Race: Indy 500 - Superspeedway
Car: Minolta Toyota 88C-V Race Car '89
Mods: Stock, oil change and wash. Race soft tyres
Set up: Default settings. Gear Box 3.429 final ration (420 km/h/261m/h)
This is a story of one mans quest to hit the level 40 mark. Anyone who plays GT5 even semi serious would know that this can be a tedious task at best and yet i have managed to take a path that makes it all the more so.
Indy 500, A big oval that requires no breaking and basically no thought. It reminds me of a David Strassman gig with his southern yokel puppet talking about taking left turns.
For the purpose of grinding i use to Minolta on this track which admittedly takes all the competition out of the race as i am comfortable winning by 18 laps per run, this includes the race that i mistakenly started on a set of Sports Hard tyres, forcing me to pit within the first 2 laps.
So the times for the race can pretty much be counted on like clock work. For A-spec i am consistently getting 2.20.XXX times, with the best splits of 0.12.986 at the first marker, 0.21.363 second and best lap times of 0.38.012.
These times could be improved as you get the painful sound of the car bouncing off the rev limiter down the straights when drafting. Good thing this is a game or I would be looking as serious damage from detonation/ catastrophic engine failure by this point.
So far i have pushed through this race a total of 5 times which is getting me some good ground on the XP side of things, but honestly there could not be a more boring track to drive. I have got it to the point now where i can watch movies on the lap top while i drive the race as i no longer need to watch the screen and just know when to turn the car. I imagine this is what it would be like to watch Nascar.
It will be a good day when the PSN is back up and i can get my hands on a FGT so i can get the last of the Extreme Series finished and run the FGT for grinding. From what i have read i should be able to run quicker times and bring the grinding to an end that much sooner.
Will update this as i go, keep posting about the grind and what races/cars i am using.
👍 Cheers 👍
