EDIT: And by the way, there are still 3 E-rated drivers with gold in all 25 TTs to date.
One of them is a retired alien, TRL_Erazer back in the day, now just E.Johansson.
I think he runs those time trials for the fun of it. And he's definitely not as he describes in his "about me" section...

He was quite active here on the forums in the days of GT6 when he shared his fantastic tunes for the seasonals.
He peeks around here still from time to time @ERAZER

Once you get into it, this Wicked Fabrication ride feels kinda nice. Grand Track Limits Valley takes its toll on you though. Now onto the beauty that is Nordschleife.

I'd like to point out a couple of tips for those who use manual transmission at Nurburgring (or any other track, but especially at the Ring because the track is so long and small things can make a big difference to your lap time).

1. Choose the best gear for corner exits. Never exit in the 1st gear or you will lose time. The best gear for exiting tight corners is either the 2nd or the 3rd depending on the car (and your speed). For example in the McLaren the best gear is the 2nd but in the M6 with more torque and shorter 2nd gear it's often the 3rd.

2. Focus on your shifting points. Now, this is not as simple as you might think. You always want to shift at the right time which is NOT always at the redline. Revving too high or vice versa depending on the car can make a big difference. At Nordschleife we're talking seconds.

So how do you know the optimal shifting points for each car? Go to Car Settings and click ECU and you'll see the car's engine power curve.

Here's the McLarens power curve (BoP):

Optimally you want to shift as close to peak hp as possible to land as close to peak torque as possible in the next gear. So in order to get the most out of the McLaren you need to rev it almost to the limiter (which is at 7800 rpm). The optimal shifting point is around 7600-7700 rpm.

Cars like the Supra however require shifting much earlier or you'll lose power. Here's the Supra's power curve (BoP):

The optimal shifting point is around 7300-7400 rpm while the limiter is at 8000. Revving almost to the limiter (like you should in the McLaren) would have a negative effect to your lap time.

Solidly in SILVER!! Wooooo it came down to the wire too! Previous PB was 8:28.960 and up until last lap 8:29.319 was FL of the morning. Man, stringing together a full lap without a penalty or pretending to be a helicopter is tough lol. And I forced myself to not restart so I could track my delta’s and this track suckkkkks when you screw up 2-3 mins into the lap!

Managed to shave 3.386-seconds off PB! New PB 8:25.574!!!

Nice progression!, i hope i have some time during the weekend again to try lower my time with the RSR
I added a few liveries to my collection so that should make the difference

Keep pushing, we will succeed
Thanks, that's nice. Indeed from the beginning I gained a few seconds but errors are still there. It's hard to stay focused and consistent on this track !!!!!🥵🥵🥵🥵

Slightly unrelated, things that are maybe even tougher than getting gold in Nords 24 TT. Trying to watch the game intro without getting goosebumps. Friggin intro movie with the Moon over the castle playing with cars racing, as someone who likes cars, metal & rock music 😁. Just not possible. 🫣🤤🤩

My effort around 24h. I figured it's a worthy upload considering the ghost didn't upload, and it's a top 10 global non Supra lap🤣

HOLY CRAP! How in the world do you have so much control over that car at those speeds!! Good God almighty I felt like I was holding on to my seat watching that lol.

I guess the secret is pretty simple - brake at exactly the right spot, applying just the right amount of the brake, with car situated in the right spot, turning in at the right time, accelerating at the right time, with the correct amount of throttle and steering input and viola, magically shave 20-seconds off my lap.

BRB going to set the world record now!

OK, I'm a little disgusted. The accelerator of my G29 crankset no longer responds !!!! The pedal fully pressed, I'm no longer fully on the slider. I recalibrated but it's the same !!!! I don't quite know what to do.
Take off the plastic cover and clean the potentiometers with a generous amount of electronics cleaning spray (or something similiar). They get dust and grime in them. Hopefully this will solve the problem. Good luck!

1 timid lap of the ring with the Huracan, no big mistake but so slow... 9min01

tried to do another lap, but touched a barrier in the turn before the karussel, no point pursuing with 1.5s penalty plus the spot where it is applied

no more will to play more

Someone here suggested trying the Genesis X at Nurburgring so I decided to test it myself. Instantly improved my previous best by over a second. Never knew it was that good.

New PB: 8:10.862

Here's the lap:

How would you say it handled? Anything we should know? I’m tempted to try anything before getting committed to one car and would be nice to get a new car and get used to it.

I managed to get online today and take the Huracan around the Ring, I loved that car at Fuji so was excited to get stuck in at my favourite place in the world… No. I’m just not talented enough to get the best out of it even though it feels properly quick every time it gets a bit out of shape I lose loads of time as I have no confidence handling this car on/over the limit. BACK TO THE RSR!

Managed to do two laps and set a decent marker, not sure what it was but I think it was a way off Gold still, that’s the goal. The RSR is fantastic for this challenge imo, it’s a bit understeery on corner entry which takes a while to get used to but the corner exit traction is immense and I feel confident getting on the power early. I’d love to get a sub 8:10 time here but I don’t know how much time I’m going to have to commit to it.

Had a little go at GV today and managed to improve; it’s a shame because I think it’s a great trial that I’ve had almost no time, I haven’t even done 100 miles so my least attempted TT for a long time! 1:16.616 in a great session and if I get a chance tomorrow I’ll try to get into the low 1:16s. Fun trial I love them both!!

Back to the Ring for some more TTing. Jumped back in the Lambo as the car is really fun to drive around this track. It's super stable and very forgiving with throttle inputs... just stay off the taller curbs.

On the 2 account my Ford GT LM time was sitting at 8:16.9, a tick more than a second within gold. A couple of laps in the Lambo to hit a 16.5. Still almost three seconds off my Supra time. Ah well... the Lambo is way more prittier so it's got that going for it.

The Genesis X feels a bit heavy and understeery at first but has lot's of torque in the lower RPMs so it accelerates surprisingly well even in the higher gears. The back end tends to get loose too if you're not careful with the throttle and I did spin a couple of times. I was always catching the Supra ghost when accelerating out of a corner but the Supra has a better top speed. Feels like a great all-rounder once you get the hang of it.

Here's the lap:

That would be me and after watching your lap i got all inspired, you were 7.6 seconds faster than my PB.
And i must of picked up on something, ran a 8:17.330 and kept going for another lap, new PB is now 8:17.108 , a nice .882 gold cushion, but the number that surprised me was my opt. 8:14.8xx

Switched to the GR Supra last night to score an 8:14.9 after just 3 laps, however the optimum showed an 8:14.4 which is slower than the optimum I received using the R8. I'm sure there is more time in the Supra as I have done more laps with the R8, and it definitely seems like the Supra is easier to get lap time out of, so its just a matter of putting more laps in and finding where I can make up the time.

The goal will be to try and stay within the top 1,000. When I set the lap I was 992 so I've no doubt fallen outside the top 1,000 again. Only a few tenths improvement would put me back within the top 900 so I think this will be achievable.
