IS the laser model the V6?

I dunno, one part of me says yes its a classic fast ford and the other says "so your going to have the kit like the one in only fools and horses"

I dunno lets just leave it at that.

Oh no I wouldn't have the kit, that would spoil it(I only posted that pic to let you know what it would look like).

The Lazer is the 1.6 model (cheap as classic insurance is, I wouldn't be able to afford the 2.0 or 2.8)

I thought the kit in the pic you showed looked quite good.

1.6 after a little thought I realised this as well. I think yeah well if its a good way for you to try out some RWD action (well a bit subdued but still RWD) heck go for it. But just dont get a high mileage one (can you actually get a low mileage capri?) those things arent too reliable.

Well that sort of kit would be what I would buy if I wanted it, but I'd wait for my premiums to go down first. :)

Whoa! Let me get this straight...you live in Europe, the land of cool cars and you want an old Ford?? What about the Renaults, Puogeots, the Opels....the grass IS greener on the other side

Euro built fords are better than America/australlia built fords.

We get the cossies and the RS models. Also where is the Ford WRC car built? certainly not in america. Also we dont get opels, we get vauxhalls, which mostly suck.

There is a major difference between the 70's Capri's in the US and Europe: the cars in Europe were pretty good (especially the V8 version). I remember the American Capri having a real problem with braking. Coming to a red light on a hot day, the torque steer would be so bad the steering wheel would literally wrench itself from your hands. A good chassis, though. I imagine with a few thousands of under-the-skin (read: get a whole new brake system) work it could be a great car.

Ooh. Go ahead, but be prepared for a rotten interior with not much in the way of visibility, especially in the rear three quarters. Also, the steering is monstrously heavy, especially with those pepper-pot alloys, which were wider than the original steelies.

It's a heavy car, and not particularly rapid, which obviously pays dividends in cheap insurance! I wouldn't have one, but don't let that put you off. Just make sure you get a really thorough PPI.

It probably would make it to birmingham, but I dont want the damn thing breaking on me. Its good enough for city driving and A roads, but its too damn noisy.
