I know we've done quizzes and whatnot in the past, but do you really know cars? I mean really? Here's some ASE practice tests; these are the tests mechanics take to become master certified and some of them are tough. Each practice test contains 20-25 questions. Good luck! Post up your scores. I did very well on many of them.

Let's start with A1 general engine diagnosis. From there you can navigate and take the ones you want. There is 8 sections total.

Not the best:rolleyes:

12/20. Not bad, considering I never did anything with engines in auto shop.

I have real ASE Certifications fyi for my job because it's a requirement. ASE tests can be worded very tricky and that requires you to pay a lot of attention to the wording. A1-A8 is basic stuff. If you really want to be good at diagnosing things try the L1 exam. Also, some of the questions on ASE tests are experimental where there is no right answer and no wrong answer. They use them to get an idea of how most people in the industry would answer. So don't sweat it if you see one of those on a real test. Those are not scored but for informational purposes only.

Oops. Went wrong on .19... I'm a trained mechanic, used to be a mechanic... Glad I still remember these these Things!

Edit; and just like Eagle said, they can be worded difficultly to catch you out and to make you think about more. If I was to have taking this test before I started my college course while 17/18, I probably would have only got between 9 and 12... So don't worry whether you got high or not. Even professionals mess up on worded questions.

Edit: The most upsetting thing is that I genuinely tried.

I'd say I didn't do terrible, considering the extent of my experience working on cars is an oil change and changing the spark plugs on the family Rogue.

We have a policy here where we'll par for the tests for our Technicians so long as they pass them. All they need to do is bring me the results and I'll pay them. It's motivation for them to pass the tests.

I could most likely pass them, some are pretty tricky though.
