out and buy but I'm actually doing that right now and will update this post when I have it.

Untill then any feedback on what you thing would be great! Thanks!

By the way, I plan on making the rig on the right side as it will be cheaper and less complicated.

List of supplies (not complete):
6: 3' x 1-1/4" PVC pipe
4: 2" x 1-1/4" PVC pipe
4: 1'6" x 1-1/4" PVC pipe
2: 2'3" x 1-1/4" PVC pipe
6: 3 way PVC joint
8: 2 way PVC joint
2: 3' x 2'7" wood board
1: 1' x 2'7" wood board
1: 1' x 5" wood board
1: 1'3" x 1'4" wood board (with 6" x 8" rectangle cut out from a corner)
and.... that's all I can see at the moment

love PVC, cheap and sturdy. And you can always tear parts down and re-adjust it.

Looks like a good design. Looking forward to seeing the finished rig!

Thanks!

Unforetunatley how I designed my rig it didn't quite work out! :ouch: One of the joints I have in the design doesn't exist!

So I've been re-desighning it and will post some pics soon of the renders.

I'll be getting the rest of the materials tomorrow and starting the build then. :dopey:

What programme do you use to make the renderings/pictures?

I used Google Sketchup 7 (the free one) to make the model (all though I didn't actually make the man, seat, or the g25), and to render screanshots I use Kerkythea, which is a FREE :sly: rendering program that is quite good.

If you're looking to get them, to get sketchup just google it (how ironic ), and for kerkythea just go to kerkythea.net :)

If you build it outside, makesure it's fits through the door lol.

 Thankfully I had thought of that! And it does fit through the (garage) door. :sly:

I was wanting to build it in the same room that it would be used it, but because of drilling holes etc. the carpet would get quite dirty. :ouch:

Thanks you

Life is ironic, ironically.

wow man thats awesome, signed up here to find something cheap and easy to build and this looks great. glad you decided to flip the pedals around so there actually hanging now, would make for a more realistic feel.

any chance you could put up a complete list of parts you used in the finished product? and how long roughly it took you to do?

seems fairly simple, and i love the fact you used pvc :)

would make it very easy to pull apart if needed.
