My lap. I think the PS5 Pro makes me faster :D

I can't remember which aliens they are but there on some on this very forum that do use those setups, it amazes me how they can drive like that, especially with D-pad for steering
Actually when I played GT6 back in the day, I used the X for throttle and Square for braking... and that was the setup I used throughout my entire playthrough.

The X button (and Square as well) are pressure-sensitive buttons, so that means you can actually use them pretty much in the same way as those trigger buttons like R2/L2, but the later are infinitely easier to control.

It's much easier to "press" the throttle at let's say 20% with the R2 trigger than using the X button... it's fine if you're driving a Civic for example, but if you're driving a GT40 on Racing Hards you might want to have some more control over your throttle!

As for the steering with the D-pad, it just baffles me how can someone be fast with it!
It's just as weird as using a keyboard to play a racing game, it has to be so unnatural!
But there might be some advantages to that setup, because since you can't really get "half" steering when pressing Left or Right (you either get 0% or 100% steering input as those buttons are not pressure-sensitive), that means you might get a much faster turn in.

I'm reasonably sure this is no longer the case since the PS4. It was an extremely rarely used feature and there was no reason to keep it.

Managed half a second improvement from my previous PB and into the 26's which I'm still not too satisfied with because after looking at my past split times from my failed attempts, I can definitely break into the 25 zone. I just need to nail it all in one lap which is easier said than done but it is possible.

I found over half a second over my previous time, but now I’m beginning to seriously struggle. Chasing the ghosts, I know where I’m losing lots of time, but I’ve no idea how to gain it.

I’m running with brakes weak and no other aids. Coming out of corners is my challenge. I don’t know how to get the best pull.

I’ve tried 2nd at 50-75% then short shifting up to 3rd. I’ve tried double shifting straight into 3rd and pulling from low revs. None of which seems to be advantageous over the other.

I’m done over 500km trying to figure this out. What’s the trick?

One thing that could find you a decent amount of time is wringing the car out completely before shifting. Figure out what speed the car hit the rev limiter and shift basically at that point.

I found 3rd to be the right gear for the chicanes on the long straight and the one before the Dunlop bridge. I use 2nd for the slow right angle turns, Indianapolis and the final chicane. 3rd for Indianapolis is also fine, but I found it roughly 0.2-0.3s faster to go with 2nd, as the car seems to grip reasonable well there for some reason.

Try to experiment with sacrificing some entry speed for a better exit. There's a lot more time to gain there, especially for turns that are followed by a long straight.

I managed to knock my time down to 3:27.5, which I'm quite shocked about, but I really just enjoyed finding time here and there. 1.8s safe at the moment, I reckon that should stick. The aliens are starting have a hard time improving.

I've found variation in how well I pull away from slow corners based on apex speed. I know that is a " no s... Sherlock" statement but because I exit many in 3rd, copying Chafe, it is initially low in the revs and in the Nissan having just slightly more apex speed and therefore being slightly higher in revs can make a big difference in how well you exit. I focused on not over braking; started braking earlier and coast to and through the apex.

Secondly with the exits in third you can get onto throttle quicker than you think. See the video of Chafe I posted earlier.n

And as @JC_Dude said, timely shifts. For the Nissan the sweet spot seems to be in mph 105, 150 and 194. For the last two be careful because one mph more and you run into the limiter.

Ha. In cockpit there is no speed gauge! But the rev counter is very good and you can time the shifts with precision (if your reflexes are good enough - mine not always).

I’m tending to favor 3rd gear for pulling out of tight corners more and more and I have found coasting helps a lot.

I’ve still a natural tendency to over brake though so I definitely have to work on that.

I feel that with this one, one poor corner is all it takes to lose a second on the lap….

I’m definitely going to work this TT. IM really loving driving the Nissan even though I’m not in gold yet.

Morning folks!

Had a fairly big pre sunday morning breakfast session in the Nissan.
Got more familiar with the turbolag and got faster in the first 2 sectors with a fastest split of 1:04.9×× but scraped the wall on the Porsche curves and never came close to that first part 😡 but got reasonably consistent in the 1:05.2 and .3 's.
The main problem for me remains getting the traction out of the two slower turns, I either am to fast, but now I more often to slow with flooring it, I know the way, my brain just doesn't cope with it 🤣
But made some progression this morning, altho I stuffed up some significant better laps, so as hard as I said a 27 wasn't possible for me...... OPT splis say a 26 must be.....but that probably ain't happening 🤣🤣
But you were right @half_sourly It was 27 before Monday 🤣🤣, thanks for the encouragement 😁

Into the 27's with some margin 😁

The need for licking tracklimits here is insane, maximize entry angles to get advantage of greater exits and win some time back on the straight like mr stats pointed out, is indeed the way.

So still some errors in this lap clearly, but sticking it all together seems harder to me here than anywhere else..but happy with this mornings progression 🤪

I’m not positive on the corner name, I think it’s entering ‘Indianapolis’, but I want to throw my controller through my TV every lap at the track limits there as you turn right blindly after the straight. I don’t mind the track limits elsewhere half as much, but this is absolutely infuriating! I think I can do low :30, but I don’t see myself figuring out how to shave off another three quarters of a second or so after that to get into gold territory. Will post my lap if I ever manage to complete it.

Also thanks to those who’ve added me, will be nice to see other names on that friends leaderboard than just myself 😂

After narrowly getting gold on the snow rally stage by +2.99%, I've spent far longer than i care to admit to once again edge this out with a 3:29.202 (+2.94%). Praying the aliens cant find more than a tenth from here 🙏View attachment 1404172
With only 4 days in, I think it's save to say that the top split will definitely find extra time, I would go again if I were you 😁😁
Great job on the gold though!

Hi mate. When I joined this TT thread I was reaching P 20 000 as best. Got very useful advices from skilled people here during TTs and trying to put those advices in practice made me reach much better times. My first (valid) lap on current Gr. 1 TT I reached P120something and I think I am P150-ish currently, with still almost a second to improve if I get time to put some effort and nail all sectors in one and same lap. What I want to say, this thread is THE best coach/advisor/community you can get to improve in TTs. If you want I will gladly look into your lap and give advices how to get faster times. We can start by improving Mulsanne straight first if you want, a lot of time to gain/lose there.
If you want, share your replay in game and I will take a look. You are on manual gearbox right?
Yeah ,im on manual for a good few months now🙂

That driver must have a left arm the size of a tree 😯 😂
I had to run my FFB down but yes it’s still quite the workout holding the wheel straight on the Mulsanne straight. 💪

I agree it in one of the more infuriating parts. Many a lap invalidated there. I’m now taking that corner wide so I’m losing time there.

Put together a lap but it’s still messy at the chicanes especially. I’m wildly inconsistent so that’s uh, fun. 🫠

Gold is .3 off 🥲

If I may comment... Your lap is very solid lap, your throttle control is also very good, if you are driving like that, and you obviously are, you really don't need TC1 at all honestly.
You can find your 0.3 on Mulsanne, (you can find almost a second but let's put you into gold) so after first split, switch up to fourth at the first right hand apex and floor it from there. You are taking both Mulsanne chicanes very good and with your good throttle control you can go on gas earlier than you do in those two chicanes currently and with going on throttle both earlier and more of it, you will gain you for sure between half a second and 9 tenth over whole Mulsanne.
You got this champ! Go for it, keep us posted.

So its a massive loss of time on the straights then
Correct, but it has a more downforce as a function of the ground effects from this era of car, so is very good through the Porsche curves to Maison Blanche. I was carrying nearly 140mph through Karting and was able to overtake the Nissan ghost (drivers time was circa 150th in the world) I was following. While it’s slower down the straight, more speed can be carried through Tetre Rouge so the ghost didn’t overtake me until halfway to the first chicane.

Like @Barareklam mentioned already, very steady lap so im positive we will get you there 😁
Indeed try to loose the TCS, that holds you back quite a bit, but.... does take a while to know your limits then, not always the easiest on high powered turbo cars with some lag, but definitely faster!
You can use some more engine braking on indianapolis, you lost a fair amount of time there by overshooting it,
I would change gear faster there so you have enough engine brake on 2nd gear

The going to 4th after split 1 is key indeed and will net you a lot of time down the straight,

Start of the Porsche curves I stay in 3th and go to 4th after the first curve, feels more steady to me but maby preference

But, not a bad lap at all, keep hammering, you'll get there 😁😁

Should be safe for gold, but since the #1 time is less than a tenth from the 22's I expect that there will be a couple of otherworldly types trying to get into the 22's. As of this point in time there are under 1100 in gold, so I expect there will be some push there as well. I mention this because I don't know if this time is safe for a top 1000 or not. I really don't have the concentration for more than a couple laps at a time, so the thought of having to push harder to keep my top 1000 streak alive is not a pleasant one.

Hey folks,

The other day I bragged over at the results thread that I nowadays typically get into gold within the first 20 to 30 minutes of a new TT, so it came as it had to come: Karma gave me a lesson in humility 😉 and I finished my first Le Mans Sessiom on Thursday deep in silver land at 3:32.226. Didn‘t even feel all that slow tbh. But this is definitely a tough one.

I had no time to play over the weekend, but grew increasingly anxious as I watched the WR improve time and time again. I knew I had a mountain to climb.

Luckily today‘s session went far better, especially in the last two sectors I found tons of time.

I am 7 tenths into gold, I hope this is safe now. There were enough mistakes in the lap for a 3:27, but before I try that I have three more days to find exactly one thousandth of a second in the Viper to get into 2:00 😁

Happy lapping!
