Well, I guess there was a minor improvement today, albeit just under .020 seconds. Of course, it would have been much better, but I accidentally bounced off the 2nd gear rev limiter after the final turn coming to the line. I had to have lost at least half a tenth if not more from that mistake. :banghead: Funny also that I ran a sub 20 sector 1 on my FIRST lap, then never got that low again. I should be happy with a gain today, but somehow messing up on the STRAIGHTAWAY of all places on my fast lap is seriously frustrating.

Spent some more time at Fuji...managed to peel a couple tenths off. Down to 1:34.774 now. I think the silver is pretty much locked down, but I just can't believe that's more than a full second off gold. FOUR SECONDS off the top time! Just crazy.

What's everyone running the TC at? I'm a stubborn ass and have been doing it without any TC at all but I may give in and turn it on...

No TC here but I might be faster w/ it on 1. Was thinking maybe to try it off until final sector, and then flicking it on. 🤷‍♂️ Or maybe just for certain corners.

One more round at Fuji.... And man.... That's going to be a hard fought gold reward.

Another little push. From 33:612 down to 33:558.

Today I downloaded Tidgney's ghost. And what a difference that made. Never had I used a top player ghost in a TT, and I regret not doing it before.

Edit: best lap shared. I welcome any inputs and advices you guys could share.

So another day where I'm getting up very early.
Coffee reading GTP forum, tea and pills and - GT7 TT!
I saw that @skydragon49 overtook me again and I'm glad for it, it means he's closer to shiny medal...

My stint began very good, not many restarts and nice times after delta 2 - before sector 3.

And then it came, I have connected one whole lap, that was most shiny, it was gold one!

1:33.239!

Here is lap:

I shared it, tags are "vekig", "fuji" and "gold".

That ok time puts me only on 15th place on my leaderboard.

What to say, I'm happy and hope so that this 0.250s gap will hold gold...

Yesterday's TT playtime was supposed to be short. Did 320km's in around 1.5h, first 50min stint got me so close to gold that I had to get going. I like the optimal on this screenshot but It's gonna be a tough one to get.

Couple of minutes of pause. Grab a cold one. And back on track. That was my leaderboard when I finished yesterday and before @zaxs did his time today :)

I have quickly switched from liking to hating of this time trial combo. My lap time was done with TCS on 1, and contrary to what I read couple of pages before in this thread I feel like TCS is making me slower in S3. Gonna try some runs without (there is no way that while I'm putting my best efforts to get a good lap I will be able to switch it on and off. On wheel, with vr on head :) ) Lots of invalidated laps for hitting bollards, even though I'm driving in vr I still can't feel where the left edge of the car is - try to guess which bollard I'm hitting the most :) ). I don't feel this is a safe gold spot, as the top time only needs to be improved by 0.16s to kick me back into silver where apparently I belong in this one :P

I made it into the 1:32s, but it was a hard piece of work 😰

Safe gold, which is great. However, the top 1,000 that I've been able to reach the last couple of TTs is still half a second away, and at the moment I have no clue how to close the gap. Sector 3 still feels like I'm driving around on a parking lot, I just have no reference points to work with, especially in the last corner.

Yeah, same. I usually have no problem with right-hand drive cars, but with this I often go over the left curb before the first turn, and the bollard at Coca Cola (did I guess right?) I have run over so many times that I wonder why they even bother to put it back every single time ;)

Still thrilled that PD has finally introduced the GT-One to GT7! Wish this TT is at Suzuka or Le Mans instead of Fuji...what a hideous 3rd sector on this track - I know it was done to introduce overtaking (Which works for SuperGT series) as well as hosting F1 but I have always preferred the pre-F1 old layout. Or the even older layout with the banked final corner.

Really wanted to get into the 31's but getting below 1:32.5 was already hard work! I found no consistancy in 3rd sector and I may have taken 60 different lines over the same amount of laps that I did  As usual, any suggestion are welcomed.

Should add I have always preferred the 1998 livery than the 99 one.

@skydragon49 you are so close to gold so I am sure you can make it, you only need to improve one turn exit and you have gold. I have posted video recently "how to get faster by comparing two video replays" and I strongly believe if you watch it and do as shown in that video, you are getting gold. If you have difficulty scrolling back to find it, click on the link in my signature and it will show up.
Good luck you got this champion!!!

Edit* this advice is of course valid for anyone who wonders where to gain some time, watching two replays at same time shows it so obvious

I know right, the frustration is real on this one.... it takes me a freaking hour to even get into that "few laps of fire" window.... but to deliver then.... pfff....

I'll give you an example....
I have this every session.... first few laps I think this is easy going to be a best session...but then after a few laps I forget or get to crampy and scared of spinning or something....,
One last session tomorrow then I'm throwing in the towel and hop on the new one 🤪🤣

Check lap 1 and 2 🤣

I know you didn't post looking for tips and that unsolicited advice is never advice, but I just wanted to offer that your lap is so damn smooth. If you used just a bit more track on entry and exit, I see an easy half second of time without really changing much other than going just a little deeper and using more of the track. Very very tight lap you had there. I may be faster but you are significantly more precise. Beautiful work there. 👍👍👍

@330_D thanks on kind words! I only looked WR lap as some reference, but it is mostly lines how was going fastest by myself...
I know I can get more, but it's difficult to put it in full lap.
This combo isn't easiest to get gold - and I'm still not safe...

I do that all the time. There are certain turns that can be rough, especially when curbs are involved. So I'll flip TC on just for that spot and turn it back off afterwards.

TC 0 here. But I did wean myself from default TC 3 to TC 1 and switched to TC 0 after a few months of playing. I leave it off now, even if it could possibly improve my times. I view it more as an opportunity to improve my skills if I'm struggling with a particular combo.

I was driving with tcs1 for most of my time in game. I started to drive with tcs0 a few months ago, only switching to 1 (or any assists apart from abs) as a last resort when controlling a car out of a corner becomes more frustrating than fun.

TCS 0. Just like my patience with Fuji.... 😂

Thanks mate! Congratz on your gold time! I hope I can get to the other side of the 3% too. 😃

Thanks my friend for your reply! Back in the day when you first posted that video you mentioned I watched it. Sure I'll revisit it. 😎
