If you like oversteer try the Toyota 86... I had a session trying for a .53 but most of the lap was spent drifting, it just wasn't happening.

Now in the Merc, it's like driving on rails...

I have never put so much effort into a TT and felt so disappointed with gold as I did with this Monza challenge. I truly hope no one comes to challenge the top time today, as I'm dangerously close (little more than a hundredth) to being back in silver.

This car is just not rewarding to drive. Even getting into consistent 1:39s and 1:38.9s I was not having any fun. The braking points for this thing are so minute. The difference between braking too early and blowing the apex are thinner than a hair. Shifting from 2nd or 3rd up to 5th and 6th feels like anti-driving. After 30 or so laps I'm done. VR isn't doing me any favors here either.

I've gotten all gold in the TTs for months now, and am determined to not break the streak, but this one was a complete chore and was very much testing my patience.

Hopefully I don't have to get back in this damn thing again any time soon! All you aliens stay at Autopolis!

Tried the NSX on 10 laps at AP...

Not enthusiastic about the result.

Ranking of cars / lap times / nb of laps :
  • Alfa 155, with 1:56.119 and 1:56.294 (2x10 laps)
  • Citroën with 1:56.305 and 1:56.408 (2x10 laps)
  • McLaren 650S with 1:56.689 (10 laps)
  • NSX with 1:56.739 (10 laps)
  • Silvia with : 1:56.790 an 1:58.298 (first 2x10 laps)
  • Supra with 1:56.852 (10 laps)

No improvement anywhere 🤷‍♂️

Also I was in TC2 on the first laps, went down a notch, need to try the Alfa with less TC too, she handles gently.

Was kind of motivated to do 10 laps with the 458 next, but I made the mistake to open the daily workout ticket and it only motivated me to switch the console off  💩

Agreed, this one is SUPER frustrating. Definitely put more laps in on this one than any other TT in recent memory. Still sitting just outside Gold with a 1:38.945 and and optimal of 1:38.245, and this car is NOT easy to drive on controller.

I've tried almost every Gr.4 car at Autopolis and for some reason the fastest car for me is the Citroen GT, a car I'm not particularly fond of. Also the visibility in VR is the worst, but what you gonna do. In the 650S, SLS and Supra I was consistently over 3 tenths slower.

Managed to break into 1:52 today, so that'll do for now.

FINALLY back in, and this one had better last because my hands are killing me and getting close to the home stretch I've got nothing left to throw at this one. 😂

The last lap was definitely a banker as this session I couldn't break anything lower than a 1:39.1, then finally after I think 27 laps (on just this one stint) I strung together a clean lap.

You and me both. I'm 1.38.815 and hoping it sticks. If he has a flying lap under 36 in the next 7 hours, we're done for!

So,it's been a been a week for the record books,i ended up measuring over 5 feet of snow in my driveway with a bit of drifting.
I just got my car out today(been buried since Sunday),and the emblem on the trunk lid decided to stay stuck in the snow bank.

Now, as for the TT of Monza,i got knocked out by .022(1:38.921), been trying for days to improve and today i got a better time,1:38.920,a whole .001 jump,🤬,took a break,re-worked the paint job, came back and finally got decent time with 7 hours left(hope it holds!)

I think I'm done with Autopolis. I just can't eek out that 100th to get into silver. No time to be driving the cars that long. I did find out though that the Hyundai and the Citroen have good rotation. If I had time I'd work on these two for my silver. Oh well, let's bring on a new one tomorrow.

I have only had two short stints here but it's a good one. I'm going to get bored of it especially when it's pick the meta. I used the Supra for about the first time ever tonight and now I understand why people like that car. It's got a set of balls for this class. Trail braking accuracy buys so much time in this car for me. And man does it brake too! Fun car. Might stick with it for a couple sessions and see how far I care to go if I don't get bored.

I hate it when life gets in the way. Those couple weeks off were fantastic. I didn't have to drive just when I had a chance, but anytime I wanted... it's a lot harder to nail these things after working a long day than it is first thing in the morning. I know. Excuses. 😂

Looking forward to what comes tomorrow morning and getting rid of that garbage vacuum cleaner.

Sorry to rain on your parade (unless you're coming back in the final hours), dear statistics friend, @half_sourly! Still, very well done.

Frustrating but fun TT. I did enjoy myself in this one though, unlike the majority. Still some obvious time left on the table but I couldn't string it all together as I would've liked. That's properly frustrating. Obvious mistake examples being the lift in Curva Grande, the slide as I exit Ascari and the loss of control/slide through Parabolica.

Went back and forth between CSA off and on here, couldn't quite decide. The first chicane was a bit of a nightmare with CSA, much easier off. Della Roggia on the other hand was easier to go smoothly through with it on. The rest kinda indifferent.

Rewarding though how "easy" it was to place high up due to the difficulty of the car.

Not looking forward to the next one. Time trialling/hot lapping in Gr.4.

As a polar opposite those are incredibly frustrating and actually hard because they're easy.

So I've tried the Supra twice and the SLS, McLaren, and Citroen once. My thoughts so far: The SLS is quite stable and genuinely quick overall (best so far with it was the 53.964). I did a stint in the McLaren yesterday and found it also very stable, but I could not put down a "fast" time compared to the other cars. Lowish 54's were all I could muster. I hopped back in the Supra afterwards, assuming I would pick up on my SLS time. I got close but couldn't quite get there (53.98). I like tricky cars to drive (aside from the Genesis VGT I'm thankfully finished with), but in this particular case, I'm better with more neutral machines. I don't think I'm going to get back in the Supra. Tonight I decided to run with the Citroen. What a pleasant surprise! It handles nicely, though I still can't nail down the second hairpin. I either slide wide, understeer throughout the entire corner, or slow down too early and plod around the inside curb losing time. Anyway, it's the fastest car I've driven so far despite leaving a couple of tenths on the table. I'll be giving the SLS another go to see if I can improve in it. It was my best time until the plucky Citroen, and I feel I can squeeze more out of it.

I've got a decent time but was seriously annoyed two laps later where I was well up on my best through two sectors. But naturally, I struggled through the hairpin at the beginning of the final sector and completely blew the rest of the lap. :(

Nice job! Totally agree. Citroen is the fastest of the 3 or 4 cars I've tried so far, and you can really push it. And the visibility in VR is horrible!

I've managed my best time with it so far, 1:54.5xx. I think if I could overdrive just a little less I could possibly get down into the 1:53s, but that's a huge IF, and a sweet spot I have yet to find :)

(BTW, my grandparents were from Finland, emigrated to the U.S. in the early 20th century)

Improved again with the 458, I can even smell the 1:53 now 🤩. I think this is the highest I've ever placed on my friends leaderboard, although curiously it's still not good enough for top 1,000.

Realistically, I guess this is it. Also because I'll be away from my PS5 the whole next week, so I'll probably use the next few days to set a time on the new TT, which is ...

Looks like at least they're letting us use RS tires. First time I think I've seen that on a Gr.3 TT.

I've had a bit of practice here lately from the GTWS, but I'm going to get a safe Gold and move on.

Both current combos are somewhat boring to me. So it'll be a good time to get some more single player events finished.
