I've never really changed the LSD settings in the earlier GT-games so there're some things I would like to know about LSD in GT5. I have read about the different aspects of it but would like some advice nevertheless. In this case the LSD of the Toyota Minolta.
For me the car was pretty difficult to drive. During cornering it was difficult to keep from drifting out of control with the dual shock 3 controller, even with lots of TC. I tried with more camber for better grip when cornering and more rigit springs and so on, without a lot of succes.
Turning down LSD for accelerating worked a lot better though. As I understand it the inner tires have less contact with the road during cornering, so with less acc-LSD the inner rear tire has more freedom to turn faster, so the outer rear tire is less capable of forcing the car into a drift, right?
I tried reducing the acc-LSD to 10. If there's too little LSD the downside is loss in traction but there seems to be no smoke coming from the inner rear tire when accelerating during cornerering, which is a good thing right? I've tried low acc-LSD with standard FR road cars and their inner rear tires tend to smoke when driving through corners. I guess cars with higher center of gravity have a higher LSD-threshold for grip loss than cars like the Minolta.
With TC on 3 I can corner smooth with almost no drifting when entering a 180 corner at 120 km/h. The car feels very stable and responsive and I could probably even loose some TC.
Maybe I'm not quite getting it but shouldn't less LSD combat understeer and vise versa, according to the guides and the in game guide points?
From the forums guide:
Accel. Settings
Locking (higher value): Limits the cars ability to turn, particularly in tight
corners.
Opening (lower value): Improves the cars ability to turn, particularly in
tight corners.
At least for rear wheel driven cars the opposite seems to be at work, as I've described. At least in some cases. I hope someone can explain what I'm not getting and I'm sorry for my rambling :-)
If there're other advice on LSD that could be useful I'm all ears. I will of course check out different Minolta-setups for differences in laptimes :-)
Cheers!
