Thought GTS sounded crap

There's a lot of straight-cut gear noise in this car. Is that the perceived problem? It could also certainly use more low-end punch. Other than that...?

And let's be honest low-end gets cut out quite a bit in YouTube compression, in reality, my tactile rig can attest to PC2 having enough low frequencies.

The only thing that sounds off is that sound being made when a gear change is initiated. Whatever it is, the real car sounds pretty quiet when it shifts.

I don't need to say anything as the video speaks for itself. It sounds absolutely nothing like a 720S. I've heard louder electric cars.

The posted ACC video is more like it. Mental how people accept any old crap that's thrown at them by developers. Enjoy.

Wow the OP has such constructive Criticism and gives such clear feedback... not.

Sounds pretty good tbh. This thread belongs in the junk bin.

I honestly feel embarrassed for you. You have my sympathies that you actually think that sounds anything like a 720S or that you think that sounds good for any car in any game whatsoever.

FYI that is not what a race spec twin turbo V8 engine and race exhaust sounds like.

Even when you factor in YouTube compression, the game still sounds good. :odd:

This thread is trash.

@JayRS200 -- I'm not mega worried about it because volume sliders are a thing. Some of my most-loved games of all time required adjustments get the audio to my liking.

Details and the samples themselves are what I pay attention to at this stage. PCARS2 objectively had fewer details and some worse samples than what we've heard of PCARS3.

I don't want your respect and I never asked for it. If you think it sounds good even when there's another video of a different game where it does sound good posted from the same platform, then that's your inaccurate opinion and you have to deal with that. You also have the 650S in GTS and real life to compare it to, so again that's your problem not mine.

And that goes to anyone with working ears.

The video is compressed through YouTube. And it may not be accurate, but it doesn’t sound as bad as you’re making it out to be.

I don’t know who those “people” are but I’m certainly not one of them. I absolutely hate some of the changes made in PC3, like taking out the fuel / tyre usage, getting rid of pit stops etc. In fact I won’t be buying the game until it goes way down in price, so if that was aimed at me you’re wrong.

I’d respect this post more if you had any constructive criticism, decent feedback which could be taken in instead of making a daft thread like this.

Ok that's good to know that there could be a volume slider to make it better. I'll definitely wait a while before deciding to buy this and check out some more videos after release.

Wow aren't you rude? Thought I would delete what I said because I thought I would reword it a bit because I thought I went a little in on you. But now you can shuv it.

The sound isn’t really much of a worry in the game right now. Like I said it doesn’t sound as bad as you’re making it out to be, it just doesn’t sound accurate it just sounds a bit strange like Eran mentioned - but wow why don’t you apply for the job then fix it yourself if you’re such a professional. The guys above give constructive criticism, so why can’t you? The one with the problem here is you, and your attitude. Put your dummy back in and stop crying tough guy. Don’t try to antagonize me either because it’s not gonna work.

Watched an onboard video. The mix seems off in both games. ACC much too loud engine, PC3 much too quiet engine. Both seem to have the gearshifts too loud as they are surprisingly quiet(ACC is closer though). Of course that's still just based on a recording.

But why though. The difference I hear is related to the mix of the sounds as has been mentioned.

Yeah we can tell that.

Peoples opinion on something cannot be inaccurate as its their opinion. Just because you don't agree with it or have different opinion, doesn't make it automatically wrong.

Are the sounds in PC3 perfect?

We don't know is the honest answer to that as you are judging it based on footage from the Beta version of the title!, I do however find it rather ironic that someone (based on your posting history) who is so heavily invested in the GT series should pick this particular rock to throw. Let be honest the GT series has taken seven full releases (and a number of side releases) to get even close to accurate vehicle sounds and still has the characteristic 'boonk' sound for vehicle contact, The saying about people, rocks and glasshouses springs to mind.

You seem to prioritise audio above any other factor, which is perfectly acceptable, but for others, it's not as important a factor (that should not be read as 'not important'), hell one of my favourite titles this generation, Seb Loeb Rally Evo, has what can only be described as the worst audio design of a racing title this gen, however, I personally am more than happy top give it a pass because of the accuracy of the physics and stage design.

However, if I am honest, you seem to be raising this point more to start an argument than to discuss an issue with a title, certainly, the manner in which you have responded to people would indicate that's the case. If you really do wish to discuss this, I would suggest doing so in a manner that respects the other members of the site, rather than one designed to simply antagonise and get a rise out of people (which you will see is failing).

The sounds from some cars seem to be wildly varying from the gameplay videos seen since early first footage. The Corvette C7 road car sounds like it had a downgrade, the C8.R sounds weird, the new 935 sounds overblown, yet the IR-18 Indycar and Vantage GTE to an extent sound decent.

There just doesn't seem to be any consistency.

Have you ever heard what straight cut gears sound like from inside a GT3 car or any race car for that matter???

The sound in the video is pretty good imo.

That is funny to talk about sound in those games. The fact they all sound different doesn't help me to decide which is accurate. Hope in PC3 they at least have the same volume in general, because difference between it in PC2 is laughable, some cars you can barely hear in detail with given limit, and others just blow up speakers with every little detail. Still ACC might not as accurate, but most adorable.

I guess good sound designer costs like Spa nowadays.
