Wowsers! I was just about to check in with the only improvement I’ve made today which was at Alsace after some fruitless laps in the mad Lambo (feels like you have to do a lot of laps to get used to that thing again…) Thinking I’d done a thing by setting this time only to see @djolliea get within a blink of the world record 🤯 one day soon you’ll get it I’m sure my brother 😎

But yeah quite happy with my Alsace time even though there seems room for improvement. Sub 47.4 is my next challenge… still can’t stop going round and round once I’ve started though, I was nearly late for work tonight as I couldn’t stop lapping 😂😂

Then moved on to Alsace to see if I could improve my yesterday's 47.300. After about 100 mid 47s I finally got down to 0:47.224 with a slow last corner. Not complaining but if I had nailed the last corner the lap would have easily been a 47.1xx.

I love how you consider your attempt at the last corner "slow" on your lap. That would be a perfect final turn for me.

I made my first run at Alsace tonight. Everyone is posting sub 48's like it's nothing in this thread. So it surprised me just how many laps it took me to break into the 47's myself. One corner I'm struggling with is the quick right hander before the big ass hill. It feels like I can't get the car to turn in. It compromises my entry into the next corner, and I either find myself sliding out wide and nowhere near the curbing, or I slow down too much and lose a ton of time in the process.

Lol...I JUST realized the Alsace TT is open to all GT4 cars 😂 With everyone using the Mazda3 I thought it is a spec time trail 🤪

Maybe I will play arround with other cars :dunce:
This is actually a question flipping back and forth in my mind since couple of days...
Are the good ones going straight to Mazda because they know it makes the deal, or they try couple of cars to get a taste of how it is in the specific tt??
I'm referring to the early challengers, for someone coming after them i understand that the leaderboard is problably the go to hint.

Yesterday I went off to road Atlanta. After the gr1 tt , getting used to this car and tyres is a red lap party.
Turn1 is still an hit or miss, but with this combo is not alone.
However I'm still performing at my top there

The turn that i really struggle is the first right in the downhill esses.
I understand that i have to be carefull on throttle in the first two turns of the downhill, but my issue with the right hander is that a haven't find references for it and never get the apex unless i really slow down to get myself time to see it

By now is safe silver, not sure if i have enough for gold, but I'm sure I can improve quite a bit

I can't speak for being an early challenger, but it is interesting how the meta seems to turn up in the first day.

I chose the Mazda3 because it was the meta and I wanted something that meant I didn't spend too much time on this event. I have a lot of others to do right now. If I had more time, I probably would've started with a different car first. At least on the Alsace TT, low gear performance is very important. I'm sure some people more familiar with the BoP on cars know which is better in that regard.

Few laps in the 918 this morning, and man! that cockpit-view is insane!, this combo looks ideal for VR, the lighting the elevations.....

That said, back to the flatscreen with dualsense 🤣🤣...
I didn't hit any turns, so strated playing around a bit , made some donuts and did some more relaxed laps not trying to push like crazy in de S'es and tried to shortshift to 4th after T3 what surprisingly bought me very close to my own ghost

I did saus the gearbox a bit for T 10A because I had the feeling I was coming in to hot 🤣 but my lap turned out quite well, at least a PB 😁

Did try to follow @djolliea on Alsace for a fair amount of laps, I can follow you very closely for the most of the lap (wich isn't that big to be honest 🤣)
But man, you're T1 is insane, you are staying so close to the apex the whole corner, it looks like you even bump on hitting the apex the first time, but you exit speed is bizar out of it 🙏 like @Dan_Tes said, I have no doubt you'll be hitting a WR very soon!

Road Atlanta 1:15.689 for now

Slowly getting there. Aiming sub 2 minutes. This is beginning to borderline on masochism.

It took a lot of talking to myself to actually stop. I don't like the track and the car is awful to drive, but my goal was to hopefully get a sub 2 minute time as i know i have it in me. I really don't know if I'll actually get it though, and it's not fun.

Meanwhile this allsack tt is a tricky one. Super addictive also. Currently just outside of gold, but my optimal is a 47.9

Yeah, I was taking a different line in T1 than De Bruins' WR ghost and was actually over half a tenth faster than him in sector 1 (.53 vs .60). Haven't checked his new WR lap yet. Interesting to see if he's still using the same line.

Even though my opt says I can go faster, I doubt that I can string the sectors together with this oddball monstrosity – what an understeering overpowered mess of a car. If you go easy there's actual signs of decent handling in there, but I think I'm out at this point and take my PB as is. Would make for a decent 4wd drift thing though, I suppose.

Yeah you gain alot at the start of the lap, that's bad news for me 🤣
Most of the time I'm coming in to fast on T1, the times I coasted more were faster.....but the brains....... 🤣

Stil made major time....from 47.675 to 47.622 🤣🤣

Working hard, except for the throttle pedal which is hardly working.
Little bastard keeps cutting off randomly. Wonder if I could use it at as an excuse to the missus to get elite pedals once more 🤔

Slowly making progress as muscle memory is kickin' in.

@djolliea I think your mothership is calling you. You better go check, and leave us clumps of flesh to drive in peace :D

Are you sure it's the pedal and not the car? Unless I'm just missing the joke, but with cars like these you can't engage the throttle whilst you are braking.

Hmm, haven't really thought about it, but I have set the threshold of the brake fairly high to not accidentally press it.

Thanks! I'll keep testing.

Well, it's official, the Alsace TT is an easy one - how do I know? Because I'm into silver already! 🤣
I'd post a screenshot but the PS app says my username or password is wrong so I can't get the picture..... goodness me. it's an app for playstation, not Fort Knox! Who cares???

I was wondering if applying the throttle and brakes simultaneously cuts the power with this particular car outside of this TT too, or is it meant to prevent charging the battery by dragging the brakes only in this TT? At first, I also thought there was something wrong with my pedals.

Got home on Thursday and gave the GR4 a go in the Porsche as I've always liked the way it drives, thought I had done pretty well but couldn't get anymore out of it after 6 laps... Then my kitten chewed through my hdmi lead 😡 so that was the end of that short stint 😂

Today I bought the Mazda meta, I'm still not sure I like how it handles but this is the progress from an hour with it.

I noticed something like this, too. But on the WTC 700 Le Mans race. I learned how to drag the brake during last week's TT using the 919 hybrid, thought it might work with the 918, but I don't think it did.
