Still doesn't sound like it's to great with GT7 for me, He says you always feel connected to the road with the belt drive wheel... Something very important for myself. He does prefer the t598 overall i just wonder why you dont feel connected with the T598. Is it a direct drive wheel thing?

He is defo impressed with it on PC, sounds like a great buy if your a PC gamer.

I can't take this youtuber seriously. I'd prefer to hear from someone like me who might of moved from a T300, I'm still happy with mine so no need to upgrade unless I'm going to see a significant better experience, same reason I didn't get a PS5 pro.

I upgraded from the TX. I’ve been into sim racing since 2005 and have had a lot of wheels over the yrs. I am not willing to sink thousands into my rig just yet. When I retire I have plans but for now I have a simple rig I built myself and works great. Also a big fan of plug and play since I usually don’t have all day to fiddle with things and just wanna sit and race.
The T598 has been an outstanding upgrade for me and at the right price as well. That’s my input. 😉

Of course, so over the yrs as life goes so have my commitments on what I can actually sit and dedicate time to. When I started it was with a Logitech DFGT wheel on the PC playing anything Simbin like Race 07 and rFActor. Then Iracing came along and I upgraded to a Fanatec wheel. One of their first. The GT2 RS. And a set of CS pedals. V.1
My very first introduction and what really put the hook in me was Forza Motorsport 2 with a Microsoft wheel and pedals on the Xbox 360.
EA came out with NFS Shift which was fun but as console sims used to go they were heavily arcade influenced. Then Race Pro for the console came out by Simbin and that’s what really thru me into PC sim racing.
As of late tho I have been ideally focused on GT7 and Forza Motorsport. I found that where I’m at right now in life that sitting down and running lap times to compete online is just not in the cards for me time wise if I want to be competitive on the PC sim side. So right now I just fire up my PS5 or Xbox series X and get an hour or two in here and there and have some fun.
When I retire in a few yrs that’ll change and I’ll be able to devote more time to the hobby and money.
I also have been enjoying the VR side of things with GT7. I dabbled with PS VR 1 with the previous GT but felt they weren’t quite there yet with the technology. Now with PS VR2 and GT7 they’ve definitely improved and advanced the technology to the point where I’m having a lot of fun with it. However I can’t bring myself to totally make the switch. I still go back to the old screen because I like knowing what’s going on in the world around me. Especially with a toddler running around. 😂

I was just wondering if the size was a bit of an optical illusion but, yeah, seeing that comparison is quite eye incredible. I’m surprised Thrustmaster didn’t add side-mounting points to mitigate that “issue” a little.

That's the review I've been looking for, as the only plus to moving the the T598 for me would be to still, occasionally use it for GT7. The Moza range (and a switch to pure PC for my rig) is now looking much more likely.

I still dont understand the fuss about the wheelbase height. Unless you're lying down in a F1 style position with a non-round wheel itself already touching your belly, the wheel will be the problem, not the base. And if it's so high that it blocks the screen... are people driving so that they're looking through the wheel rim instead of over it? That's the only way it can block anything, otherwise it's again the wheel itself causing the issue.
Looking at my T-GT with its small stock rim, sitting in a normal street car style position with the front of the seat about 5 cm higher than the rear, the rim easily blocks the base entirely and I'm indeed sitting pretty upright with the wheel lower than in a real car. Sliding down to a more GT style position there could be another 6 cm of base height before it would begin being visible from behind the rim. The T598 is around 2 cm taller from the wheel axis centre to the top so there wouldn't be any issue - and it goes about 3 cm lower in the mounting plane, but I already have a thick as heck wooden frame underneath the T-GT so with a metal plate they'd be even and there's plenty of room at the moment even with it mounted perhaps lower than I'd like but a DIY setup is what it is. And all this indeed with the small 28 cm rim, with a larger one the base measurements would matter even less.

This is why I went with a new Fanatec base and used pedals/wheel. The wheel is the P1 V2 base CSL wheel that I picked up for $100USD BNIB and I am shocked how nice it is. The quality of the grippy rubber is excellent and no seams, it's a lovely wheel for that price. I just felt that at such a low price point, TM was going to have to make serious quality concessions and i'd end up spending Fanatec money upgrading and left with a lower quality FF and a base that is huge and heavy vs the Fanatec.

So just GT7 and fooled around with Motofest a little yesterday which it worked quite well with. I’m gonna try and sit with EA WRC this weekend if I get the chance.
I did update the firmware to the latest and noticed an improvement with FFB.

Unfortunately they uploaded this video before the release of the new firmware V2.07 (witch fix & improves lot of these points)

The part 2 video is way more positive about the wheel, especially the FFB and the clarity of the sensations.
The main negative is the oscillation, he doesn't talk about the new inertia setting, so I'd guess he doesn't use the 2.07 firmware.
