Thoughts on GT6 (Overall positive)

So, I seen several negative threads rise over the past few days and I felt it was time to give the community my perspective (for all the 3 people that care for what I say). I will keep it as sort as possible so that no tl;dr happens.

Gran Turismo is....weird. And special. But mostly weird. It always has been, for 15 years now. Kazunori is one of those people that wants 100 things but only manages to deliver 50 of them. The other 50 come in the next game, but for those 50 things to come, another 50 things are taken away from the new game. GT5 was a very different game from GT4. It introduced new things, some good, some not as good. GT6 came out with strong community feedback, some of the good things from GT5 were taken away and new things were introduced, some good, some not as good...see what I mean? Kaz knows what he wants to do, but he never gets it 100%. Also, PD only released one game in the 7 years that PS3 has been out, GT6 came out at the end and it's only their second game with strong online features.

GT6 improves on everything over GT5, even graphics. Those people saying that graphics are on par or lower, obviously need their eyes checked. Better sense of speed, better lighting effects etc. Even the camera is improved for God's sake. The menus are faster and more responsive, being able to change cars and tune them at any point by pressing Start is genius.

At the same time, GT6 is a step back in some things. While setting up my car, I cannot restore settings to default. I cannot set a message for entering a lobby, I cannot share cars and there are more little things (B-Spec on later update, really?). Those are the things that leave me scratching my head "How can such a thing be ommitted?"

You think GT6 is a PS3 game? It's not. I think I read somewhere by Kaz that they plan on re-releasing GT6 on PS4 and they plan on "using a lot of things that are included in GT6 for the PS4 version / game". Remember when the GT5 "GT Academy Edition" came out? I think they are going for something similar, GT6 will probably work on PS4 at some point in a "Prologue" version, it will be an upgraded PS3 version with all the features...probably.

So, what is Kaz doing? GT5 was being improved for 3 years after its release, but the PS4 didn't exist back then (which is one of the reasons why GT6 sold poorly compared to GT5). Huge new games start coming out for next gen exclusively starting 2014, and more people will start migrating to PS4 leaving the PS3 and GT6 collecting dust. Can Kaz carry on with GT6 even for a year? Hardly...however, the people complaining should remember how much different GT5 was due to updates and if they expected a full game on launch...well, this is GT. I expect same thing will happen with GT6 (will improve via updates), but I do think that GT6 is at a point where only little updates could improve the game because PD really cannot afford dragging out GT6 on PS3 for 3 years when developers will be making amazing car games for PS4 and next gen overall (DriveClub, project C.A.R.S etc.)

Lastly, for next gen I expect PD to step their game up. Standard cars? Black interiors? I expect none of that.

EDIT: People say damage is unrealistic. I agree. You like NFS Shift/Grid/Forza damage? That's cool, they ahve pretty good damage. People play GT, they crash their cars, car is destroyed and they must abandon the race. PD receives a massive amount of complaints. They inntroduce the rewind button for the first time in the series. GT ruined.....do you want that? I certainly don't. Just the thought of messing up your race due to one mistake is infinitely better than having realistic damage in my opinion.

agreed, though you can return your car to default by putting the car's suspension back to stock and back to the after market one ;)
as far as anything else goes, i think gran turismo needs to add one realistic visual damage for the next game, or not have it at all. like in grid 1, that game has the best damage out of any game i've played.

standard cars dont make me mad, what makes me mad is they coudl have made them mostly premium. miata, s2000, just make them all from premium base! add a different front body or make it left hand drive, done. same with the NSX. all it needs to be a 1997 is the 2002 nsx engine >.>
