I have gold on every single TT until now but goddamnit the Olympic one is probably gonna end my streak ):
It's crazy hard on a regular controller. Only thing I 'figured out' was turning off the haptic triggers so that I can press the brake and gas faster (maybe just placebo...)

I can't get under 1:16 at the moment... Any tips from controller users that are below 1:16? Like what's the way to go aggressive or smooth? I really don't know where I can find the last 2-3 tenths lol

Practice trailbraking, put ABS on Default, Brake Balance to 5 and downshifting early even to 1st gear helps to turn the car while still braking you can see it best at very 1st turn if you stay on 3rd you can't steer as much under braking.
(you can find my replay in collection tab if you want.... completely butchered last hairpin if I compare best last sector I lost 0.44secs but it was good enough for 1:15.826 with DualSense controller)

Sidenote: right now optimum for olympic trial would be 1:14.708 (top 10 replays best sectors) means 1:15.828 gold cut-off.....

Before the closing statistics for TT23 in the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm '20 at Red Bull Ring, an Olympic update. Under 1:16, but more to go...

TT23 turned out to be somewhat easy based on reward distribution; 1.5 x the usual got gold; it was easiest for silver; the least proportion of drivers got no reward. So, tricky to drive, but easy to get a reward.

I'm gutted I didn't get more time on it as I set a decent time in my second session, but then went to get a time at Fuji and since then (Fri/Sat) it has been all Deep Forest. Still, decent result.

Great stats as usual.
Small correction, though - the Giulia was using SH tyres, not RH.

Logged on last night a bit later than normal, so I didn't have a load of time to get stuck in, but I wanted to make sure I get the best balance of times across the three events before I head away on holiday this weekend.

So first, RBR, my time I set recently was a 1:40.067 and the gold time hasn't moved since, so that's still gold. On to the next.

The Olympic qualifier is the next to finish, and my poor lap time of 1:20.5XX was miles off the pace. Concentration face on, try get some decent laps in. 8 laps later I'd dropped down to 1:18.6XX, less than one tenth off the silver time. I know I won't be getting gold on this one, so I'll come back and see if I can improve enough to get a safe silver time and bank that 2 million. On to the Gr.3 event to at least try set a time...

Started with the Renault RS.01 GT3 as it was my most recently used Gr.3 car, having created a Tesla livery on it for the current LEC event header image . It's pig slow. At least in my hands. I put in 6 laps and couldn't get below 1:44.5XX. So I jumped into the Suzuki VGT Gr.3 for a try. I managed to improve, slightly, down to 1:44.1XX, Then had a few laps in the Huracan and got down into mid-silver level. Miles off the pace, but I'll get back onto that one once I've managed to secure a silver time at Deep Forest.

Made it into silver with 1:18.464!

It's very tricky position with small gap, because if someone break WR again, I'll be out in bronze.

Unusually for me (I'm doing retry after every lap), I did 6 laps in that stint and optimal was 1:18.012

I can't get to drive the Toyota correctly, too many snaps and laps cancelled with track limits, I think I'll settle with bronze.

I might have to miss out on gold in the olympic event... pains me to say it... but I don't have the time to get that good at it any more!

Intrigued with the new one though - I love me some sports tyres and a road car!

zjn
I looked a bit at my historical data on TTs to confirm the feeling I had.
In short now my minimum goal for TTs is comfortable silver, and I see that I am achieving it with seemingly greater speed.
I came up with this graph that weighs the achievement (the percentage against the record), its color (gold, silver, bronze) and the KMs it took me to get it. The graph confirms my feeling.

The other thing I notice more and more present is that while I used to have a slow and fairly constant improvement within the two weeks of the TT, now I arrive fairly quickly near my limit and improve little from there on. I hardly reach my theoretical ideal, sometimes I don't improve anymore, or I turn more and more steadily lowering the personal best often without marking in any section a record intermediate time.

This makes me think I have the wrong approach to TT, but I don't understand what to do to change it.

it's as if my head, once I find a good combination of braking and apex references, is devoted to repetition rather than finding areas for improvement.

Your comment on reaching your "best" quicker is something I've noticed as well. Ive been attributing it to generally understanding the physics better overall. And every lap on a track helps for the next race or time trial. For example, I was practicing for the GR cup race at Fuji in the Trueno a fair amount. Then when I jumped on to the time trial, I was able to go into a 1.4% gold time in about 25 laps.

I also find that I'll hit a plateau with my times and seemingly can't improve, but as you say if I start a session and within 7-8 laps I'm getting very close to my best, I feel the breakthrough is imminent. In hose situations I'll start to focus on being consistant. Then out of nowhere 2/10ths appear....

Brake balance 5 to the rear or front?
Thanks for the tips will try again tonight I can't let that gold streak die...

"I couldn’t get to gips with yhe combo"....you are a freaking .5 seconds faster than me who thought....yeah finally a grippy lap 🤣🤣 with my 39.6 ...

It's so funny how mixed everyone's feeling about these TT's are, I found the Alfa the most fun of the 3 and rate it high on my most fun TT list and the DF one I'm not that big of a fan off,

You went to 16.2 I noticed, great solid, Nd smooth lap! Congrats!

I did a long stint of 40 laps this morning but couldn't improve, best 16.9 I'm struggling 🤣🤣

Me and Tracklimits NO friends

 I would say a lot of it is down to pad/wheel! The Alfa/RBR combo was tough on a wheel as the car would snap so quickly it's difficult to get corrective lock on without extremely fast hands whereas the controller it's much easier to apply some oppo' with the stick. Likewise, on the Olympic/DFR combo the extra precision of the wheel plus being able to change direction much more accurately makes it a bit of a joy.

I also have the added trouble of getting annoyed by 'unrealistic' handling traits. This is mainly a problem for my OCD mind on road cars I have driven or are similar to cars I have driven. I find it extremely frustrating that the Giulia GTAm handles like the most basic of 60s muscle cars, like it has too much power and an open diff just because it has some low grip tyres! I might be just a pleb but I really don't believe that a car with such an exotic and well developed suspension/powertrain arrangement would be completely undone just by some slightly substandard rubber (they're not even Comfort tyres for gods sake!).

Jump to RCZ and in 3 laps you get gold

For me the olympic TT is brutal.
Spent another night grinding and got to a 16.121, well I did a 1.16.0 but was out of bounds for maybe an inch so that didn't count :D

We've got until sunday so I'm gunning for my life to reach the 15.900 but man this is gonna be a challenge, I'm pushing out low 16's one after the other like it's nothing but the 2 tenths I need are so far out of reach it seems.

Testing my determination for sure!!! not giving up, unless one of the aliens decide to punch another tenth off, then I'm uninstalling

This Wicked Fabrication car is a pleasure to drive. It's a shame so many of these things are underutilised throughout the game. I would happily drive this more often.

Aiming for a 1:15.x overall for this one - certainly doable, sitting on a 1:16.2 right now.
That thing is as much of a track car as the van was. Lol. (5 1/2" front wheels on a 3000lbs car!) And while not overly powerful in any way, the narrow tires should make it relatively easy to steer with the throttle to combat the understeer. Speculating until I get to actually try it. Of course the aliens will just use the destroy the engine and trans downshifting into corners like they always do to get it to rotate.
But should be a fun one, can't wait to try it as haven't driven the car or track before.

Maintained gold time for the RBR event, but to @half_sourly ‘s data, I only just dipped into the top 8000 with my 1:39.9. I did run another 30 mins last night as I was at 2.6% and feeling a little exposed, but found every penalty and barrier on the track and couldn’t get under a 1:40.3 so called it a night and went back to Spa for a couple of races. Pleased to hold onto gold for the Cr.2M though.

The new TT is interesting. Not a fan of the car, and I haven’t driven Grand Valley in this config - lots of learning. Still at 2.16% for a solid gold at Fuji so that should hold, as will my silver at Deep Forest in the Olympic event.

1'17'520 with oprimal time at 1'17'421
