This new time trial can be a tad frustrating with that rear end! Highly recommend if you're struggling just keep it in 3rd and don't touch 2nd! Here's the guide for those interested, plenty of time left in my lap I can see a 1:50.8 with my best sectors.

It's always a pleasure to be able to mistreat an old German lady like that....
Great lap, great advices, great score!!

 Merci @Tidgney

Just barely got gold at autopolis, i think, haven't checked lol

I am awful at that track and not great with race cars. I am however looking forward to gr3 at Mt . Panorama, one of my favorite tracks so hopefully i can manage a decent time.

That new one looks like it's right ip my alley, so i am also looking forward to giving that one a try.

I haven't been here much recently, hope everyone is doing well in this crazy world

There's a bunch of sausage curbs that can unsettle the balance of the car meaning it's a risk. I wonder where they got the name of the track, there are no dragon's around, xP. I'm curious, I tried doing research about it a week ago but couldn't find anything relative and explaining it. I gotta think of a master plan trying to control the beloved Mercedes car on a semi-long track with sausage curbs galore!

Hmmm.....not Mount Doom hard but not a walk in the park either. Did 15-ish laps to get used to the track....havn't chase Tidg's ghost yet. This is going to be fun :dunce:

@half_sourly always interesting to see the breakdown of which cars are being used for these types of time trials.

I'm surprised that there were as many McLaren F1 GTR's used, but not surprised that it was ranked so low on the average lap. I checked a couple days ago and the quickest logged time I found was a 2:01.0xx, I think.

The only reason I used it was because I had just bought it from the LCD. But my barely Gold time must be one of the quicker examples. I wouldn't know how to go about checking for myself in an efficient manner.

Yes, Dragon Trail should be a blast to race at especially in a road car. Sigh, I did not get gold at AP which I already knew I probably wouldn't considering the time I had left and all the players that got gold fairly quickly. Now I golded all the sectors and the lap at DT-Gardens so I'm reasonably a good driver there.

Wow, it's gonna be sweet driving in a classic Mercedes car!! Looking forward to the next 2 weeks! I failed the AP course. I've got to gwt my third gold this time, I mean it. Here was my last lap at AP with the MT that I recorded on Monday evening, after 455 laps I still could not find the secret move!!

The sound is up full blast this time, dang. These cars have loud engines, some sound like mufflers, xD.I've never seen the beat in my life, god what a workout the past 3 days, I am just shocked, i kept messing up turn 1, my exit lines were poor, I always clocked S1 at 0'22.001-0'22.536.

No matter how hard I tried I could not get to the hairpin in under 1 minute, I wish I could have found that extra speed somewhere. I'm kind of burned out on that last one, I may not get to the new TT until this weekend. I just don;t understand, I am not getting the wheel because I'd be sweating bullets trying to manage the MT there, there's no freaking way I'd attempt that extra stress on my body.

So, what you do all think of that? Honestly I wasn't impressed by it, I was hoping to get in the mid 55's.

As the fellow GTP member said, I am a controller user too.

My 2 cents, if I may.

1 - While learning to drive MT, ignore the suggested gear. I see many times in your replay you drop to the suggested gear, when you could stay 1 gear up and get faster. T1 and the right hander after the back straight were examples of that.

2 - Time your downshifts. Especially in race cars you can downshift faster than what you did in your replay. Engine braking is a valuable trick to slow down the car.

3 - look, I'm not the fastest and also English is not my first language but I hope what I'm gonna say now makes sense. When you approach a turn, there are a series of movements/commands you gotta do with your car/controler. Like, break, downshift, turn, throtlle. In my mind, I try to knit these things as tight as possible BUT also as smooth as possible. Example: when you turn, try to use as little movement from/on your controller as possible. That's smooth. Try to get the car on the right position to exit the apex applying the minimal input. Again, smooth. Downshift the car and pay attention to the sound of the revs. You can tell by what you hear how smooth you are, and also of course if the balance of the car remains cool.

Be a smooth operator. But be fast too.

Edit: corrected some typos.

The highest place F1 is 1506th with a time of 2:00.797. Your time of 2:01.709 makes you the 7th fastest in that car

The results for TT64 at Autopolis International Racing Course in Gr.4 are over here.

I've also updated the opening post with the index of TTs and the second post with the community leader boards.

Interim Results for TT65 at Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit in Gr.3.

That's cool that you keep up a leader board. Maybe it'll give me some motivation to try harder and git gud!

And using a wheel.

How do you keep track of everyone's times though? Do you have to go through the thread or can you see it in the person's profile somewhere?

I'll add you in from next week. I get the data from the results pages (like this one) using some coding magic created by @crome. Then I do some Excel fiddling to create the stuff you see.

Crazy to see how much faster the Genesis X is over the McLaren 650S (1.5s!) versus the McLaren over the AMG GT3 '20 (0.02s!). Is it just that the Genesis X was the favoured car by such a margin or because it's genuinely that much faster on average? Out of interest, where did the top-finishing 650S and AMG GT3 finish in the global rankings?

I suspect it is was a self-fulfilling prophecy with the Genesis X having a slight margin, thus used by quick players, thus bringing down its average time, while slow/ casual players just pick their favourite car (likely not the Genesis X), meaning the X does not suffer too much from slower players using it.

First McLaren 650 S at that time was 11th; first AMG 49th.
