Hey guys, bit new here and still trawling the many sub forums

I'm thinking of trying RWD Drifting however at the moment im using a Subaru STi Hatch with the Toruqe distributor at 15/85 which some may find nooby.

So i'm thinking what do I do, shall I buy a japanese RWD like a Silvia maybe bung a lot of power in it, try different tyres and try it around Eiger (where I drift my Scooby) or is there a certain rule to follow in drifting?

Thanks
John :)

Naw just go 10/90 or 100 on the rear LSD if u can.(Forgot) forget these noobs who say u can't drift a 4wd because u can. In D1 a Drifter named Kumakubo used to drift a Impreza for Team orange. They just took off the Front Diff making the car RWD.He also owns Ebisu race track btw.

So its not AWD then haha.

Dude, taking off the front diff makes it RWD which is impossible in GT5 (pokes Yamauchi for an update ;) )

Anyway, id suggest you indeed try a RWD vehicle because you will have more problems switching later on, when you get the hang of AWD drifting. Silvia's, some BMW's... just go and have fun. :D

Also start with around 300bhp in a rwd "Bunging a load of power in a rwd" wont work , in 4wd yes as it easy to control but if your learning in rwd start off with a lower power ;)

I have yet to find a BMW that is good for a beginner... the M3 is a bit wild and is slow changing gears but once you are familiar with the car then it's good.

The 1-Series suffers from what one might call MX-5 Syndrome where it has a short wheel base making it quite snappy and hard to hold long drifts without constantly switching. With the right setup the 135i gets some mental angles though!

My reccomendation as I said before is an S13 with around 350bhp or an S15 with 400. Even the RX-7 efini is a good starting car.

Just took out my pre tuned 1.35i Concept, on comfort hards round Tsbuska (not sure on spelling) and got a score of 13141 on a full lap drift :)

Update on my situation, got a S13, S15, 1.35i Concept, Subaru Hatch (noob I know) and an R32 all setup for drifting. After reading on the forums about suspension, tyres and LSD's i've finally got a setup that works, thanks to all who suggested cars, my next expansion is the RX7 probably :)

See you online maybe !

quick note... IMO the BMW Concept is not as good as the normal 135i Coupe as you cant add the aerodynamics which beleive it or not do make a big difference.

Concept looks better though with its deep bumper and racing stripes :)

I found that my Tii concept was as easy to drift as S13 when using the wheel as I was able to link a lap of Suzuka east with 10-15 mins and I'm still pretty useless drifting with the wheel :embarrassed:

I messed around with the settings then though a little more to see I if could get it to keep up with some friends in Fuji as it has problems with traction and ended up ruining it so have to start again with it.

The E46 M3 is very easy to drift with somes setting up. Mine was really nice to drift using the DS3 and could pull off backward entries on most tracks. Is a little snappy still with the wheel for me though.
