Hello everyone and welcome back on Gran Turismo Time Trail (with @Tidgney 's tone)

As said yesterday, I've tried the @GlockPants method and.... I'm still in silver BUT.
  • created a custom race with similar settings as the LM TT
  • won 2 stints of 10 laps with "expert" opponents (thx for the credits) with a PB at 1:29.44x in the 1st and 1:29.45x in the 2nd
  • I was able to improve my consistency (mostly in a range of 1:29.7 to 1:30.0)
Then, I've opened the TT and started to lap as I've done previously in the custom race.
After 10 laps on the TT, no improvement so far but I feel much more confident, less stressed, less tense on the controller.
I was in the same range (1:29.7 to 1:30.0) with an optimal at 1:29.434.

So, it works for me!! And I strongly encourage everyone who struggle on the TTS to test this method too.
Thanks @GlockPants

I know and I feel it's only a matter of time to regain my seat in the Yellow Club.
I'll keep practising and pushing this way.
I took inspiration from your diligent note taking and tried it as well. Golded the CE somewhat quickly, then did a 10 lap all Civic TC race. The AI takes some insanely terrible lines and I once again invalidated a clean race about ten times, as seems to be my standard per race. Somehow I can't get the time trialist out of me even with other cars on the track.

Afterwards I did some laps and called it quits while still in silver but the optimum safely in gold territory. Came back later tonight and watched Tidgney's lap guide, then followed his ghost (with sector resets) in game. I think I might stick to this approach, maybe scrapping the part where I stumble around the track without having watched a lap guide first. However I have a hunch that this might be some valuable learning experience that will bear fruit over time.

FIRST GOLD EVER 😨🙏

Let's see how long this holds up!
Congratulations! Great to see guys evolve here over time. With this time the WR would have to drop below 1:26,771 for you to be out of gold. I would hope that its safe. However with the weird drift that is possible at the down hill hairpin it might be possible that someone pulls off some insane speed through that thing and improves a lot. Not sure if that theory makes sense though.
I everybody!

Been lurking for a while on this forum, since i bought a new wheel and the "itch" came back :)

Was around a couple a years ago, on WRS foruns, so it´s nice to see some familiar names.

Glad to see so many "aliens" and the will to help others.

I´m from Portugal, already past 50, but my mind refuses to accept that :)
Welcome! I thought I was getting old gaming wise getting back into it at 37 years old. But all you old fellas here give me hope. Thank you! :-)
Yeah, i always feel the need to slap a dope livery on the TT car i use. I'm not good at it myself but luckily there are some amazing creators out there! 😁
I am now officially on livery crack. Will probably never do a TT or online race without one ever again.

I really can't drive this Civic! Probably the hardest TT I've tried so far for me. 1.29.1 is all I can manage, hopefully it holds for gold, but man, this thing... it understeers like crazy, and I know you get the nose in with the brakes but I'm finding consistency very tricky with that, many crashes have occured. The banked corner is a nightmare but I don't much like the S sequence before either. Not for me this one!

I have no explanation for this lap. Sector 1 was awful, but I accidentally yeeted my way through the downhill left and gained everything back and then some. Despite moving up quite a few spots overall, I'm still well down my friends leaderboard thanks to all the 👽s here! I think I need to stop adding friends from this thread...:P

THAT was one hell of a 2nd sector! And OUCH on first corner :scared: It would've been a 1:27.6s for sure.

I knew you'd throw a heavy lap out. This kinda car is your jam!

Easier on the brakes and problem solved. Especially through the sweeping left hander.

For the S curves, brake slightly earlier and get the car all the way to the right for the first part of the S.

Just PER-FECT !

Couldn’t quite catch you @Gomario JSP but I did manage to close the gap in a short 30 minute session this evening. Sector three is still a bit of a mystery, but managed to set myself up well with a best ever sector 1 and not binning it in sector 2 😂 - such a fun car to throw around this track!

Lap shared for anyone interested.

I was skeptical at first when I saw the new TT. Lago Maggiore East in reverse is not a track I particularly like. I had never driven it before, so I was all the more surprised that I got into it relatively quickly. That's definitely down to the Civic, which is really wonderful to drive.
The only disadvantage is that you really have to take a lot of shortcuts, which I generally don't like.

Anyway, at the end of my first stint, the fastest time was 1:27.235. That's currently P8 in the world :)
There are still about 2 tenths to go, let's see if I can get the lap together.

Wow man, how did you do that? I pulled a 1'31.110 only after 5 laps Sunday. Was thrilled about it.

If I may correct:

This is more realistic... :D
You are right, i can't control myself....., and the fact that one of my cats was nipple nibbling at 5 o'clock this morning did help decide to ride
I do still find little bits here and there where I can up my delta so when I have a really good one going I try them and they have been working. 4th gear all the way through the first turn and shift exactly at the apex into 3rd gained my tenth today.
I know the feeling, i'm kind of inconsistent in sectors, but consistent in laptimes, i have waaaayyy more laps into the 8xx's now, but the miracle lap i keep stuffing up..., like for example i ran a 54.950 this morning after the left curve of downhill death, that was the fastst i have ever done and would absolutely end in a low .7xx but it's A a good S1 and a realy bad last sector or the other way around ......,

You mean T1 in 4th and 3 on apex??, that's the fun part in this, there are so many different driving styles that end up in the 8's....,
i'm yeeting it ( not sausing it ) to second and trailbrake al the way to the apex, sometimes even a little longer and exit in 3th..., but i must say that the WR ghost is unstoppable out of T1, so there should be time on the table for me .....maby.....:lol:

you prick......

:lol:, nice mate, and well deserved on your new setup., i don't like it, but i'll respect it :lol::lol::lol:

i was close today, but yet so far away.... i tried but it just didn't work today....

That was a nice S2 mate!, welcome to the "seperate bazooka sector times club":lol:
you will prob find your miracle lap again on this one, good to see you improve again, i need you in my fight against a certain Muffin, we gotta keep the controller players alive mate!,
Yeah, i have a problem with my leaderboard too, all the people i accept seem to be aliens these days :lol::lol:, maby we are getting old Dolph

That is a nice improvement!, and not a bad time on the board!, you became quite fast lately! , stay with us please..... don't fall for the abduction tricks....,:lol::lol:

My routine is actually always the same. I watch the replay of the WR to analyze which technique might be necessary to be fast.
Then I load the ghost of the fastest lap and try to keep up sector by sector. If I succeed, I switch off the ghost and start my run. It usually takes 2-3 hours and then I usually have a time that satisfies me.

Incredible, we have the exact same routine (except one detail) !!!

It usually takes 2-3 weeks and then I usually have a time that satisfies me...

Finally got to hit the rx8 tt for a few laps yesterday and was able to hit near gold with little effort which kinda surprised me as i don't really enjoy nor do i feel I'm very good at the track. It is a great combo though and i am really enjoying running it.

Home from work today so back for more laps with my morning coffee and we are down to a 23.475 and i really think i can break 22 with a "perfect" lap.

Not sure i am looking forward to the civic tbh. I do not get along well with fwd.....

Yes. I used to yeet it into second to slow and rotate but it's faster for me to stay in 4th lightly lightly lightly on the throttle to control balance on the brakes (I find trail braking on acceleration to be faster where you typically spin on exit, as sort of old school rudimentary traction control) and I can nearly stay in @Metalgear9493 ghost out the exit doing that. Ymmv because I don't think there is actually one optimal line in ANY corner here. 😂😂😂

Well....the Logitech G Pro (replacement) finally arrived this morning! Testing out the new toy immediately with the Civic of course....I was expecting to be much slower since I have to adjust to the new wheel and pedals (both are much heavier!)

I guess I was wrong.......improved by nearly 2/10s after a 20 laps session.....

Now I can really feel what the car is doing mid corner. Some of the corners were very nervous with the G923 because I don't know what the car is about to do..now I'm like....ooh...the car is fine...keep going! Also it kinda solve my problem of my not turning enough when I'm getting close to the apex.

Wow, awesome setup, when did you receive it? I am sticking with my controllers. Nice cat btw!

Originally recived it at the end of last year, but the wheel base had an issue that keep turning itself off. Spent 2 weeks to go through the return and replace process and the replacement finally arrived last sunday.

 , it's a weird one indeed with the Civic, but i will surely give 4th a try then!, thanks for the inside,. these things make this forum so damn good and competitive!

@Chris30 read the above as "i did not have the right gear since last year and was still high on the leaderboard, now i do have the right gear............goodbye... i am officially abducted.... see ya! "

But Chris, sticking with the controller is fine!, i am a controller user and sometimes i can give him kind of a hard time, or more.... keep him sharp , so just keep practising on the controller and you will become faster every step of the way 👍

Yeah, the controller has it's own mind. I trust it so I'll never stop using it. I think the wheel would be more complex, see if you get your foot hung in the pedals, that would be bad. If you know what I mean.

You made that look effortless, whereas I feel like I’m controlling the car while preventing a swarm of bees inside the car from stinging me - nicely done 👽 ;)
Yeah i have no idea how he makes it looks so easy, if you look at this lap, i swear he can still find like 2 tenths.....
The only thing i'm interesting in is the staying in 5th... i'm going to 4th at the end on the S' es and the staying in 4th in the corner after the deadly downhill left hander..... looks so much more smooth, i'm fighting it all the way......

we shall see!

New test today in Lake Maggiore and improve my time by a few seconds at 1'28'623 with optimal time at 1'28'357 😡😡😡.
My problem is that I can't be consistent in my braking but I think I'll get there and why not get closer to 1'28'000.
As for Nurburgring GP, I am very happy with my ranking of 869th place. Even though I am 200 places away from my record, my goal of being in the top 1000 has been achieved. and this is my goal this year, to be more consistent in my rankings (even if this will be my 9th consecutive gold medal out of a total of 29 medal gold obtained).

Yeah I tried the 5th gear out of the esses and 4th gear out of the last corner early on (as per @Tidgney), but it seemed quicker in the lower gear in both cases for me. That said, my apex speeds are faster and more consistent now, so I may revisit. I can definitely see the benefit of 5th in the esses to remove the power-on understeer, and 4th out of the last corner would stop me hitting the rev limiter in 3rd (as I’ve done an infuriating number of times 😂)
