Throttle lag

is there a noticeable lag on pedals for gt5? im using pedals from the driving force gt, but if i just blip the hrottle in 1st gear in an frs, it doesnt move. Is that normal?

That's because the clutch is still activated and the game takes a little to put the first gear in. You won't notice it during normal driving.

i was in manual, but it was the auto clutch manual since i dont have a clutch pedal. and thanks for the answers, i might try this out in auto to see if it still happens :)

it wasnt extremely noticeable, but it happened in all cars. I thought it was normal, but then i realized that in a real car there is a much smaller delay between application and acceleration. and the real car was a prius.

Is this not just that your pedals are not Calibrated as until you fully press each pedal they are not calibrated properly, The FFB calibrates the wheel but you must calibrate the pedals though the wheel manufacturers never seem to tell anyone. If its not a calibration issue or the GT5 auto clutch (You will know if its auto clutch by the colour of your current gear number White = Clutch dis-engaged car in gear, Grey = Clutch engaged also the GT5 clutch isnt just on/off there is a bite point so this might be what your feeling/seeing), or maybe it could be a loose Pot, I use a G27 & the loosely mounted Pots can cause a blipping/spiking of the pedal function.

The only lag I get that I notice is on the brake pedal and it is literally only on the very first time I press it after firing up my PS3/GT5 for the first time.

If I don't touch the brakes before starting a race, it'll be super delayed and I'll miss my brake points because the brake hasn't calibrated itself yet. Rarely happens though because I rarely forget.

I assume the same thing happens with the gas pedal too but it only happens on the first time you press it.

is there a way to calibrate pedals? sorry dont know very much about this kind of stuff.

Would be easier if you provided video. I had/have a DFGT and it developed a problem with the potentiometers, the little electronic doodads that tranmit the motion of the pedal to the game, inside the DFGT. In my case, they were coming on even when the pedal wasn't being touched, especially the brakes. It might also be a potentiometer issue for you in reverse, meaning they don't come on accurately when pressed, maybe with a little delay or lag.

It is just the auto clutch in the game doing this.

You can actually glitch the neutral gear by repeatedly shifting up and down quickly.

Nothing new, I used to do this when I had/used a DFGT/DS3

I've done that too, Lock2Lock, I got bored one day and discovered that my X2010/X2011 (can't remember which) would accelerate slowly by itself if I did it right. I enjoyed myself way too much...

It happens to me all the time. :banghead:

I ended up taking mine apart and scraping some plastic to get them to seat right again...it worked...then I went and got a G27:sly:

sorry, i forgot to add the fact that the throttle indicator isn't lagged, its just the fact that the car will take a second to kind of start the wheels (at around 3000 rpm). Its kind of like the "launch control" ideas, (you can find these all over the internet) where you start at a certain rpm so you dont have to wait for the wheels to start.

thats really cool. ill try that :sly:
ps sorry about double post wont happen again

You calibrate the pedals by pressing them fully each time you turn the wheel on, Like how the FFB turns the wheel from left lock to right & back to centre, your just letting the game/wheel know where the end point of each pedal.
But I think what you are experiencing is just the GT5 auto clutch. You will know if its this if your gear number is grey then turns white as the power turns the wheel's. Grey = Clutch on & White = Clutch fully off.

You need to clean the potentiometers that control the accelerator
and while your in there clean the clutch and brake ones also.

Buy some electrical contact cleaner at radio shack, disassemble the
pedal base and spray it liberally into the pots to clean em up :-)

I just had 2 do mine for the second time last night
( i've had the G27 for a year and 3 months)

This isn't his/her issue. Besides, contact cleaner is only a temporary fix, especially if you had to do it twice in a year. You need to replace them! I've replaced mine once in nearly 4 years.
