I'm a second slower than you, but... I've observed ABS Default vs Weak is largely a personal preference, with each setting calling for a slightly different racing line. At Daytona I could set nearly identical lap times with either one. For me Default required slightly earlier braking, and Weak meant more challenging exits. When I turn CSA on, I almost always opt for ABS Weak, since its instability is mitigated; with CSA and ASM off I often prefer Default. Now it’s just a question of ABS default or weak; the latter seems to be what the world record lap was set using but I’m finding myself consistently slower than with it on default. Any thoughts folks?
Yeah, I had a few "Code Brown" moments on my lap.I am surprise dhow aggressive Dolph's lap was (replay at top of this page). He is turning in very early but man he had 3 moments where he was mm from death.
H12 and mid-engine.
- A V12 is indeed heavy upfront
I was waiting for this 😁
Wow man, you're on fire. You'll need the firefighters to wash you down with water, xD. It's pure agony when I can't find my groove on the track. Off I go to try to polish my lap. Also, got a new PB of 1'43.934. L-shooter's in 4th, hmmmmm. He must be struggling too to find his rhythm on the track. It's a start! Still rocking the opt of 36.6 so I have more to go. This is pure joy when I find the rhythm but pure agony when the right tyre nips the tiniest pixel of grass.
Not the strongest in road cars so a top 500 finish is where I'm happy here. Happy lapping folks!

Hell of a lap! Nice work! .3xx for sector 1 is absolutely alien territory. I saw .427 once. I haven't been in the low .4s since.Well this was such a frustrating and terrible experience, I can't remember the last time I developed such a hatred for a specific combo like this Viper - Daytona one So bumpy, I'm so inconsistent, it's crazy. Sometimes I do a .400 first sector, sometimes .650, every single corner is a different story with each lap, unbelieavable. And don't get me started on the oval exit, it's pure luck to avoid major bumps and get a proper traction. I don't even know why I came back to try again, I guess it's the optimal time from day 1, so it had to be done at some point.
First proper invalidated lap of the night:

JUST invalidated in the bus stop by like 2 milimeters on exit, I sent it like a madman but it didn't stick as I hoped, I had my best S3 split on this lap by far...
But I kept it going and finally made some progress:
And the worst thing here is that I did this lap with a .530 first sector which is abysmal, my personal bests were .360 and .370, which would put me literally at 1:43.999 but every single time I do a good S1 (which is very rare) I screw up somewhere else. This lap was perfect apart from S1, every single next sector was my personal best, I don't know how, it's just the Viper at Daytona things...
I will put this to rest and off I go to Brands Hatch finally
Agree on all points, fantastic time but yeah what a frustrating trial! This feels like another one of those where the car ‘remembers’ dirty or overheated tyres when you reset so for any serial resetters such as myself much better to go back into the menu and start again than just hitting retryWell this was such a frustrating and terrible experience, I can't remember the last time I developed such a hatred for a specific combo like this Viper - Daytona one So bumpy, I'm so inconsistent, it's crazy. Likewise, mostly in the .5s and occasionally low .4s.. when I got a pb in S1 I just went straight ahead at the first right hander in S2 😁Hell of a lap! Nice work! .3xx for sector 1 is absolutely alien territory. I saw .427 once. I haven't been in the low .4s since.
Sorry for the delay, the video hasn't been uploaded yet. I wonder what would happen if I put ABS to default, it may not change anything. See, we're dealing with hard tires. The temperature shouldn't affect anything either.
@bluealpine I'm glad everything worked out for you, the Testarossa wouldn't work with me in Sector 3, it was a nightmare, here's the video guys.
Thanks @crome for this post, i missed the information before. And thanks @Vule ! I ordered right away a yellow and a blue spring and replaced (already softer) the elastormers after arrival. The feeling of braking is so much better and more natural right now.Let's start a little off-topic, but I'll get to the TT stuff, I promise
So I had these guys in the mail today (many thanks @Vule for the recommendation) ...

and obviously I had to install them right away
I guess the blue / yellow combo is an unusually "soft" one compared to what most people seem to use, but then again I also have the load cell brake configured to just 40% of its max power. Any more would not work with my setup (pedals placed on the floor), but I'm not complaining - 40% feels firm enough for me to be honest.
Story of my life 🤣 if by miracle, S1 is good and I have gained time, I manage to lose 2/3rd of it before getting back on the oval and I loose 0.5s at the bus stop. And when S1 is bad I manage to nearly gain it all back and finish a few thousands below my best lap of the stint. Rinse and repeat.every single corner is a different story with each lap
every single time I do a good S1 (which is very rare) I screw up somewhere else
Don't bother with those tiny details that barely affect aliens.I wonder what would happen if I put ABS to default, it may not change anything.
Yeah, I had to learn that the hard way yesterday. After I overconfidently announced that a 1:36 is possible for me, now that I actually learned how to take Surtees I can never replicate my best S2 splits anymore 😢For Brand Hatch, bear in mind that the optimals will be way off due to the sector 2 split being mid corner at Surtees, so if you go deep one lap, your sector 2 will be fast and sector 3 will be slow and give versa if you take a slow in fast out approach
We're already past 75K participants and you're P55, there's no way you'll drop below P200. Amazing! (as usual lately )Not the strongest in road cars so a top 500 finish is where I'm happy here. Happy lapping folks!
Thanks for telling me that, I'll change the ABS back to weak then. Well when I do activate the line assist, it feels like I'm driving slower, doesn't help. I try to be independent and not use any assists out there on the tarmac. Yes, positioning my car is the hardest part because you have to be fast everywhere, so then sometimes you miss the turn or apex and end up in the grass or sand. I'll work on it some more now and then I'll post my video.Don't bother with those tiny details that barely affect aliens.
Kudos for using MT, but you should keep using stick for steering and triggers for brake and throttle.
As @NevilleNobody said, your main objective now should be to better use track width and position your car on the right place, especially when entering turns, you loose so much time by not being on the right spot and having to slow down to make the turn.
Maybe activate the trajectory line assist, at least for a few laps, so you have the trajectory well engraved.
With all do respect Chris, it has absolutely no value for you bringing ABS to weak in your case, driving on the edge ABS weak can give you sometimes a little benefit in terms of rotation but in your case it will only raise the difficulty level for you. Thanks for telling me that, I'll change the ABS back to weak then. you have your priorities in the wrong order :positioning my car is the hardest part because you have to be fast everywhere
