That Sucks The Office GIF

Not sure if I'm missing sarcasm, but in case it is a serious question, it could be asked of any of us without a replay. The answer is that we trust the game to invalidate laps where people 'cheat'. If the game allows a time to be registered, it is not cheating.
yeah I mean at this point I think it's safe to assume most of the aliens aren't relying on cheating to do what they do. For myself, any replay that's in the top couple hundred will suit my purposes just fine lol...

Why do people sometimes hide their replays when they're at the top of the rankings?
I don't love that they aren't shared, however, I've been (as have many many many many others in this thread) in the top 50 and the top 100 a few times. I'm pretty fast sometimes. I've never been even close to striking distance with or without the replay and or ghost. Some of those top times come from literal hundreds and hundreds of laps. That's a time commitment very few have. Even if you could see their replay, being able to translate that to a time in the TT is a whole other nut to crack.

There is a reason they are called aliens.

To be fair (and I am sure this is not what you're implying), it is not only the time commitment that separates us mere mortals from them. At least not if you're only considering the time spent in the events themselves, not the training necessary to get to that level. Just look at Tidgney casually doing a few laps on Thursday morning, having a video ready by noon and ending up in the top 20 more often than not ...

Ain't that the truth! Some just have the gift, others don't but do superbly with effort.

Had the day of and wasnt realy feeling like pushing but in the end of the day the wife had to go to fysiotherapy so beeped up the thing to do some Suzuka slides after all,
Very surprised I was almost immediately consistent in the high .1xx with occassionaly a 1:00.080 and 090....
Finally after some laps it did click on me and had 3 very descent sectors in the little basterd 😁🥳🥳

This should stick as a top 100 right 😁😁
Finally a sub 1:01 with a 1:00.906 🤪🤪

To bad I accepted @Ed_Night back then 🤣🤣🤣

Uploaded the lap under Suzukamx if anyone wants to follow as a ghost .

Ghost in front of me is @Metalgear9493 at 0.3 offset 🙏, thanks again mate,
Definitely wasnt possible without you fast replay guys 👌👍

I'm happy 😁🤪🤣

I might have been a bit facetious, but it is not an unreasonable question either. There have been times in the past where someone has found a "shortcut" or advantage that does not trigger a penalty, only to be patched by PD later on.

Well done mate. 😁💪

I wouldn't be able to drive a single corner with a ghost right in front of me. 😂

I suggest yuhki's ghost now, if you can follow him through S2 you are going to make a Top10. 😬

Because these are the world's best drivers and they are hiding their lines/strategy going into this weekend's races.

Personally I hate it and think anyone that does not have a saved replay be eliminated from the leaderboard. Like, how do we know they are not cheating?

I liked it when, for a couple weeks, everyones replay was available, regardless of where you ended up.
To be fair when I posted that I had only seen the MX-5 list, I hadn't started the X2019 and realised you have to go into the 30s to find a video

I know people did this in GT Sport when it was Blue Moon Bay and they could wallride, but now I really don't see the value in it.

As mentioned already, it’s way more than usual because that X2019 combo is getting used in the GTWS Tokyo live event this weekend. Usually it’s just a handful few people hiding but this one’s different. I don’t like it but I get it.

Hi,

You folks have made some interesting points in the last few posts. I, personally, am astounded by the level of precision displayed on all of the Time Trials, by all of the top participants!!! I also find that it follows the rule of diminishing returns...

I can, usually, get a silver time inside just a few laps. Following a ghost and some practice will get me near a gold time. Some more practice and some deep concentration will get me a gold time. I usually stop at that due to time restrictions, a wife who requires me to do a job that I promised to do 6 months ago ( Stop nagging woman!!!!! ) or 2 dogs that need to go for a walk! Just occasionally, there is a TT which I am more than average at - Daytona in the NSX and, more recently, the Corvette at Dragon Trail - Despite my inability to negotiate the Chicane of Death, Doom and Despair. I will push hard to get a better time and beat some of you lot! - No names, no pack drill! :)

Having gotten inside the 3% mark quickly, inspires me to spend more time and aim for the 2% mark. I would love to be able to spend more time at this but life is busy here. A case in point here - Suzuka. The ranking stands me at 1:67% - I know where that extra time is for me. I just don't have the time available to shave more off. It is what is.

A point was raised about being able to see everyone's lap and allow that lap to be chased with a ghost. I really quite like that. A very useful way of improving your own lap times by learning, shaving time and honing skill. I have no idea how much computing power or effort that took on PD's part but I would love to see it more often.

Off on holidays in a couple of days so I won't get chance to try the Watkins Glen Trial. That is a shame because I feel that would have been another, very enjoyable, gold for me.

Very best regards to all here.

Ian.

To be honest, before I came back to the forum and this thread (and added a few of you to my friends list) I would hammer a TT until I got Gold, sometimes that's 15 laps, others 500 :D I'd then leave it and only come back if it dropped into silver, and sometimes not even then (like the recent Porsche @ Nordschliefe one where I love the car and track but was not going to kill myself trying to get Gold)

My dragon trail gold is at jeopardy but today I didn't care. I have put myself ona mission to get into 1:27 with redbull at gv, which I did. After 150kms or so I decided that it is time to finish as my times got worse. Did mange to get into 1:27.8xx with optimals at around .3 I think gold is achievable for me but may have no time for it. New tt tomorrow so I want to do that, and literally no will to play gt7 "competitively" last couple of days due to some rl issues.

Good news! The Dacia Sande... No, not that :D

I pushed myself to try the Vette for one last time tonight, to somehow put together a 53s lap, and guess what?

I can't remember the last time I restarted one TT this many times, usually right after the first chicane. This lap was THE lap, looking back to it, of course some corners could have been better, S2 was average, I was quite careful over the lottery curbs because I finally nailed the 38.0 S1, and after that, my split was 1:14.5, which was by far my personal best. And the COD was taken on my toes, just to somehow go through without crashing, but all in all, I'm delighted to finally do it.

And yes, with a P55 in the world, you would have thought that I'm on the top of my friends list, but nooo, freaking aliens everywhere

The lap:

That's it from me for this TT, can't wait for the Alfa tomorrow :)

Went back to GV in the RB car because I no longer believed my 27.1 to be safe. Did a 26.659 which is currently 195th in the world at 2.34% back from P1. Just goes to show the disparity between the cyborg aliens and the rest of us in this car... no way should 2.34% be within the top 200. That's crazy.

I will try to secure gold with the Miata and spend the other seating time with the Red Bull machine. Silver should be reachable...

Have a good time everyone! See you on sunday... 😉
Had a session full of hard work with the Miata today and think my yellow medal IS secured. After that I gave the Red Bull thing 10 laps and improved a lot.

Maybe I will come back to Grand Valley but for now I achieved my goals and look forward for the Alfa... Special thanks to @Gogga who suggested some weeks ago to use the harder springs of the V3 pedals. Finally I did it yesterday and the good results today may became possible because of this.

Took a while to get used to the Corvette and to actually gold DT. Considerably lowered my pace to mid 1:55s now and in this last stint's 10th lap everything fell into place. Unfortunately, I got a bit nervous at the second to last corner and for whatever reason upshifted to 5th before braking and ran wide, losing a good 2/10. Will give it one or two more stints and see if I can run that perfect line again without fudging up at the end :D A 54 would be sweet.

Suzuka, on the other hand, was fairly easy to gold with pad so I ran some laps with wheel. Came just 1/10 short when I managed to not loose traction in T1. Definitely too slide for my current skillset and maybe a good practice environment.

And Grand Valley... I don't even know why I lured myself into this. Not great at Grand Valley. Not fast with the Red Bull. Did around 10 laps to feel out the track and my pace and squeezing out another whole second will definitely be a challenge.

Firstly, such a sick lap! 🍻🍻

Secondly, I need VR.

Thirdly, I know this because the end of that lap over the line was the best part.

Nice work man.

Eventually snuck just inside gold at gv, got a 1.26 in there somewhere but can't be bothered to dig it out. For me (never had the game on auto before, rarely tcs on), auto and tcs 3 let me keep my focus on the line which is critical.

Gold is now nearly a second ahead of tidgneys estimate, his lap only qualifies for gold by .8 seconds now. Crazy.

I’m back! A week has passed since I got rid of the cast on the arm. Far from fully recovered but I’m noticing small improvements in my movements almost on a daily basis. Thought I’d give the C4 Seaside TT another try as the 54.8 I was sitting on was from the 16th of Sep, driven with the cast on and wasn’t much to speak of. Happy to report I found the speed pretty quickly in this one.

38.0 at S1, 1’14.5 at S2 split. Iffy passage through the esses where I lost at least a tenth I think but apart from that it felt pretty solid!

I set my 1:54.1 over a week ago and figured I would be able to get into the 53's considering my splits. Fast forward several hundred miles later (including a two hour stint tonight) and no improvement. Then I see you casually plop in this time coming back from injury. Happy for you? Sure, but mostly this --> :grumpy::grumpy::grumpy:

That's where I lost my time in S2, I had a really good turn 1 but mistimed the next left-right. Great job with the 801 Mr Night.

I begin to wonder about where our next TT will take place. I hope it's not Tokyo, St. Croix or the Nordschleife. Another bronze will be earned at Seaside for me as usual. I didn't have enough patience and willpower to make it in the 1'57.000's. And I was close to silver too. My time is 1'58.293. I just don't like the C.O.D. It sucks... the truth hurts. Whoever designed this track sucks too, should have never put that evil chicane there. What it is, is a lap destroyer to many drivers who play this game on a daily basis. Good bye Dragon Trail and good riddance. The Seaside part of it, I like the scenery and audience but some Sectors are tricky to control my balance and throttle on.

Thanks 😁 it always takes me quite some time to string a lap together.
It's impressive to see that you and other super Aliens getting those times on day one. 💪

Yes i saw that you got a bit to much oversteer going into the righthander.
For me this turn is the hardest part to get right, you need to carry speed through there, but still getting a tight exit to have the right line for the rest of the lap.

I have seen a sub 43 S2 once but messed it up. So frustrating that a great S2 never comes when S1 is in the 25,1 range. 🥲😂
