Hey folks,

The other day I bragged over at the results thread that I nowadays typically get into gold within the first 20 to 30 minutes of a new TT, so it came as it had to come: Karma gave me a lesson in humility 😉 and I finished my first Le Mans Sessiom on Thursday deep in silver land at 3:32.226. Didn‘t even feel all that slow tbh. But this is definitely a tough one.

I had no time to play over the weekend, but grew increasingly anxious as I watched the WR improve time and time again. I knew I had a mountain to climb.

Luckily today‘s session went far better, especially in the last two sectors I found tons of time.

I am 7 tenths into gold, I hope this is safe now. There were enough mistakes in the lap for a 3:27, but before I try that I have three more days to find exactly one thousandth of a second in the Viper to get into 2:00 😁

Great progress crome! I'm hoping to be back soon and join in on the action. It was good news to my ears when Famine told me that even though I don't have PS Plus now, I can still enter time trial events. It's a shame I can't enjoy grinding at Le Mans. Well good luck to whoever can enter and have a blast with this event. How long have you been racing at Le Mans? I first started in early 2022 in GT Sport.

Pressing on with the Porsche… new livery time (there are SO many historical liveries to work through with this car) and 45 mins this evening before family movie night. Feel like I’m thrashing this hard just to cling onto gold but I’m getting quicker each session. Milestone for this evening (other than finding a quarter of a second) was ducking under 31 seconds in the first sector. So many make or break corners around here… so much fun!

The LeMans TT is kicking my ass pretty bad. I've put in a bunch of time and effort and still almost a tenth out of silver! Man, I thought my days of struggling to get in the silver zone were over. I really hate the track to be honest. I've done lots of laps (in the current TT and in previous events) and still it just never feels like I have a handle on it. It never feels familiar to me for some reason. And the inconsistent track limits are incredibly annoying!

Curb and track limits have been killing me today; trying to find time.

I got frustrated and switched to TCS 2. I then went gorilla mode on the throttle coming out of corners. You know what? I knocked my time down to 3:30.014.

After a few laps of that I reduced TCS to 1 and went less gorilla but still aggressive.

I then got a 3:28.6 but it got INVALIDATED!!! by a few pixels at Virage Corvette. Ahhhggg!!! :banghead:

After that I felt defeated and it was late but, knowing I had the potential I did a few more laps and found the time to get into the 3:29s.

If I may comment... Your lap is very solid lap, your throttle control is also very good, if you are driving like that, and you obviously are, you really don't need TC1 at all honestly.
You can find your 0.3 on Mulsanne, (you can find almost a second but let's put you into gold) so after first split, switch up to fourth at the first right hand apex and floor it from there. You are taking both Mulsanne chicanes very good and with your good throttle control you can go on gas earlier than you do in those two chicanes currently and with going on throttle both earlier and more of it, you will gain you for sure between half a second and 9 tenth over whole Mulsanne.

I'm glad someone is confident in my throttle control, 'cos I don't think I am 😄 I gave switching to TCS0 a try, and was able at least keep it on-track most of the time, which was a little surprising 😅 Started switching to 4th immediately for the start of the straight too, but doesn't really feel better, likely just because whatever ghost I magically managed to get and am chasing was probably a lucky one. I feel inconsistent with the chicanes and am trying to be cognizant to get on the throttle a little earlier, but getting the rotation is hard for me on the first chicane and the second chicane is a complete toss-up for me on how it goes, I don't have the 'get' that one at all I think.

Indeed try to loose the TCS, that holds you back quite a bit, but.... does take a while to know your limits then, not always the easiest on high powered turbo cars with some lag, but definitely faster!
You can use some more engine braking on indianapolis, you lost a fair amount of time there by overshooting it,
I would change gear faster there so you have enough engine brake on 2nd gear

The going to 4th after split 1 is key indeed and will net you a lot of time down the straight,

Start of the Porsche curves I stay in 3th and go to 4th after the first curve, feels more steady to me but maby preference

But, not a bad lap at all, keep hammering, you'll get there 😁😁

Is TCS that much of a boon when using it? I always kind of pictured that the TCS could help you throw the car a little more, and I've always been scared of constantly constantly feeling like I'm on a knife-edge and about to spin out the moment my throttle control goes wack.

I'm ****-scared of that turn into Indianapolis, and it was definitely one of the worst on that lap. I can be better on many laps there, but I've not figured out the timing for braking and turning and all there. Will definitely be able to eek out time on that corner.

Exposing myself as the scrub I am too but truth be told I don't reeeeally know what you mean by the engine braking comment, in what to do and how that affects the car. Like, I know conceptually that downshifting slows down the car too I guess, but I'm a bit smoothbrained.

Which ones are actually the Porsche curves? I'm frantically googling every time people mention corner names, but is the first part of those curves the right at the straight, then the two lefts? Does that section go beyond that?

Thanks so much to both of you for the feedback btw. I'm confident I can knock a few tenths off if I'm able to luck everything together by throwing enough time at the wall, but I'm def not positive about getting in to gold 😂

This community we have here is gladly to help anyone get faster, and trust me it helps, been there, done that.
A combination between nice people and our own community timetrial leaderboard makes it a very competitive game :lol:
So don't hesitate calling for help or tips!

The TCS discussion is always there ofcours, and there are lots of guys that are fast with it on but i\ll give you my honest oppinion cause i started out with TCS in the early days and switched to 0 a long time ago, and almost all cars are drivable on 0, even the VGT monster at Monza we had a while back, and it kind of doesn't get any more difficult than that one without :lol:

But the main issue i have with TCS on is the behaviour of the car and it's power delivery, you sort of never feel the limit of the car, and that's key to getting faster if you ask me.

Teh engine braking, indeed slowing the car down while braking + changing gears will slow you down even faster, in your lap you for example on Indianapolis you stay quite long in 4th and are not realy done with your setup for the left hander because your comming in to hot, so son't be afraid to put it in second and hit the limiter sometimes, it will slow you down faster and you have a little more time to setup your rotation for the left hander.
And if you have trouble on the entry of Indianapolis you can lift early on the straight and be less agressive to the inside, a better exit there out of the lefthander ( in third ) is far more important than the entry.

Virage Porsche, I always call it Porsche curves but maby it isn't called that way ( anymore )? :lol::lol:

To balance what @Gomario JSP said a bit with a different perspective: using TCS is totally fine if you ask me (as long as you don't go overboard with TCS 5). You might not set a world record with it activated, but you can absolutely get into the top 1 % of drivers or even higher. I had my best ever rank (#88) with TCS 2 (I think) in the Gr. 3 event at RBR in the rain. Consistency and confidence trumps top speed in my book, and TCS definitely helps me be more consistent and confident (in some cars).

It seems lots of people are having trouble with the track limits entering Indianapolis. The way that I solved it was with the following mindset. I need to be very far to the right for the middle left hand turn (between Indianapolis and Arnage). To get far enough to the right I need open up the entry to Indianapolis. I open the entry up by getting the right tires of the car on the white line on the left side of the straight before the turn. As I turn I maintain the right tires of the car on the curbing and stay on that line for the left hand turn. This allows me to brake straighter, open up the left hand turn and stay inside the track limits. The problem always seemed to me to be caused by not being far enough left on the initial entry and not turning sharply enough. HTH. Now to find a way to fix the overbraking in sectors 1 and 7. :D

as @crome already stated, it is of course totally fine to use TCS or any assists you need, I just thought you already have good control of throttle so you do not need it, so if you keep it, then just floor it much earlier, or if you want, with your driving style to try, turn TC off and turn on Counter Steering Assistance to Strong, and then again, start accelerating earlier than you do today, CSA will help you a bit if you start losing car on exits, try that, I believe it might get you in gold zone by just dropping time over Mulsanne straight.

Regarding switching up to fourth after S1 split on Tethre Rouge corner, I know it does not "feel" faster since you switched to a higher gear, so car engine does not sound so much in high revs right after the corner, but you will gain 1-2 tenth just by going to 4th there, and you only need 3. Scroll back few posts where @half_sourly shared lap of Chafe on YouTube and read what he says to switch there to 4th, useful tips as always from our master of statistics of TTs.

I want to buy a 32 inch curved monitor for simracing on PlayStation (I mainly play on GT7) So I think it should be in 4k and 120hz if possible! for the moment I'm hesitating between the gigabytes M32UC and the Dell AW3225QF the price goes from simple to double! Do you have any advice or a screen suggested to me that might be useful? Thanks in advance

I plan to try hard all week but I am not sure if I can gold this one. The braking is very inconsistent for me. I brake at the same markers each time but sometimes I make the corner and sometimes I don't? Kind of hard to put a lap together this way. If I don't outbrake myself the tracklimits or the wall in the Porsche curves destroy my lap. Very difficult. After getting gold at Lake Louise I thought I wouldn't get silvers anymore but I guess I was wrong. The Nissan is still kinda fun to drive tho.

But, I managed to take another couple tenths off and here I sit...I'm still going to try and get another tenth or two but I don't know, this might have to do. I am really not enjoying this event. C'mon aliens! Give it a rest! That right hand bend before Indianapolis is so Fing maddening with the harsh track limit! Just ridiculous! And I find the Nissan to be really unpredictably floaty. All of a sudden it just loses contact with the ground and you're gliding.

Anyone knows ,what is the best lap outside of Nissand? Just getting frustrating with this one ,just cant get a decent run together and abort 95% of my laps lol.

They are evidently smearing Gouda cheese on the tires to increase grip. I don't see any other possibility.

I'll pop to the supermarket and buy some Taleggio. I hope it will have the same effect.

I'm curious to see their 👽 lap / telemetry even though it will make no difference to me from the execution standpoint. They are just too much

I had a lead of 0'880 on my record of 3'29'743 when in the last sector (at the Corvette corner) I bit a bit and saw my lap invalid !!!! 😡😡
It's really annoying on such long laps to lose everything in the last sector. But I'm not losing hope (even if my playing time is only limited to Friday) because my optimal time is still 3'28'8xx like yesterday. Especially since the time for gold has fallen again. So despite all this I was able to improve my time and be at 3'29'529 with an optimal time of 3'28'8xx
