This is probably a question for the more techy guys out there. If PD will presumably be selling car packs after GT5 is released what are the chances that a third party could use PDs codes and model their own cars for sale? Is it possable? legal?

I know from past experiences that PD consentrates maybe a bit too heavily on Japanese cars. So maybe that will leave a market for someone to develop and sell more europian aussie and american rides.

thoughts?

Impossible. For one, Sony will not allow another developer to alter GT. That leaves only fan-mods, which are impossible without a PS3 dev kit and the core game code. Only the original developer can mod a console game.

That would be nice feature. Need for speed series on the PC had something like this, but as meticulous as PD is in developing GT, I doubt they would allow this without going through rigorous testing to approve the cars. Maybe someday, if they can allow others to help and then force a quality testing team to review and over see the design before allow it to be released. This would be benefitual to all, in speed of development, and quicker release of new cars. Imagine wacky cars on the track that don't reflect real life manufacturer cars....this would damage the quality of the game where developers outside of PD could have freedom to make a ride perform and behave in a way that would embarrass the integrity of the game being a driving simulator.

If the playstation store system was broken, and someone took the time to reverse-engineer a downloaded file, it could be done, but would require tremendous effort with little reward (and I'm clueless on how to reverse engineer -- I don't even know how to program x86 assembly code).
