On a side note: with only 4.5K players to go, this could well become the most popular TT so far. Anyone has a theory why this would be? See https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/time-trial-results-and-community-leader-boards.424113/
Because all of us old men who've been playing forever love this super classic combination! It's iconic. I played the heck out of this TT because it felt like the old GT made new. Super fun for me.

Also. Made it into the 22s. That feels good. Understanding this car more and more but def getting closer to my maximum.

I'm watching the new WR lap now. They get so close to the wall after Tunnel 2.

The only inefficiency I can see in the lap is exiting the chicane they correct pretty aggressively to avoid hitting the wall.

Perhaps a 1:50.0xx is possible?

I am an "old" player too (nothing like the GODs like @smoothbore12 or @Pesselles still) but nostalgia do not play any role in the fact that I enjoyed this TT.

I think that this is a great combo, with a pleasing and rewarding car to drive (which I happen to enjoy a lot elsewhere too).

Combos with road cars like the MX8 are more technical to enjoy with cars difficult to drive fast consistently (plus the track is meh) and are maybe more enjoyable for skilled players using MT or even a wheel.

It's a rewarding car because it's always been a part of GT. If you couldn't win races with this thing, you likely couldn't win. I said in an earlier post that this car is brutally balanced and I stand by that. It's so damn good when pushed hard. And all of us old dogs know it. 🔥

The margins in the Trial Mountain Time Trial changed a bit. I got my hands at it again and improved a little bit (0,150) Just in case. Last week I tried the RX8 and forgot about it. I gave another run at it, and after 10 laps got myself within the silver range. I feel there's more time there for me but that'll be left for another day.

RX8 2:26.625
Supra GT500 1:55.546

Laps were uploaded in my Gt7 page.

Edit: corrected the times

10 more laps at TM, no improvement anywhere.

Consistency not so bad, but in a slow way 😅

TT at Trial Moutain3.png

90 laps in.

Best lap shared this time.

Main struggles/spots where I lose time every lap : final chicane, and the Nessie turn just before. Everywhere else, I can do "correct" sectors but I don't succeed each time, while in those last turns I fail most of the time.

Last sector best time ever is 42.912.

Optimal with all best sectors is 1:54.403

That's not so bad, you're almost faster than our international GOD... (Greek Old Dude)....
Are you planning to create a "Turtle Team" or similar with @smoothbore12 ?

Well today I was finally able to make an improvement at TM. It took almost my entire 30 laps stint, but I was putting down pretty decent sectors, just not together.

I still think I'll give it another go tomorrow. We'll see what happens then.

Here's the replay with my VR POV. The ghost I'm chasing is the new WR lap.

And sorry, @Carlos Fandango ...

@330_D you're safe for now. But a wild @Dan_Tes has appeared! I'm sure he'll knock us down on the final days!

I really like this combo and gave it one last try. Even my optimum lap was outside of gold territory so I called it a day and went back to Silverado... What's next?

If so, I've got a sim racing equipment sponsor for them:

I feel like royalty on that leaderboard.

The Nessie turn (I got that reference!) and the turn before you can exit on 4th if you are having trouble either spinning the rear or finding the right moment to go full throtlle.

If that's the case.

Other than that, it's a solid silver. Much more solid than mine 😃

Thanks for the hint, but I use AT ;) and not too much issues with wheelspin with TC on 2. (Losing less time like that than wheelspinning)

Most of the time I gain time in the turn before Nessie's one, but I lose at least 0.3s if not more between this turn and the entrance of the chicane (where I lose a good chunk on the exit before the final straight too)

Nessie's turn is n° 13

Jokes aside, that was hard work, but very fun as always on Trial Mountain
The lap was very good with my personal best sector 1 of 30.890 - the frequency of hitting all 3 first apexes is like 1 in 10 for me.
Not optimal tunnel 2 entry (ran wide past the middle line), but the exit on to the backstraight was one of my best and it felt soooo good.
Blew it a little in the last chicane as I missed the ideal 1st apex hug and from there only damage limitation, easily lost a tenth there.

I will ofcourse try again on the last day, but not getting the hopes up as it's already very tight and making any improvement from there is tough.
The optimal as always looks good, but I'd be more than satisfied getting back that tenth I lost in the chicane...
