Some improvements today, added frustrations with the amount of times the final hairpin ruined great laps until then. Find it difficult to judge the braking and line consistently, such a narrow window.

Here is an updated GTP leaderboard for the Red Bull Ring event, with data and new people added per last few posts and some PMs I got. I've also updated it in the results post on the previous page.

Awesome to see the rankings like that! If it's any help, I'm one of the DS4 gang.

Despite tens of laps, I'm unable to improve my silver score at Lake Maggiore for now.
I've tested different cars (still not happy with the RSR in this particular combo) and the Mazda and the AMG are my "more comfortable cars" for now. I'm not enough fast with the Supra and the Genesis.
I need to practise more, to watch @Tidgney video and maybe I would be able to gold this not-so-easy TT.
#KeepPushing

I hate the feel of the Supra but I got my fastest lap in it, on my out lap no less 🙄.

The thing hammers out of corners but you can't use ANY steering input with throttle while turning slow. At least I can't with the X button as my throttle. I need to put a solid straight hour or two in. I think I can get gold if I can string it together.

Finally and after a new session on Lake Maggiore TT, some improvement with a new PB at 0:52.371 with the RX-Vision Concept.
Honestly, I wonder how and where I can gain 0.3 / 0.4 second to secure a new yellow medal but I will!

Strangely, the AMG '20 and the RX-Vision are the 2 only cars with I can lap under 0:53 more than 2 laps in a row. To the guys with the Toyota and the Porsche, you have my eternel respect!

In short: still in silver, not yet optimal in gold, good vibes and a right hand painful :)

Happy Bastille Day to everyone 🎆

I think we neede to get down to high 51, with my 0:52,194, I'm at + 2.94, so I don't think it will be enough, I used the Lexus RC F '17. going to try the RX next, I have already tried the Merc, M6, BRZ, F-Type, GR Supra, Genesis, DBR9 and the GT-R Nismo with no luck... 😂

Edit.

Nah, the RX didn't do the trick for me at least, best time with it was 0:53,060 😥 and gold is now down to 0:52,210...

An addictive challenge, done around 130 miles before and after work. Tried around a dozen cars, inching towards the gold, first the Mazda, then the surprising Lexus, now in the Genesis. A tenth off the current target but likely need a lot more than that.

Can’t find the speed that everyone else does in the Supra and 911.

The "YouTubers" say this TT is so easy! Perhaps for them. Frustratingly I've been stuck at around 3.4% for much of the day. I would inch it down and then the time would move and I would have to inch it down again. The 52.4s mark has been a bit of an albatros for the cars I tried: R.S.01, Supra and 911RSR.

Finally switching to the RSR I was getting close to that 3% time but I would lose time in the hairpin and the tight right-hander before that. Up to that point I am usually within a few tenths of the alien's ghost. Finally I gave up and switched TCS to 1 so I would stop spinning out though too much power or be too slow though being too careful with power.

Bam! Broke the 3% mark with a 51.938! Hopefully this holds but I have a suspicion I will need to be back..

I alway found the Supra to be undrivable but since I got my GT DD Pro, today I actually found it drivable for the first time ever. Not sure if it is the force feedback mechanics, the smoothness of the wheel or the sensitivity and controllability of the pedals but being able to drive the Supra with no aids and ABS set to weak was a revalation!

I know all the top times here are Supras but the 911RSR with TCS1 absolutely hammers this track as well for those with lesser skill (i.e. me).

You gotta join the community rankings (or not lol just gonna push us mere mortals down the list) as there is only one other Kangaroo-fighter currently
LOL. What community rankings is this? I have never seen it.

Fantastic work @half_sourly !
I would like to be added to the GTP leaderboard if its no bother. This is my page link:

Tried the Supra...I can get a very good (for me) first sector with a 17.2 flat, I can't for the life of me get it around the banked right...part of the problem is I drive with PSVR and because the driving position is so far back, I can't see the exit of that corner (blocked by the roof line). I ended up always misjudge my exit....either going way to wide or accelerate too slow. I think I will try to find some other car with the view.

Pick the one that felt best and stick with it. It’s such a short track that you’ll need to find the best brake/turn in points for that car. I’d still try to use one of the meta cars as they’re meta for a reason even if difficult to drive. Repetition will do a lot here.

And it’s never too early to try TC0, especially with Gr3 and especially on such a short track where if you spin out (you will) it’s not agonizing like binning the last turn on the Nord

Ok, my brain is on fire 🧠🔥
BBRacewayTT-almost2.jpg

After a series of 32.7 I broke and switched to MT and it finally worked, but damn it's only one upshift and one downshift per lap, literally two gears only and I feel like total multitasking overflow

Brain Explosion Wow GIF by mujkaktus

Positive thing is I didn't break any bones in my hands 👍, at least I think so after the adrenaline rush.

My utmost respect to people driving MT on controller - it's super hard.
I really, really don't want to come back to this, not even close to easy this one.
So don't get funny ideas "people", Jeddah is King!

Either I've forgotten how to drive since Brands Hatch or everyone has turned into aliens (I prefer to think the latter 👽). I ran what felt like a pretty respectable lap in the new TT with the Supra, only to find myself all the way down in 14th on my friends leaderboard with a 51.771. I'm thinking maybe a low-mid 51 is doable. I watched Jeddah's replay and saw areas where I could possibly pick up time.

But first, the Posche at LeMans will be my focus tomorrow and Sunday until it ends, followed by one - maybe two - days in the horrid BBR TT to see if I can pick up any time.

Had time for another 10 laps before I had to start supper. It didn’t start well and I was very close to quitting by lap 5 but kept at it. Patience MAY have paid off as lap 9 came out of nowhere. As long as 1 Fin is ahead of me and I don’t call them out they should be happy, right? Way too many days left to trust this will stay a top 25, but after exactly 1675 kms and hitting the 31.8 goal I think I’m done with it and will move on to the Gr3 roller coaster. The spirit of Tom Cruise served me well (Days of Thunder was better than Top Gun, there, I said it 😜).

You are not the only one. This cars/track combo just doesn't seem to click with me. At less you are doing 51.7s...I'm totally stuck at 51.9s 🥲

I drove a few different cars and so far the Alfa, BRZ, and the clunky BMW M6 seems to be the most drivable for me. All of them can get optimal of 51.7s. The BRZ is absolutely monster in the 1st sector...but I NEVER able to get the 2 hairpins in the 2nd sector right.

Thanks so much for your so valuable advices @Saargasm
I'll upload your ghost, try to follow it, and let you know :)

QUESTION:

Sometimes there are parts of the track where you just barely have time to upshift right before you have to downshift again.

In other words, you are heading to a corner that you take in third gear, but just a little little bit before you get there, your RPM are high enough that you can shift up to 4th, but then you will have to shift back down in like 2 seconds.

My question is, in general, should you try to stay in a lower gear and don’t bother shifting up, or should you try to take the opportunity to upshift when you can?

I know there are a ton of variables like car and track etc but I’m just asking as like a general rule of thumb.
