New test in Le Mans :
this circuit is really stressful and annoying, even tiring !!!! ...😮‍💨😮‍💨
I had a lead of 0'880 on my record of 3'29'743 when in the last sector (at the Corvette corner) I bit a bit and saw my lap invalid !!!! 😡😡
It's really annoying on such long laps to lose everything in the last sector. But I'm not losing hope (even if my playing time is only limited to Friday) because my optimal time is still 3'28'8xx like yesterday. Especially since the time for gold has fallen again. So despite all this I was able to improve my time and be at 3'29'529 with an optimal time of 3'28'8xx

You got this buddy!, just keep trying, we all know by now you will make it, I did find the Mazda more difficult to drive due to the understeer mayhem, but like @TumeK5 mentioned there are people top 100 with the thing 🤣

Hi,

It feels like only a couple of days since I last looked in here - Holy moly! - You folks have been busy. Le Mans is somewhere I am avoiding with gritted teeth and dogged determination. I had a quick practice session on Sunday evening and, instantly, thought "Nope. Not for me." Looking at some of your earlier comments, I feel I made a wise choice... Given my age and my blood pressure and my gout and any other lame excuse I can find!

@zjn...

They are evidently smearing Gouda cheese on the tires to increase grip. I don't see any other possibility.
Having watched several replays and with due consideration, I think it might be Parmesan - You can tell by the smell. It's "grittier" too. Much more grip.

With limited time and even more limited ability, I am very very pleased with a 2:01:1XX at Autopolis. One more decent session - if I get the time - will, I hope, see me reach a PB in the time trials. Now that would be progress for me.

Very best regards to all here.

Ian.

Posting similar times to me! I think Corvette is the most dangerous corner on the track. Losing it in sector 1 is no biggy - it's easy to reset - but after 3 minutes of near perfect pace only to lose it on Corvette is soul crushing.

My soul was crushed and stomped on a lot yesterday. It is easily one of my most hated in the game..

Kaj de Bruin improved his P1 so I started checking his replay and looking at sector times and jaw drop...

I mean... How?.. I mean I am watching the replay and scratching my head... How in the world ?
He is pulling away at least half a second per sector, I mean per sector !! his first is 30.3 and I am very happy when I am 31 flat on first... That's 0.7 and it continues just like that...
Anyhow... Shocking... Kudos to him but I am still scratching my head... How?

Skill gap.

Skill gap.
Hahaha... Hey hey..I know it's skill gap, what else could it be 😁but you could at least gently sugar coat it for us that are 5-6 seconds slower than P1.. 😂😂😂😂😂
Haven't seen you on leaderboard yet mate? I guess it's standard routine for you, wait until last night and then P25 in one session. Are you looking forward for this one?

What's the current gold time now? Should my 28.6 be scared?

28.971 is the gold cutoff currently, but personally I wouldn't settle on where you're at. I'm sitting at a 3:23.5 at the moment but my optimal is in the 22.7-22.6 range, and I'm sure there's a bit more possible than that as this combo isn't exactly my strong suit. If you're at a 28.4 I'd say you're totally safe.

Thanks for that! Dudes be quick. Will hopefully get another run in over the weekend.

I assume its a case of high downforce cars; the faster you go the easier it is to turn - until it's not!

I personally suck at high downforce. My head just can't comprehend that you can go around corners at such speed if you are mm perfect in placement. I slow too much, loose the down force so have to slow further until I find grip again and just lose a ton of speed.

Edit: looking at the leaderboard it is crazy that only 1100 people are within 3% of the WR and only 102 players are within 2% !!!. This is a tough TT.

1st lap in the evening 🫠 🫠

But at less I know I can get into the 27s....so I went on for another 5 laps. Mostly just test my bravery at Tertre Rouge....I must say I had forgotten how to take that corner. I used to be very good at it. Eventually on the 5th lap, I sorta got a lap together.

Still quite annoyed as it could've been 1/2 a second quicker easy. The last sector was pretty meh...especially the last chicane.

Also @crome I know you want to come back for more but you absolutely have to leave it even. 😂🍻🍻
I am so sorry! ;)

With a (relatively) safe gold for Le Mans in the bag and some time on my hands, I finally went back to Autopolis to crack the 2:00. I can't say I saw this time coming. Had a bunch of promising laps that were all spoiled by bad last sectors, I never got below 2:01 until I got this one.

I think this is close to my optimal (I can't know for sure because I rarely did more than one lap in a row). Come to think of it, it has become a bit of a theme for these longer tracks that the front half works better for me than the back half. I am pretty sure my constant restarts play into this, I simply drive the first sectors a lot more often ;) ... that's probably a bad habit, but I am often too impatient to continue a lap for another minute or more when I already know I'm off pace.

Anyway, this should increase my top 500 (a.k.a GTP silver cup) streak to 6 💪. However, if it's gonna be 7, I need to go back to Le Mans as well, where I have already dropped below 500 😬

Making my way closer and closer to the sub 26 time and it's definitely doable, I'm very close. This is a 0.4 improvement from the previous PB which I'm pleased with but I know there is more time to be found. Another thing I would like to mention is that I notice a lot of you here are struggling with the gold time on this one and my advice for this and probably every other time trial is to never give up, keep pushing. Find where you are losing time, correct those errors, keep trying and you will improve as that is the whole point of time trialling, self improvement. Always remember to take breaks, don't overwork yourself. If you feel like you aren't getting anywhere, just stop and take a break and then try again with a fresh mind. And with that said, I wish you all best of luck!

Nice steady lap! And a very strong last sector, a tenth to quick overall though 😡🤣🤣

My last nights stint was extremely frustrating. I improved slightly at the beginning of my session but then it all went to hell. I spent roughly another 200km driving and I could barely make it through sector 1. When I did, I would invalidate the lap immediately at the beginning of sector 2. I have never restarted a TT as many times as I have last night. Cuss words were the only thing that were in order. I am afraid this TT might turn my mouth very foul :banghead::lol:

Kudos to all you freaks that are in Gold
I am extremely close to throwing in the towel here.

I've been missing out, as my braking foot has been out of commission for 10 days. Stitches come out on Wednesday; hopefully I can drive again then. I'm looking forward to Sarthe. It's the only track I don't have all gold in Circuit Experience, and I hope the TT grind will help me get there.
I've done some practice with the pad, and I'm in solid bronze with a 3:39.6.

Same here 😀restart after the mulssane straight most of the time or my lap is already invalid before that.

This one is frustrating!

I had my second session last night. It's been a LONG time since I've had trouble finding gold in my first session, let alone my second. This one is tough. I was not sure I wanted to enter because of my limited play time lately but now I'm committed. I had two laps last evening that I had a low 28 but both times I had a penalty at the final chicane entry. I was much closer to the ghost I was chasing and his line through there is slightly different from mine and I couldn't quite make it.

I know I've got it in me. But for now, silver.

I did find that far less steering input is much much better. The steering ratio with this car is very tight.

I've ditched the Nissan at Le Mans, I love the car but just don't trust it, the sketchy 2nd to 3rd gear change makes me nervous to get on the power sometimes and I just don't feel I can throw it about how I need to get a faster time.

After testing the Porsche again, which is a dream to drive but lacks the grunt for me, I went back to the Mazda and instantly chopped off a second and then another on the next lap, it might understeer at times but feels so much more assured under acceleration for me. Still not sure I'll get near gold but happy to far to be in the 1:30's having spent several days seemingly stuck in the 1:32s

You are almost there! Your next stint will guaranteed be golden. I don't even have a '29 in sight so a '28 might just be a dream.

Frustrating is not the word! The Ffb with the DD pro on the Nissan is weird as well. The wheel oscillation is insane down the straights. I have turned down the FF on the wheel to 80% and have it set to 5 for strength and 1 for sensitivity in game. What are the settings you are using?

I might switch up to the 787B and see how that monster treats me. At least I know that the screaming engine tone will be music to my ears.

Only the Nissan have this wheel oscillation.
The smoothest to drive is the Porsche.
The most balanced is the Mazda.

Didn't tested the Sauber and the Jag'

I did 9 laps in the Sauber and, like the Porsche, it is pretty smooth to drive, but also like Porsche is seemingly lacks the grunt of the Nissan and Mazda (except in the hands of the aliens perhaps) I agree the Mazda is the most balanced, if you can make the understeer work for you it's the safest option in my opinion.

Yeah, my routine has me doing Le Mans next week. I've heard it can be very annoying on controller, especially from the Porsche curves to the end where you're handicapped (motion steering okay though) so I'm not particularly keen on it, also with it being kinda half recycled (C9 to R92CP/787B). Otherwise Le Mans in a properly fast race car like this speaks to me, yeah. P25? Doubt that. :lol:Probably aim for a top 100, we'll see what it all looks like in a while.

Hopefully a Viper session tonight after 12 hours at work... 😴

I turned sensitivity down and FFB down to 2. It's still strong AF. Especially when there is big down force happening. Turn your wheel less... Watch the angle indicator. Good luck brother!

wow, 205Kmh at Tertre Rouge. My 184Kmh is killing me over the next straight
1731421183396.png

Keep aside the Porsche curves, all other my apex speed are in the same ballpark of yours ( I'm more limited by line and back-to-gas), but in this turn I'm hypertentative to avoid redding the lap, but even don't caring about redding I'm not sure I'm able to reach 200Kmh.
This is probably 1s lost by the time I reach the first chicane :dunce:
