Whenever I go and drift online I always use cars like my G Sport and FC because I have put a lot of time into tuning them right and because they have good performance making them fun and easy to drift. When I'm offline however I've been having fun buying brand new or second hand cars and taking them straight to the track. No extra wing, power, springs or LSD. All I do is buy some CH and CM tyres (I like drifting with both) and take a spin on KD or Suzuka.I know it is important to properly tune your car but I already have plenty other well tuned cars I drift. I feel that if you drift with a completely stock car you can learn to adjust to different car setups better and learn to manage weight transfer more with the softer suspension.

I want to know wether you guys do this because I know that there would be many people who immediately give their ride more power and stiffer springs right after buying it (Even I am guilty of doing that).

Yes thats actually a great way to learn your car! I then throw on certain parts like suspension and LSD but keep power stock. Its fun to mess with it.

When I was learning on my wheel I used to drive stock cars all the time because it makes me put more effort into getting the car to slide, weight transfer etc instead of the car doing all the work for you and not understanding the main points and learning what major setup adjustments make the car feel the way it does.

Apart from the fact that I can't resist to drift any car any time drifting with a bone stock car is great to learn it as ant explained.

I drift stock cars because in my eyes its a great way to get a feel for the car then I improve it by tuning it little by little till I feel happy with it :)

I always do that, it's fun and it learns you not to rely either on power or setup.
I recommend the Volvo wagon on wet tracks (just install the LSD and lock it coz it's open diff from factory).

I drive plenty of cars stock, but whenever I have any intention of attempting anything special (low lap times, any kind of drifting), I always throw on any components that allow for adjustment so that my baseline is more thorough.

The best tunes are those developed over time with a methodical, gradual buildup of performance. I have a handful of cars that I buy and immediately add some power and throw on a baseline tune and tweak it from there, but all of my best cars that I continuously come back to are those that I start drifting with in stock form.

I like to add 20hp at a time and gradually tweak suspension and downforce until I'm satisfied with the result. I also see that most real-life builds happen in the same way. Due to budget restrictions that just aren't present in GT5, real life car builders have no choice but to work in a step-by-step process.

I strongly feel that the proven method for a top quality result is starting with a stock car and building up from that point. Plus, drifting stock cars provides a fun challenge anyways :P

I wish they'd (or they'll in GT6) emulated real automatic transmissions.
I remember having fun drifting the Aristo in Enthusia, where If a car never had a manual IRL it was the same in the game (you could only switch to the 3 shift semi auto mode). Was really cool to cruise at 30mph in 3rd then kick the throttle to make the transmission downshift and initiate the drift.
It was also good to practice on have proper steering and throttle work because there was no clutch to correct errors.

What is KD?
