Absolutely not.
I drove a Nismo GT-R on circuit and it really sticks to the track.
I suspect the physics and the tires to give us this very unpleasant experience with Godzilla.
This doesn't do this racing machine any favors.
Thanks for clarifying that because I was starting to think that they are crap 😂. It may just be my own skill but I seem to struggle with most of the GT-Rs in GT7 when they are in their stock form. Without a tune of some sort, I find it hard to gel with them, which sucks because I quite like them.

I'm feeling the same, I'm really struggling to nail my braking points as it feels like the handling is changing on every lap. It's very unpredictable. I might leave this one at my silver time - I know I'm losing a lot of time in the final chicane by not cutting the entry but I can't be bothered to try again when the car feels so wild.
I agree, even though I got into silver with just my first lap, the braking was very irritating for me at the start, which is why I was stuck in that silver range for a while too. After over 30 or so laps and I would only improved by less than a tenth but then I started to figure a bit of what @Gomario JSP mentioned when it comes to over pushing the car. If you can nail your braking point and slowly downshift as you go down the revs, it will keep the car stable enough to make your apex. Once I understood that, I got gold. The bigger frustration for me now comes when trying to improve on that time because I get too eager on corner exit so the car always becomes an understeery mess which gets even more annoying when I keep hearing the tires constantly squeal 🤦‍♂️ lol

I found following @Metalgear9493 's ghost to be valuable for me. We appear to have similar driving styles and I can match his moves fairly consistently compared to some other ghosts. It is just that he does everything 2.7% better than me :D

Ohh no problem, you're very welcome :)

On this TT, your skills are probably not the reason but more probably the tires (sport medium, what the f....) and also, the physics. I really don't understand how to drive it like it should be. And I'm not the only one...
Godzilla is a 4RM war machine, it doesn't "dance" like this in curves.

The car I drove the most in GT7 is the GT-R GT3 (near 25.000 kms so far). Like the RSR, it's one of the most balanced car in this category.

As others have said, real GTRs don't drive this way. I've driven them on the road and on track days (albeit not a T-Spec and not at 140 mph), and they are far more pointed and 'urgent' than this combo, which is surely down to slightly off physics and awful tyres. The GTR is one heavy car, so these bargain basement sports mediums are most likely not up to the job.

I can see it now that I'm gonna have to show this Nissan car who's boss. I'm gonna have to control it myself, it's wild taking in most of the turns, corners and hairpins. I'd like to manage a sub 1'34.5xx or 1'35.000 for now if I can. I need to get my groove back.

For those struggling with the GTR, I found that grip levels continued to improve through the first 6-8 laps... like the tires would take a v. long time to warm up. Started doing longer runs which helped me.
Not feeling much motivation for either event right now though, as I've reached my potential on both I think. Sitting at 206th in the GTR on 1:33.308, and 142nd in the Alfa on 1:14.384 so just waiting for the new event to come out. Good luck and happy lapping to those still grinding out the tenths

I gave it everything, but I think this is all she wrote.

Not a single sector in this lap was my personal best, but put it all together, it was a good lap. I may give it one last shot on the final night, because I know I can do a .1xx, actually had a .171 but I just literally licked the outside track limits on the second to last corner, so that was that...

A half a tenth pickup in the Alfa tonight after not being able to get close to my previous best yesterday. Could have gotten to the gas sooner in the carousel, as a lot of tarmac was left untouched on exit. I'm not sure if I can get into the .3's or not, but I'll probably give it one more try Wednesday.

That's funny and almost never happens
Gues i'm 118 overall now :lol::lol:

Didn't get my TT-Mojo back so i went for exploreing the latest cars and swaps etc, but that also brought me back to the GT-R.
So did so test and was kind of surprised what i noticed.
That Japanese computer cruisship has always been a discussion, a while back i talked to someone who lives around here that always drove GT-R's and now own a R35, don't know what model it was tbh.
I never forget was he said

"it's very artificial but fast as ****, but due to the electronics it's kind of weird to drive"

With that in mind i tried lapping it with the computer turned on and was curious what the ASM would do in this case.
Well.... i was still slower with it compared to without aids as my fastest lap was a .243 but........
the damn thing rotates a WHOLE lot better in the faster corners with it on, if you let off throttle on the last corner of S2 you can rotate is much easier, but i did had trouble getting it pointed to the apex of T2 with it on.

But i think for people who realy struggle to gold this one it's a option to check it out, i'm willing to say that if i put in the time again with ASM i maby even be faster in the end??, but still kind of done with it :lol:

@Dolph Drago is that you flying on the avatar??, that's epic mate! :)

ZEE
My original initial time attack with me on this skyline variant went bronze, so i redid it and got back up to SILVER!

Hey, your time at Watkins is almost close to mine, I have 1'15.823. Wow, wasn't expecting that! I'm relieved now that I know no one can beat Doodle's time, therefore this will be my 7th gold confirmed. I'm getting ready to attack the Sprint track with my Nissan machine.

@Dolph Drago Great time mate, I won't be able to catch you, but I am officially a part of the golden club!!

No, I mean I'm gonna have to be aggressive with it and play dirty. Not be nice. Watching the replays always gives me an idea of what to do in each Sector but I have to figure out the loop around of this if I want to get a decent time here. Hitting the rods at the final chicane voids the lap too, so there's a lot of factors at play here and to watch out for. Well let me get back to work today. I got my work cut out for me and I'm not joking around. I'm serious.

I reached 1:33.1xx on my second day of Nurburgring and feel that in order to lower it a tenth I will need a "thousand" of attempts which doesn't tempting me. So I thought I will go and pick track and car and do my own Time Trial. Honestly, now I understand PD a bit better, it took me really a moment to actually pick a track car combo I liked to drive around on repeat...
I wonder if we would ask 3 legends of this thread that reach top times easily... @EbrahimX7 @Metalgear9493 @djolliea if you could pick 1-2 car+tires and track (layout/reverse) to do a Time Trial, what would you pick?

Being agressive with the GT-R R35 is the very last thing you should do if you want to set a good lap time.

Just saying.

Toyota Corolla around Blue Moon Bay Speedway, with used comfort hard tires.

Good to know.

The thing that really bugs me about the whole tyre temp debate is if, as seems the case, optimal tyre temps are a factor in time trials (or other modes for that matter) the game really should be overtly telling us this through in-lap information (I understand there are 3rd party resources for this but if it's in the game it should be obvious) This issue, combined with the ludicrous 3rd sector invalid lap =invalid next lap mechanic which often induces a restart*, means potentially running many laps which are rendered pointless just to get to a stage when the tyres may be warm enough to be competitive.

* I know the reason for this is so peeps can't cut the final corners to gain an advantage but I'd like it to be nuanced enough to recognise when it's someone attempting to cheat and just someone going wide, slowing down before continuing (slowing down seems to work on some tracks but not others, on the recent Merc-Seca trial if you went red but parked it before the final corner the next lap would be clean but at Watkins in the Alfa if you go red at the 3rd to last turn or after, you can park it for 5 minutes, have a coffee, set off again and the next lap is still invalid.

That's my whinge over and yes I'm a grumpy old man :D

PS Not to open another can of worms but since the Patch that brought us the Eigerwand, oil condition seems to decline far faster now so does this have an effect too? 🤔

@chris, valuable info, no beeing angry on the cruisship, it will strand you on some deserted island, be gentil, it wil like you more :)

Yes there should be more time trials with comfort tires.
Absolutely right Ed, we seem to do rather well on slippery things.. :)

I'm still not convinced that it is though. Not saying people are imagining things, but perhaps it's just placebo? I haven't noticed any such effect myself and keep restarting frequently without it affecting my lap times. But granted, I might lack the consistency to truly tell the difference. So would be interested in any hard evidence. I know there is evidence in the telemetry data that the tyre temperature is different, but do we know that the game even considers tyre temperatures in time trials?

Yeah, this is really annoying. This current GT-R one is a great example. Whether or not you cut the last chicane and hit the bollard has absolutely zero impact on the exit speed for the start / finish straight because you have to brake into the final corner anyway. It would be easy to just move the start point for a session to after the chicane. It's things like this that make me wonder if the PD devs even play their own game.

Great points!

To be honest, I'm not convinced tyre temps in TTs a thing either, it just seems to be discussed a lot and some folks appear convinced it is a factor and without certain evidence to the contrary I didn't want to suggest I was 'in the know'

New test in Nurburgring Sprint

I don't know if we can call that an improvement but there, it is tiny... Improve my time de 1'33'980 at 1'33'955
However, my optimal time is still around 1'33'7xx. No matter how much I caress the beautiful Japanese girl in every way, when she doesn't want to... she really doesn't want to... 🤣🤣🤣
