I'm usually not the type to test various cars, but to cure my boredom, I decided to take on the task of doing so. Nordschleife being the main motivation.

First, I tried the R8. Got a time of 8:15.134 with it. The R8 is quite understeery, which is understandable considering it's MR.

Next up, the GT-R '18. Sooo much better to drive, with much more turn in. The main weakness was the ridiculous wheelspin it has. Time was a 8:13.202.

And to conclude the session for today, M6. Hooo boy, that car was so comfortable to drive. I initially thought that of the GT-R, but M6 is a step better still. I got an easily improvable time of 8:12.888.

Not sure which car to try next after I polish the M6 time!

I assume you mean the meta. No, I will save that for the very last.
Don't know if it is the meta, but curious to compare your times with those cars, and I've seen people praising that one in particular.

I did it with the M6 (which I used to use on the CE and training on TT mode on the Nordschleife) and with the Huracan (which I
enjoyed at Fuji) as I don't have many modern Gr.3 in my garage. The result with the Huracan was not better than with the M6 but I am the weakest link in the equation so I won't assume it is a less efficient car for that track compared to the M6.

Could you try the Supra and the Huracan ? 👍
The Huracan is very nice to drive! Very planted, but a bit understeery. Just avoid the curbs on the turns. That being said, my best lap with it (after a whopping three laps) was .500" off my Ford GT LM II and ~3.75" off my Supra. But I have way more laps in the Supra.

Oh yeah, with Huracan I needed to be easy on Fuji kerbs. I can just imagine it over the mountainous kerbs of the Schleife...

Ok the Nurb 24 TT is extremely tough to gold, although I am not surprised. After just 30 min or so of practice managed to string together a 8.20.5 in the Supra. Honestly felt like I got a very decent lap done and I wasn't afraid to push it so found a few more seconds to my 2nd best lap. Maybe high 2.18's doable, but I may just call it quits for this TT. Gold time will still likely drop, so I doubt I can get it. 🤔

Hmmm ...out of curiosity, I did 2 laps in a Corvette and got a personal best :D

It is actually not a bad car arround this track. Have to watch the throttle a bit otherwise very neutral.

I might stick to this car and try to get gold with it....you know...just for fun 😜

I set a very safe bronze on the Nurburgring in my first lap (6.2%). Now comes the decision - is it worth grinding? Silver might be worth the push, going for gold is pointless for most
Silver shouldn't be difficult. Basically if you have the track memorized and can go around the track with more or less the right line/brake more or less at the right place/power out not too late and of cause not crash. As long as you don't over drive the car, you should be able to get silver without problem.

You have to keep practicing. 30 mins is like three laps. Once the Nord clicks, you'll never look at it the same way again.

Quite happy with my 8:19.952 in 911 which is around top 3000 in the world for now. However it is still a long way to go for gold, not sure if I can find 2 more seconds somewhere. Not mentioning likely event of the top time improving. Tried Supra, but I hate how snappy it is, too used to how planted the 911 is I guess. Huracan seems promising though, feels like a bit faster and a bit more snappy version of the 911.

Now in the 8:12 region with my Supra and I decided to test Porsche, Ferrari, Renault and McLaren. All of them have potential, Porsche being the most promising but if I'm going to squeeze more out of the corners the Supra is still my choice. The cars have insane camber: 3.5 front and rear which was quite interesting to see.

Retry freeze since last update is getting more and more annoying. Is this a PS4 thing or are PS5 users experiencing this as well?
Could you please describe what you are seeing? I'm on Ps4 and the only thing I notice is the half a day needed to launch the game, which appears to increase a tiny bit after each update

First day at the Ring.
Supra went first, after a couple of laps decided I didn't like it. Feels slow or unstable, but that's perhaps due to my substandard driving. Low 40s with that.

Browsing through allowed car pool I noticed the BRZ, which brings fond memories of a hard fought Lake Maggiore win (or barely golded Catalunya TT). No second thoughts and I'm in the Subaru.
This car has the grip, compared to Supra it's, well, superior.
Sometimes likes to twitch if the gas opens too early in the corner, but it is manageable.
Went quickly into mid-to-low 30s, finishing the day into 20s quite close to silver.

Silver is obviously doable.
I'll be trying some other cars as well to check if they're steering friendly with my ds4 (bad) habits.

On a side note, the last time I time trialled Nurburgring 24h I was looking well under 8 minutes, but that was GT6 (one of the last seasonal events) and ofcourse a different car. Long time ago in another era.

When I press options button to bring out the menu to "continue/retry/etc." the menu doesn't pop up and the game freezes. The only way is the PS button, close application and reload the game.

No, never happened to me

During time trial runs, hitting pause and choosing “Retry“ randomly causes my game to freeze. This hasn't happened before and started with last month's content update. While not occuring very often, it happened again right after my first attempt tonight. I've read posts with similar issues so I was curious if this is widespread or only a few individual cases.

This Nurburgring trial is as intriguing as it is infuriating. I love that there isn't really a clear meta so you just drive whatever car suits you best, but putting together such a long lap is painful. My best is a 8:17.863 which is good enough for 2.97%, but I had a big moment on the final corner and lost at least half a second, maybe more. I drove the Mclaren but after spending a painful amount of time trying to recreate my run around the GP section I've decided to try other cars, now I'm finding luck in the Renault RS01 which is definitely not the usual meta. But it just seems to suit my driving style a bit better, the understeer in the Mclaren was really aggravating and the Renault seems a bit more neutral for me.

I can beat my PB if I can just keep up till the final turn, but judging the gap is hard because the game doesn't show a time difference to my ghost, only the visual comparison which is hard to gauge because obviously it's dependent on the speed you're going at the time. It's almost a psychological battle at this point as I struggle to keep up in the GP section so by the time I'm at the Nordschleife I'm already feeling like I'm losing. Then I gain massively in the first sector of the Nordschleife and am ahead but then the pressure is on to stay ahead and I screw up due to the pressure, it's hell... Yeah, I know.

Another run in the 911, reaching diminishing returns now… 65 miles driven and only one clean lap, but found 3 seconds and into silver by 1 second with an 8:26.6. This lap also puts me in third on my friends list (ignore the fact that there’s only 6 people in it lol)

Don’t expect this time to hold for silver and there’s definitely room for improvement in a number of places. Target an 8:22 as that would put me 2 seconds clear of the silver cut off with the inevitable 8:00 WR that I’m expecting on this TT.

A much cleaner lap this time around, with a pickup of a touch under 2 seconds from yesterday. There's still more to gain. The question is how in the world can the aliens be a full 10-12 seconds faster?? I know it's a long lap, but that's absolutely insane. I feel like I'm already pushing the limits. Where does a simple earthling like me find that kind of time?

I've done hundreds of laps here and I tend to find my best lap fairly quick around here. I won't find 5 seconds or so, even if I practiced 10 hours or more. I have a good estimate of my pace, so I can already tell there's barely 2 seconds I can gain. But anyways I'll wait a week or so, where the gold time settles, before I maybe go again.

My effort around 24h. I figured it's a worthy upload considering the ghost didn't upload, and it's a top 10 global non Supra lap🤣

See? Absolutely insane. I'm amazed at how smooth you are exiting the corners. I'm either waiting for the back end to stabilize or am in the process of correcting a slide. And yet, you can also easily get the car sideways whenever you want to. My mind was blown watching your line through the chicane of the GP circuit.
