Now then, I am back from my holiday and have some catching up to do.
  • Below are some statistics for TT41 at Monza in the Ferrari 330 P4 '67.
  • @Vule - Per the request in this post I have deleted your old data and added your new profile
  • @daabulls - Per PM I've switched you to controller
  • @Gearbanger - Per PM I've added you to the scoreboard
  • I might have to wait to tomorrow for the jetlag to wear off before I tackle Laguna Seca or Goodwood.

@half_sourly - thanks as always for the effort, particularly today with jet-lag!!

One question - is the average position being calculated correctly on the GTP leaderboard? For example, @djolliea finished 55th and has a best of 8th, but his average position is 462nd? Given his current speed that seems inconceivable, which is why I’m thinking the table is picking up events where he didn’t compete maybe and skewing the result?? Or is it maybe showing something different entirely like worst finishing position and the heading is in error? 🧐

Ps. 34 of you are too quick 😂

No worries; nothing like a spreadsheet to keep the eyes open!

Good observation, but the averages are correct. @djolliea has been a demon of late, but by his standards had poorer results early on, for example 2394 in TT 19, 2215 in TT15. He only started doing TTs from TT12 and after the first 8 he did, his average was 1,326. Since then it has been improving every TT.

The ghost of TheNormsk managed to pull me into silver territory at Laguna Seca. Sorry about the extra miles. I owe you a new set of tyres... @P-Courty: I see you but can't catch you. Maybe next time... 😉

I have to talk with Q about the Goodwood thing. My DB5 seems to have traded stabilizers against machines guns and that doesn't help the driving behaviour... There isn't even a secret boost if pressing the overtake-button. Silver is far out of reach for me this time. It is even worse than Bathurst for me despite golding the CE at Goodwood.

For RBR I would be happy about some ghost laps, especially by my approved favourite instructors like Saargasm and GlockPants... Maybe there lies still some gold for me.

Have a nice day!
If I had started Laguna Seca sooner I think I would have managed gold but just haven't had the time to put in to it.

I think the only secret button in the DB5 is for an ejector seat 😂 and that doesn't seem to work to shed some weight either. Maybe I'll be chasing down your ghost at Goodwood by the end of this week if you keep at it.

I've been watching everyones laps but I can't figure out where the 4 seconds to a 1:23.xxx is, definitely aliens 👽

It's one of those ones where being able to manually shift helps a bit.

The balls it takes to do turn one following Jeddah is the difference because it sets your whole lap up, and metal gears just drive through the chicane at 80mph probably helps too 🤣

This is a clutch one for me in the DB5 I can grind out a vette Lap but suck different ways to go fast

Fastest Canadian at Monza in the gtp crowd, lol, I'll take it.

And I said

But if you so wish, just exclude me from now on. Less trouble
Your "And I said" link is to where on 25 Aug you asked to be excluded. My link and quote are from after that (31 Aug) and was my response to you. I cannot see a response from you to my 31 Aug note, hence I included you as I said I would.

Given your request above I'll exclude you from the TT that ends this week.

Evening all!

Quick update as life has been very busy, a long work trip and then now a nasty bout of Covid has ‘slowed’ me down so to speak 😁 feeling a bit better today so has a session and saw some improvement at Laguna Seca, I have a love hate with this track… it is one of my favourite ‘Gran Turismo’ tracks but god it can be unforgiving sometimes 😂 luckily the Corvette takes the sand quite well. Some improvement today and I’m smelling a top 100 finish which would be nice.. watch this space 😎

Dipped my toes into the DB5/Goodwood trial; it’s a track I don’t know well and boy this thing is a handful! Feels like it’d be a lot more fun on a pad, getting the right corrective lock every time it goes sideways is a skill I don’t quite possess.. Fair play some of you true aliens, @Gomario JSP and @Barareklam setting some monster times already (we don’t mention @djolliea, he’s always outrageously quick these days!)

Happy lapping fellas, hoping I’ll feel well enough to throw in some laps tomorrow 😎

I'm on a controller.

Went back to Laguna tonight in an effort to re-catch @Dan_Tes. Surprisingly I gained a tenth but remain about half a tenth behind. Damn! :mischievous: I would love to pick up a touch more, but I don't know if I have any time left in me around the course. Half a tenth doesn't seem like much, but the lower that time gets, the more difficult it becomes to pick up even small amounts. By the way, I still want to blow up the sausage curb at turn 6.

I had a 3 star roulette ticket from Saturday with 3 cars, 10,000 cr, and 5,000 cr. You can guess what I got with that one. But...I had a 4 star after tonight's mileage. The game froze for a second when I clicked on it. I think some type of error occurred, because I was presented with 5 cars on the roulette! This is what I ended up with.

@Dan_Tes Great to see you online again, not so great to see your times go down
That's again a very sharp time already on Seca mate, unbelievable
Get well soon mate!

For the Goodwood slide fest i do indeed think we as pad users have the advantage here, altho i realy had to push for my PB lap, and took me a fair bit of km's :lol:, i would say leave it for what it is.....just once......

@Dolph Drago , here he comes with his miracle lap
Dam fast mate, i havn't got a clue what you do with that dualsense, every TT you are up there again and again :bowdown:

I was a bit done with Goodwood so did revisit the RBR...
Pushing like hell to get to my old sub 30.
Finaly find the flow around that time again, knocked of 2 tenths of my PB and took a jawbreaking look at my leaderboard....

Are you guys using some pumped gas i don't know about? is this a tuning event afterall??:lol::lol:
@Dolph Drago how in the world...........
I have to re-look at my tactiscs, cause you guys are to fast at the ring!

RBR.jpg

It's kind of bizar btw, that i am at 2.19 % and only 4317
259181 entries if you look at the stats on the GT7 page......

So A LOT of fast guys out there?, or i'm just to slow here :lol::lol:

C8 at Laguna Seca will be my last TT. I have voiced my concern about the engine braking exploit many times before, but this one broke the camel's back. It is (at least borderline) impossible to gold this without doing stuff you are absolutely not supposed to do when driving, so I'm outta here after this one. I'll see if I have it within me to exploit it enough to gold it, because I have golded all the TTs I've participated so far, but maybe it's just fitting to leave this at silver as an eternal reminder for not even trying ever again.

Well done PD, sitting on your hands and not fixing this before it was too late. TTs was the only new content I had any interest in, and now it's gone. I suppose I'm gonna have to really see if custom races have what it takes to keep me interested in GT7.

I'm in the top 50 and not exploiting the gears so it's definitely not impossible. You can get very similar results with "normal" trail braking and downshifting.

As @djolliea mentioned above, it is absolutely more then doable to get within 3% without sausing the gearbox and beeing on pad at Seca, and that counts for all the other TT's to.

I would say skip the sausing, get gold, and move on the Goodwood or the Ring if you haven't done that yet,
Goodwood is a real nice challenge.

Imo PD I'd definitely not always wrong with those combo's, we had quite a few realy good ones lately , and seca is one of them if you ask me 😁

@Metalgear9493

God that T1 is satisfying 😅🤣, im loosing so much time there compared to you, brave on the chicane to! , insane lap!

I managed to trim my vette time by .2 ish on sunday night, after returning home from camping. So i think a gold time is there for me if i can just get a good focused session in. Unfortunately 13.5 hours at work yesterday meant that was out of the question. Hopefully today is the day.

Then on to goodwood. Really looking forward to that one

Thanks, need to get a better exit out of the chicane though and ideally hit line at 102mph.

Will try some more runs tomorrow.

Well, i am in silver range for the current two TTs. I am at a fork in the road here. I don't like either one of them at all and have zero interest in going back to try them again. But if I don't, it'll break my streak of 18 straight gold. I was really wishing the Vette one would hold but it hasn't and I am out by .056", then I'd worry about the Aston one later.

Guess we'll see how it goes.

Well, you are a well-certified alien, the kinda driver I especially put that borderline condition in my claim :D

That being said, even you at least with your 1:30.404 lap do use the exploit. Some of your downshifts into the corkscrew and T10 would be bounced by protection, potentially even the 4th->3rd shift into turn 1. While you don't really use it to flick the backend out like the aggressive guys, it still helps with slowing the car down. Not implying you couldn't gold this even with AT tranny, just saying that as long as the option of helping the car slow down and/or turn in is there, everyone of us pushing to our personal limits (and beyond) will, at some point, end up doing this every now and then. And this exploit has been artificially moving the 3% threshold to be gradually more demanding. Personally, this is where I draw my line.

The transmission software would be one of the easier things for PD to model into these cars, but they just don't for some reason. For me, it's off-putting.

Here's gameplay (didn't save the replay) of my 1:30.115 lap (P43) where I specifically tried to avoid hitting the limiter while downshifting. There are a couple of corners where the RPMs jump close to the redline but I'm not hitting the limiter at any point like some of the top guys.

@djolliea can gold this backwards and blindfolded problably.

That's a solid lap imo without sausing the gearbox.
So he has set the bar for non sausers.....

I have to get back to Laguna Seca now :lol:, and you too
