The Nismo 400r around Tokyo is both lots of fun and insanely frustrating. Managed to put in a 1:22.271 which places me 213th currently. The 400r is an absolute dream to drive, although I would hope that to be the case given it is on Sports Softs. Using Midnight Purple II helps with laptime as well :sly:. Unfortunately the penalties for wall collisions are the opposite of fun, even breathing near the wall earns a penalty, so there were many restarts in the session as a result. There's still a small amount of time left in that lap, I hope I can break into the 21s, but that will be a tall order.

The Mercedes AMG GT Black Series around Interlagos on the other hand has not suited me at all. Currently at a 1:35.264 which places me 885th and I really don't know that I will improve on this lap as I cannot figure out this combination. My laps so far have felt much faster than the lap time is suggesting they are. I don't think I will go back to this one anyway.

Might take a small break from time trialing while I complete all the Master Licenses, weekly challenges and new menu books which all look quite interesting.

Allright, I'm getting pumped up and ready to tackle the Tokyo TT, I'm gonna give it my focus and attention 100%.
Not even try it... sorry my mental health is more important for me....

New WR time at Tokyo of 1:20.817 brings the Gold cut-off down to 1:23.242 - I‘m wafer thin to gold now by two hundredths so as expected I’ll have to go again to be safe. I think my optimal splits stacked up to a 1:22.9 so in theory I should be good, but as with everyone else, it feels as if I just need to look at a wall wrong and the time goes red  :scared: :banghead:

@Gomario JSP and @Boabdulrahman - nice laps!

EDIT: there’s a 1.5% split just from positions 1 - 100… @half_sourly Sir! - from your stat library, can you tell if that’s within bounds for a TT, or is this a special cause?
The gap from 1st to 100th in percentage terms across the 53 TTs on which I've reported to date is 1.11% on average. The Tokyo gap is 1.33% at the moment, slightly down from when you wrote that and not out of line with a somewhat difficult track and car combination. Below I show the data to date, naming a few of the outliers and showing average to date and the current Tokyo gap.

Did I hear correctly that the Nismo 400R is a gift for some of the new licenses? So we can get a new one with 0 kms instead of the LCD one (renting is not of interest)?

Probably heard about the LFA being a prize.

From this article:
  • Master National B License, Gold – Ford 1932 Roadster ’63
  • Master National A License, Gold – Mercedes AMG GT Black Series ’20
  • Master International B License, Gold – Lexus LFA ’10
  • Master International A License, Gold – Porsche 962C ’88
  • Master Super License, Gold – McLaren MP4/4 ’88

This new TT is really hard to me.
I managed to have a bronze only with stability+countersteeting strong, as opposed to my standard no stability and contersteering weak (or none)

It's not just a question of track limits, it's really that I cannot bring speed into the corners, and, most of all, I cannot stop watching one meter beyond the car.
That track is so challenging to me that I see my viewpoint closing down turn after turn

Very interesting, thanks. Seems like I probably spoke a little soon (early in the TT) and it will continue to normalize through this week. Appreciate you satisfying my curiosity though

Considering the smooth flowing nature of the Tokyo TT, can we safely assume that this would be a breeze for those players with a steering wheel when compared to those with DS4?

Right now in Silver category with 1:26:6xx.

Really nice TT, the car feels great with soft tyres. On a wheel you can feel the deformation and grip, all the bumps, control the slides right up to the wall, it's a fun time. Don't think they have changed the FFB, more likely just a good combo of car, tyres and track.

I know some don't like it but it's about the closest we're going to get to Monaco (at night)! May well be easier with a wheel but I can see some seriously rapid DS4 times...

I love this Tokyo TT, but there is simply too much to do in GT7 at the moment

Have done three short sessions in between Sophy races, custom races and master licence tests. First try gave me a 1:22.9, second a 1:22.7 and finally today a rather okay lap but still at least 2/10ths there. I do throw out a lot of invalids though. I've grinded the Tokyo 600pp event a lot, and those little bumps go with the territory of minimizing the grind time. But this TT is such vintage GT, the hunt for flawless execution in Tokyo with the ultimate Skyline!

Edit: Tiny improvement to call it a day:

I'm on wheel, but more than a breeze I'd call it a pain in.... you know what
I think than it's not just the hand part, but the feet too, where you have to be very accurate on the brake to loosethe right amount of speed

But maybe you were talking to someone good, which I'm not 😀

Well guys, I took about 2-3 hours of time Saturday night in the Interlagos TT and managed to get a time of 1'38.831. I think I'm good with my bronze medal. If I have to sell 4-5 cars to make up for the silver/gold values then so be it. The AMG here is sometimes a pain in the butt to turn, see I'm using a ps4 wireless Dualsense controller, it's a red one.

So, what were your times there. i think I did good considering the car provided and the track limits/rules and regulations. If it had been a Group 3 challenge I would have spent longer on it.

Hello 👋 Regarding the Honda Civic Time Trial on the Nürburgring, I was one of the 1001 players who managed to beat the real life record. But still I didn't got the certificate that they promised. Today they also removed the results of both Honda Civic time trials. So I'm wondering if any of the other 1000 players already received it 🤔

I think we will get the certificate at the same time more or less. Patience now. :D

If you are having a hard time with the 400R, try braking a bit earlier and coast a little mid corner. Let the car settle first before applying power. It won't bring you stunning fast time, but should be sufficient enough to get your into the gold.

I had a bit more time today since I have to burn the last few of my vacation days before Year's end, so 3 day weekend for me. So 30 laps at Tokyo!

It took a while to get dialed in and that was initially frustrating but sure enough I started getting fast and eventually set a few valid laps. Thanks to @djolliea I tried the upshift to 5th early in S1, I agree that this is important. I had tried this on Day 1, after watching the WR replay, but at that time my familiarity with the car and track were insufficient to execute that properly.

Very nice progress today! But there's still a few tenths on the table if I can manage it.

Lap 21 was the fastest I clocked today. An invalidated 1:22.385, so there's for sure more.

You're flying around here, nice work Sir! No chance I can catch you (as normal  ), but I'm putting the gap in this event down to the fact your eyes are nearly 15 years younger than mine, enabling you to see better in the dark!! ;)

Didn't get a chance to hop on yesterday as I had too much to watch on TV. F1 race, Colts game, NASCAR race, Bengals game. By the time all was done, I needed to get some sleep having to work today. :boggled: : Anyway...I was back at Tokyo tonight. After an agonizing session where I ran 2 clean laps out of 15?, I cleared my mind and started anew. Following a few cleaner laps, I finally hooked up a semi-decent one that beat my previous best by 2 tenths. Took my leaderboard pictures and saved my replay, then decided to give it one more quick run for the heck of it. I proceeded to pick up another tenth. But I still feel like I left some time out there. If only I could get down into the 1:21 range of those pesky Scandinavian aliens. How do you guys do it week after week??

FINALLY! After more laps and miles and wall hits than I care to count, I’m under the magic (for me) 1:23 with a lap of 1:22.950. Optimal time is now in the 1:22.6 range, but I might be done with this TT. Walls are infuriating but the car is lovely to drive so I found myself putting in 25 lap stints each time. Hopefully this should be safely in gold, albeit slower than most of you! (I haven’t moved on my friends list but have moved nearly 1300 places on the main leaderboard). Good luck to those still trying to stay off the walls!!

I think 22 is a safe Gold time. WR hasn't moved much this week so far, which I thought for sure it would have.

Nice lap though! Crazy how high you can jump on the global board with a little improvement.

Your lap is pretty good, especially last two sectors. I am much closer to walls than you in first two sectors.
When I reach good time I can study top ones laps and see where I can improve. Usually have ghost of leader on 0.2 seconds and try to react instantly to his movements, to replicate them. Keep your eyes on track and look through ghost and it will not bother you.
Practice, I can make many laps and not give up so easily

Lastly if I really want to chase last milliseconds then I can use video editing app, put my lap next to leader ones laps and study where I can improve. It's kinda like visual telemetry 😊

Seems I am, in fact, better than I give myself credit for. I was pretty sure I couldn't get to certificate with the Civic at 'schleife, but got it pretty comfortably. With this Tokyo TT, I estimated a 1:22.3 is in the cards for me, but today that was an easy target. Maybe it was the Finnish color variant I rented for today, but those mid 22s just kept on coming. And then suddenly got a superb corner after the first tunnel and didn't even realize. Which might have been for the better, because there was absolutely no calculations going on in my head on the latter stages of the lap. I kinda felt like I missed the apex on the corner after the second tunnel, but had no sliding so the momentum remained. The one thing bugging me is that I was actually going for another fast lap after this, so did the 3rd to 4th gear change just before the start/finish line. And I actually was faster through the first sector on the following lap, but totally binned it after the tunnel. So would have gladly exchanged that for those 1/100ths I could have had by just revving it. I don't think that would have been enough to get to 21s though. I have had 15/100ths worth of better sectors than this one (first and last sectors), so theoretically it would be possible.

Edit: Soooo... since no-one else is posting, I'll make a little addition. As in, totally left the 22s in the dust so ignore all of that above :dopey:

Evenings seem to be my prime time, was the same yesterday. Being off the track for a few hours in between and coming back, the learnings of the earlier session just take form. This lap had absolutely no weak spots, though in two corners I had to do an additional lift-off on the gas for the simple reason that I was going faster than on any other lap before. Don't even know how I had the instinct of doing that, I'm pretty sure on most occasions I would have just plowed to the Barry R, sweared a while and started again. Oh yes, and absolutely no last stretch upshift here, grind that limiter to the finish line!

Have to say, I'm a grown man (like, Alonso old) and still: once those digits were on the HUD, I was quite emotional. Had to have that real race like cool down lap, just letting that Champion blue 400R coast through Tokyo and admiring the views in VR. The night lights looked brighter than what I recall from before, somehow. And in the final tunnel, downshift to 2nd and redline that inline 6 one last time. Beautiful.
