First of all I want to say that I am not some hardcore racer I only play Custom Single player races and I use most of the "cheats" or "helpers" provided. I have drive line on I use TC level 2 I have the corners marked with the blue thing and the cones and I am not ashamed to say it. I have found, having driven for awhile now, that this game needs a few things. If I am saying things others have said before than I apologize as I haven't had the game very long.
.) When you create a race and choose a group level (n100, N500, Gr.3 etc) the cars you race against should be from that class, not better cars driven slower. They should also be random. I am tired of always racing the same 20 cars over and over. I want to see the cars that are classed the same as me. That is why I chose that class of race.
.) AI drivers should be faster on Professional. I race mostly on Dragontrail and I can use a Porsche 911 GT3 RS (n500) on Intermediate racing tires and race 10 N1000 cars on whatever tires they come with for 10 laps and beat them by up to 20 seconds or more. If I were to do make changes (if I had the ability to program) I would have made 50 to 100 different drivers with different stats, ie. aggression, cornering, temperament, concentration, etc. Some drivers might be the same but at least they wouldn't all drive the same. And then you could get rid of the one car that is always way back, and the two a few seconds from him and the three a couple seconds faster than those two and the two that are "fighting" for the lead (or actually second place since I am 15 to 35 seconds ahead, depending on the car and tires I use). I would then have them placed randomly in the random cars from above so that maybe a slower guy ends up in the pole and a faster guy ends up at the back like me having to fight to the front. Also the less capable driver might end up in a tricky to drive car increasing his chances of an accident, and a faster driver might end up in a slower car and show his prowess by fighting to the front. And during the race a guy with low concentration might miss a brake point and plant the wall, or a guy with low temperament might get pissed at not being able to get by another guy and nudge him putting them both out.
.) They should also follow the drive line that is given on the track instead of following a different line that forces them to ram me when Ifollow the track line given. That being said when I have the position they should avoid hitting me instead of forcing themselves on the path dictated to them. I also want to add I should be able to PIT maneuver them as easily as they seem to be able to PIT me. Why are their tires slotted into the track?
.) There should be a Super Soft Street tire. Corvettes and other super cars nowadays have a special tire that is almost as good as slicks but still has treads. I don't like the look of slicks on road cars but want the advantage in cornering they give.
.) I should be able to change the final drive of a standard transmission. I like to drive cars as stock as possible but sometimes they need more top speed and I hate the tranny whine of the custom transmission. I don't want to change the gearing just the final drive to increase top speed.
.) There should be different brakes like there are tires. I upgraded my Corvette to the max hp and spent most of my time on Dragontrail braking instead of accelerating because the brakes didn't match the power. There should be standard, carbon, ceramic, and racing brakes and the ability to change the size of the brakes like tires to make them stop better.
.) There should be a way to mount a turbo, twin-turbo or supercharger to any of my cars. I like to make other versions of the cars given and it would be nice if they got a turbo like the real life car instead of me just boosting the hp to match.
.) Bring back the braking indicator on the drive line like GT 5 and 6 had.
.) Damage should do more to my handling. I damage a tire and can still drive without any seeming penalty for the damage. Also the time to repair should be longer. I find it way too quick. 3 seconds for body damage? 6 to fix an engine? I thought this was the ultimate sim racing game?
.) There should be an idiot mode of setting up my car. I know nothing about car cambers and all that whatnot. I want to drive not diddle with numbers. There should be like a mechanic where I can click a set of buttons like: Car Understeers a Lot, Car Understeers a Little, Car Oversteers a Lot, Car Oversteers a Little, The Rear is Too Loose, The Rear is Too Tight etc. Then when I push one it makes changes in the opposite direction and then I can drive and click a different one if I need to and it changes it a bit more until I get my liking.
.) I should be able to choose what I want on my HUD. I would love to just have the MFD on and the tire wear indicator on, but have to put up with the speedometer as well. The brake indicator should be moveable as well. Some cars I can't see it for the coloring of the dashboard behind it. I would like it to be higher up under the elapsed time.
.) I should be able to turn on my headlights no matter what time of day it is. I would like to drive without most of the HUD turned on and just use the car's gauges for speed, RPM and fuel. But it is hard on most tracks as I can't see them in shadow. If I could turn on the headlights no matter the time of day they would be visible.
.) In Livery Editor there should be coordinates so I can see when a decal is exactly straight. I have no real eye for stuff like that. I should also be able to change the gloss or matting of individual decals instead of all or none. Some I want to be glossy and some I want to be matte but have to settle for every one or nothing.
.) They should bring back favorite cars so I can always find the ones I love without searching my whole garage.
.) I would like to be able to delete some of the rims and paint colors I have purchased. I just don't use them and they clutter things up.
.) Tire decals on any cars not just race cars. Smaller Michelin decal.
.) Ability to paint front rims different from back like that the Hyundai.
.) Ability to change just front tires or rear tires in a race.
.) AI cars should have random accidents. If my above ideas for the drivers can't be used at least make the AI drivers make mistakes; I'm tired of being the only driver in a 50 lap race that needs to pit because I lost concentration for a second and smoked a wall damaging my engine (the only damage that seems to matter BTW). Make them compete against each other better. Like I said the one guy here, two guys here, three guys here and so on is so 20th century gaming. This is the 21st century do more, be better.
.) Show what is being done to a car in the pits on the race position indicator. Are they fixing damage? Just getting fuel? Fuel and tires? Would be nice to know.
.) When I turn on penalties in a custom race they should actually work. For both me and the AI.
If some of this stuff is already in the game then I apologize that I am just too stupid to find it. I just think all of this would greatly increase my already great appreciation for this game, and just maybe somebody elses.
