Thinking about getting steering wheel for shift

i am thinking of buying a steering wheel to get more outta shift.now the first to come to mind would be the microsoft xbox360 wireless steering wheel.i've seen others here talking about logitech brand wheels but dont know much about em,plus i dont play or own any other driving games.would the xbox360 wheel preform and react the same way as the other branded wheels.ie...steering ratio, force feedback,clutch/manual shifting.

I can't comment on the xbox wheel, I have a logitech driving force gt for the ps3. What I can say is having a wheel made a huge difference in the fun factor of the game for me. If you want to get the most out of your game then a wheel is a must.

If you're on the 360 there's not that much choice for wheels - this lot and the Fanatec 911RS are about it. Some people don't mind the 360 wheel, I've never thought that much of it - it's not actually wireless, it's expensive and it doesn't do that much. For Shift, there are a few things they did to get around the limitation of only having 270 degrees rotation (drift mode helpers and speed sensitive steering settings) and no shifter (shifting is designed around using a button/paddle rather than an H shifter by default), so it doesn't matter as much as it might.

There's no nice middle ground on the 360, you either go for a low end wheel or pay a few hundred bucks for the Fanatec. Kinda sucks.

I haven't ever used a 360 wheel as I have a PS3 and also use my PC for racing sims. But I do think that a wheel purchase is a good idea overall, especially if you are really into racing games.
